Shooting a Shield PFS from Slingshot Underground
TH-camr Slingshot Underground th-cam.com/channels/gIFhvzSDjaq8Ro_2MMI6DA.html
sent me this beautiful Pickle Fork Shooter (PFS) slingshot. He built it with a Baltic Birch core sandwiched with three varieties of hardwood. I had not been shooting the PFS style much lately, but this inspired me! It's a wonderful gift from a great builder and shooter. Check out his channel. You'll probably want to subscribe! Many thanks my friend!

Shooting 40mm spinner with slim oak natural fork slingshot
มุมมอง 1912 ปีที่แล้ว
This is one of my favorite slingshots. I collected the fork from a roadside brush pile and started shooting it green. Originally banded with #32 office rubber bands, it now sports GZK .62mm flat latex bands. I'm shooting 3/8-inch steel (9,5mm) from 33 feet. If you have a natural fork slingshot post a shooting video for us!
Shooting a new Conus PFS style slingshot
มุมมอง 3272 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first time I banded up this new slingshot. I made it from Osage Orange. It's in the Conus style, developed by Arturo, and I'm shooting butterfly, like Arturo does. I shooting 3/8-inch steel ammo (8mm) from 33 feet away.
Slingshot Shooting Cans With Clay Ammo from 10 meters
มุมมอง 4612 ปีที่แล้ว
I've been shooting 9mm clay ammo more recently. I often use the bands intended for .177 or 4.5mm steel BBs. But today I'm using bands intended for 5/16-inch or 8mm steel. Pity the poor can - it's taking a beating. But I'm having fun!
Slingshot pouch replacement and tying
มุมมอง 8472 ปีที่แล้ว
My method uses simple tools - scissors, cotton twine and bands and the pouch. It's an old school approach, but it works. It's hard to see in the video, but when I say I'm tensioning the bands, I'm holding the pouch with the ring finger and pinky of my right hand and pulling the latex held with the thumb and forefinger of my left hand. You can see me pulling the constrictor hitch tight with the ...

Time Lapse recording of shooting 9.5mm Clays in the basement

Shooting a Spoon Rest style natural fork slingshot
มุมมอง 8153 ปีที่แล้ว
This slingshot was carved from a cedar natural fork. I used a design introduced by the legendary Ibojoe of Slingshot Forum fame. The "S" shape of the frame makes a very dramatic presentation and is quite comfortable to shoot as well. The bands, Simple-Shot .50s, are attached via top slots - a trick picked up from Bill Hays of Pocket Predator. I'm shooting butterfly with 1/2-inch white glass mar...
Shooting the classic Wham-O Sportsman Slingshot
มุมมอง 9773 ปีที่แล้ว
I think I got this slingshot off the trade table at the Southeast Slingshot Tournament a couple of years ago. It's not my favorite shooter, but it is a lot of fun. Bill Harriman (AKA Slingshot Bill, AKA Tex-Shooter) and Bill Hays of Pocket Predator have provided templates for much more effective board cut slingshots. But this is a good reminder of what once set the bar.
Banding up the Wham-O Sportsman Slingshot
มุมมอง 9793 ปีที่แล้ว

Pouch grips, and release practice for butterfly slingshot shooting

Butterfly style slingshot shooting
มุมมอง 3.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Shooting slingshots with the maximum extension - a full drawlength - is termed Butterfly style. It offers potential for more power and speed, or much less draw weight, depending on the band selection. This style is compatible with conventional slingshots, the narrow pickle-fork-shooters (PFS), and even frameless shooting. Two keys: master your pouch release, and never adjust your pouch/ammo gri...
Mounting Light Bands on Wing Slingshot
มุมมอง 4143 ปีที่แล้ว
The Wing was designed to shoot heavy ammo(1/2-inch steel), using thick powerful bands. But I like to shoot light ammo (3/8-inch steel) using light, fast bands. For a secure fit, I add a .75mm latex strip to hold the .55 shooting bands.

