Great job !!! I’m reading a book copy righted in 1978 on how to treat service oil burners! And this is exactly what you need to do to service them! He even used the same tools and methods to check efficiency! Not new these fancy instruments. Thanks!
In 1978 they didn't have electronic combustion analyzers, which read in real time. Not make an estimated adjustment, try to take another 3 minute test but the boiler stopped because its up to temp, send the heat upstairs, try again, repeat. In todays world that is a amateur doing one job vs a pro doing as a trade. Now I only service the five or so burners I own. I am not going to buy a new $2500 electronic tester. Give her the joe ward special soot stick a year and on to the next one. And what are you spraying into the oil filter? Professor Joe Ward dumps a can of HOT into the tank . He does ALL his tuneups in a cap and gown. Professor Ward would fire you and strip you of your cap and gown in front of the customer
how do I clean the airband on mine? My boy and I skin foxes in the furnace room and I think some hair eventually gets sucked in. Now the burner is louder in that area.
What state are you from? Not all states require it. Steve Lav is a youtuber from Massachusetts and they are on every pump he works on. I am from Pa. and never see them on the pumps.
I'm no longer in the industry. Not sure when this was implemented. All I know is I had never seen fusible valves at the fuel pumps in Pa. They may currently be required on new installations. I have no idea. If it is now code and I were still in the field, I'd throw one on every pump I touched just to cover my own ass. It only takes five minutes. No big deal.@@jeffreyjohn2037

No, it's not. Every new filter cartridge comes with a new bleeder screw washer. As long as you put some muscle into tightening the screw, there should not be an issue. Although I always bleed the entire line through the pump bleeder after changing the filter and strainer. But that's just the way I do it.
@@jaepcam that’s what I mean. The integrity of the screw from putting muscle into it. Always gets over torqued. The really is the best way. Besides, I love the extra fuel that I pour back into my tank at home. 😂
I meant don't leave it loose by tightening it like a 5 year old girl and don't over tighten like Hercules. Hahahahaha....I got thousands of gallons of free oil for my tank over 34 years of doing oil burner service. 👍@@riello2362
Would be nice not to have to listen to that vacuum when I’m trying to listen to you. I will suggest a few things. They make a nozzle wrench, which is a internal and external socket with two handles that make it much easier. Those open end wrenches sometimes slip and you’ll then break your electrodes. I always changed electrodes every annual service, as I have seen some major puff backs due to hairline cracks and pits in the porcelain insulators. I didn’t see you check the nozzle pressure or check the pump cutoff pressure. Other than that I thought you did a very thorough service. That old boiler is running pretty efficiently. Good job and good attention to detail.
Hey rod Spoken like a true enthusiast, but I never cracked an electrode changing a nozzle in 40 years. Always hold wrenches 2 inches apart and squeeze with one hand. Try that and can’t crack electrode with such slight movement. Thank you. Eric
Those nozzle wrenches SUCK! They get dirt inside them and contaminate the nozzle orifice. Just more weight added to your tool bag. Nothing but a headache. I've been using 2 open end wrenches for 33 years and have never had them slip and never broke an electrode. You must not have hand-eye coordination.
I live in a 10 unit apartment building with one boiler for all the units. They put a new boiler in five years ago. Every year there’s been a problem with air getting Into the lines. They bleed the air out four times a year. My neighbor doesn’t have heat half of the winter. These amateurs call themselves professionals
Michael B Hello; bleeding the air out of what Michael?… The oil line or the water lines/pipes? Edward H. “Integrity Plumbing, Heating, Septic and Drain“ in CT
Hi Micheal Based on your comment, I would guess you have convectors which has a bleeder on the convector top straight up. If I am correct try adding a float style bleeder to vent air automatically. This is not an install for a novice. Would like to know result of repair that corrected problem. Thank you. Eric
No gloves mask or knee pads? That’s the way to go. No digital combustion test kits again the only way to do it. I still use a beeper map books and pay phones to. And my old ecnoline 150 has no ac and an am radio to.

