- There seems to be growing interest in learning to shoot slingshot in the butterfly style - with maximum extension. Here are some tips for finding a grip that is comfortable and effective, plus an approach to testing the release without shooting yourself in the face.
Good job Ray!
Another great lesson Ray 😃
Thanks, Reed!
I figured out the release practice part after I was already shooting butterfly. I still use it when I'm trying something new. Experimenting at shoulder height vs. cheekbone height just seems like a better idea!
Great video Ray 😁
Thanks Darrell! It seems to be a popular topic!
Excellent mate ,,,loving them leather tabs
Good info Ray. I do pretty well shooting PFS butterfly but a few times I’ve tried shooting a regular frame butterfly style I get frame hits. I’m going to try some of your suggestions and see how it goes.
Awesomenessssss Man
Good introduction, thanks 👍
Glad you enjoyed the vid. Thanks for the subscription, too!
@@rayrowden2790 Thanks for your subscription too 😉
ok, I guess Im gonna have to try it again! lol I just keep thinking Im gonna shoot my face :)
Steve, you are so darned eccentric you feel like family! So go for it - but break it up into a couple of sessions. Do some of the point and shoot style - at shoulder height vs. face height until you are confident your release is working. Use really a really narrow band cut - like 1/4-inch straights for 5/16-inch ammo. When you are ready to anchor the band on your cheek, remember to back it off a hair or two before you release. Don't hesitate to hit me up here or on the Slingshot forum if any questions pop into your mind.
@@rayrowden2790 I never did it, but watching again today, I hope to try tonight, never enough time :)
I do love my full butterfly Arturo style, but I’m far too beardy to get consistency, gotta keep the draw too far away from my face to avoid a pouchfull of hair. If I want to hit something, it’s still frameless. Are they 1632’s? Pretty much my universal tube of choice. Hope your keeping well Ray, I enjoy your vids.
I imagine a longer beard could be an obstacle. Ha! How things have changed. I used to think 1632s were for .177 steel. Now I use them for everything up to 3/8 (9.5mm) steel. My heavy tubes are 2040s! But with a longer draw, they are potent!
@@rayrowden2790 yes, and I must thankyou for putting me onto them.
Sir is Wich quality Tubular bands
Thanks for visiting my channel! Hope you enjoy the videos. I trust the quality of Dankung and GZK tubes. They specialize in slingshot products. I've also had excellent results with Hygenic brand tubes, although they specialize in medical latex.
I hope this addresses your question.
Are you KawKan at forums?😁
Yes indeed!
@@rayrowden2790 I have just started to learn butterfly style shooting. Do you have e-mail or something, I would like to ask some questions about bands and stuff if it's ok to you?
@@jakkek238 The easiest way is to message me through one of the forums. I'd be happy to help.
