  • Winnie from the Slingshot Forum proposed using a little heat to form a pocket or cup in microfiber pouches. Many shooters prefer a pouch with some same. Leather breaks in with use. Microfiber tends to stay flat. This works!

Cool idea. I have just the microfiber pouches I want to try this on. Thanks for sharing Ray.

I did this one before pit pouches really exploded onto the scene. Today, I still use a little wet forming on leather pouches, but rarely bother shaping microfiber. That said, it is pretty fast, easy and kind of rewarding.

Interesting. I saw Nick Hegarty give a similar tip yesterday with leather pouches by wetting the centering hole area then put in the ammo and use a clip to hold it together till it dries.

A well-shaped leather pouch is hard to beat. I think Bill Herriman (Tex-Shooter) has it mastered. See his vid: th-cam.com/video/mEfCvgllJfY/w-d-xo.html
But my fellow Kansan, Beanflip suggested wetting leather pouches and letting it dry with a piece of ammo centered and held with rubber band. That makes a very good shooting leather pouch also.

@@rayrowden2790 Thanks for the tip. I like your idea as well. I have some suede microfiber pouches I like really well. I'll have to try the heat on one of them an see how It goes. That would pretty nice not having to fiddle around hunting the center every time you reload.

Your welcome. It sure would. I want to try it on a couple of them and see how it goes.

I saw Winnie's post on the forum about forming the micro fiber pouches. While the pouch seem to last a long time they stay relatively flat. I wonder if the heat has any effect on pouch life.

It's a little early for me to have an answer on that one. But I think it will be okay if the heat is kept to a minimum. I did notice that the material will stretch easily when it's hot, so I avoid that.

Are you still doing this? Presumably you get a better, more consistent ball release from the pouch? Thnx

I'm still shaping the leather pouches I cut, but I haven't done a microfiber one for a while. I haven't thought about it enough to tell you (or myself) why. I do have more confidence shooting a shaped pouch though. Thanks for the view and the comment!

Great video! I’ve not tried synthetic pouches yet, do you have a recommendation? (I typically shoot short draw TTF 8mm or 9mm.) Thanks, and thanks for the video!

Thanks! I really don't have a preference on these pouches. Every one I've handled has been perfectly cut and uniform in thickness. Just get a size that works for you.