How much is annual service?
Hi, no anual service, just call when needed
Environmental taxes have made the oil so expensive in Sweden. :-(
Ho Zola, everybody that could is getting rid of them here, thanks, mike
Thx for sharing
Thanks, Mike
Can I get in touch with this guy?
I live local to you mike.
Hi sir, he is gone south for the winter,
Why is there no firomatic at the pump?
The contractor who installed it never put it in
Give her the joe ward special soot stick a year and on to the next one. And what are you spraying into the oil filter? Professor Joe Ward dumps a can of HOT into the tank . He does ALL his tuneups in a cap and gown. Professor Ward would fire you and strip you of your cap and gown in front of the customer
We will have to start watching him,
how do I clean the airband on mine? My boy and I skin foxes in the furnace room and I think some hair eventually gets sucked in. Now the burner is louder in that area.
I couldn't say unless I was there thanks
No fusible valve at the fuel pump. You should add one.
He didn't do install just servicing
What state are you from? Not all states require it. Steve Lav is a youtuber from Massachusetts and they are on every pump he works on. I am from Pa. and never see them on the pumps.
@@jaepcam Connecticut. Firomatic valves are required to conform to the NFPA 31 code book.
Any links or part number for filters etc etc
I just take it to plumbing store and get same thing if you are not sure, thanks mike
how much does a service cost?
I try and do everything myself, getting harder each year with the electronics, mike
Mike Haduck - Travel - Mechanics - Music that’s not answering the question.
Yeah im just gonna call someone to do it lol thought i might be able to do it myself
Thanks

nevermind
Pennsylvania ,but thanks ,mike
Richard Mcginnis Hello Richard and all; my name is Edward and my company is “Integrity Plumbing, Heating, Septic and Drain“ and I can go to Norwich to service your oil fired furnace or boiler (as long as you do not have gas or steam). I do not cut corners nor take shortcuts and I stand behind my work. 203-500-8777
Better than many
Thanks Henry, mike
If i had good service like this than I probably wouldn't have felt the need to learn to do it myself.
Thanks, Mike
Wish you were in Vermont 😔
Thanks
What's the name of the oil filter?
Hi Tiks, there are different size canisters so you got to get the number off the canister and the type of pump if you want to change that,
thanks for all the info.please do one on how to size the boiler.
Thanks,
thank u this was very informative
Thanks Evan, mike
dude you work in new york
No, but thanks, Mike

That’s the best, mike
How can we see in this dark place can’t you have a better light ?
Your right, thanks mike
what's that spray that he is cleaning everything with?
I think it was carb cleaner gumout, thanks, mike
Use brakekleen from auto parts store, it's cleans excellent and dries immediately on its own.
@@Vin3Man thanks
a friend checked my furnace[he was oil man] he brushed cleaned and swept these fins, they were full of soot,he said the service should do this,.....in 20 yrs never seen then do it...I asked about that and got a bs excuse,,.......too bad friend no longer with us.
Thanks
Nice watching video. (OF COURSE WITH THE SOUND OFF)
You should hold the fucking vacuum cleaner for wen off camara.
Thanks Cfon, mike
You should never use the bleed screw on the filter! Use the pump instead. The bleeder screw is a leak waiting to happen.
Thanks Rod, mike
Hey rod
Spoken like a true enthusiast, but I never cracked an electrode changing a nozzle in 40 years.
Hi Mike, I will have to send you Honest Jardy, lol, mike
Whatever works,
Fuel oil on your fingers will cause them to dry out and crack.wearing gloves minimizes this.
Thanks
I no longer have oil heat but when I did the maintenance was never this detailed
Thanks big, mike
Nothing like having the customer standing boots to boot with you while and watching every move you make like a hawk. I get wanting to make sure you aren’t getting screwed, but you called me because you couldn’t do it, don’t act like you’re training me at that point.
Thanks,
If you serviced this boiler every year the strainer and the filter would be clean. 30 years tells me that
Thanks