I rate the longevity for these as very good. I estimate about a 1000 shots. My favorte ammo for these bands is 5/8-inch glass marbles or 1/2-inch steel. I don't shoot rocks as ammo, mostly because rock in my part of Kansas are rarely smooth or nicely shaped. Thanks for dropping by!

Butterfly style is a little bit like pickle fork shooting. It is a challenging skill, but when you learn it, it is gratifying to do. I do every style I can learn, just for the experience. (What you referring to, the pouch hitting you from the back, is the "butterfly kiss".)

    • @rayrowden2790
      @rayrowden2790 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, I suppose so. With the pickle fork, the shooter has to overcome the concern that the ammo will hit the hand. With butterfly, the shooter has to overcome the concern the ammo will hit the face. Both are big leaps of faith in skill.

Years ago, Gary "Flatband" Miller made a couple of prototype National Slingshot Association commemorative slingshots, which strongly resemble the Wham-O, but has valleys on each side for a better thumb and index finger grip. This was for the 2nd iteration of the NSA, run by Chief AJ, and short-lived, when folks realized that the chief was only running the organization for the main purpose of selling his slingshots. He had little interest in target shooters, and glorified those who downed the biggest animals with a slingshot. Gary gifted those prototype Wham-O lookalike slingshots to me. I am VERY happy to be in possession of a made-for-me, handmade, Richard "Blue" Skeen slingshot which he made from a branch - I'm guessing Dogwood. He signed it for me. BTW - I never met the man, all I did was send to him a letter expressing my appreciation for his involvement in slingshooting - a champ in every way! THWACK!

The uke is a very underated instrument. Most folks associate it with Hawaiian hulu dances, with uke players strumming away. If folks would only check out the YT channels for Jake Shimabukuro, Honoka & Azita, and James Hill. Jake's rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody at a TEDtalk, is brilliant. Honoka & Azita "caused" me to buy a Kanilea K-2T, after a couple of other ukes, including a Kanilea MT-4 Islander, a Kala, and a Lohanu. For the most part, I don't strum, I play melody. And on all my ukes I've replaced the high "G" string with a "low" G string - perhaps you can tell that I've come from a guitar background. ; ) Thank you for the vid (found you originally searching for slingshooting vids) - my slingshooting story is rather long, and involves me being assistant to the Chief of the 2nd iteration of the National Slingshot Association (now defunct).

I tried the match stick method, it worked but the bands came loose after a few shots. Decided to go over the top. Didn't cut the slots off nor fill the slots with epoxy and saw dust. I put double sided tape over the top then covered it with very soft leather. Then just wrap and tuck OTT. Works great and is more consistent than ever before.I don't shoot the Wham-O often enough to get a box of 50, 107 office rubbers. Keep up the good work and stay well.

Good shooting Ray! Been out shooting a little today myself but it’s very hot here. I can only stand it for a short time before I have to come in and cool off

Wow!!! I'm really AMAZED with your accuracy and the power of a clay ball. I thought the clay balls would explode in a powder puff when hitting the can. I guess I'm gonna try those, for a change from marbles. AWESOME video and excellent idea of using a mirror for a "double" view of both shooter and target!! Cheers...Q

Thanks, Q! I've powdered a few clays on the can rims! But they will punch through the mid-section with no problem. And live to shoot again!

Thanks for the video ! I'm not really into slingshooting ( yet i hope ) but i'm about to go buy some elastics and practice it with some cans. I see there are many ways to deal with the tension on the holding hand, holding with the ring and middle finger on your case, so it's nice you showed your confidence by shooting and getting that nice bullseye for us. I was imagining i'd have to center it with my nails on my pulling hand too but i'm glad it's quite a versatile shooting style.

You seem to be watching attentively, and that's good! I usually approach new slingshot skills using low power and light ammo. It can take some of the sting out of mistakes. Also, you may want to take your first shots using a frame. The frameless technique is on the advanced side.
