I need to speed mine up and see how the fly outta my barrels. I like the fact that he has so many variations you can try, outta six slugs of his I've tried half of them were dish based and my guns like those the best. I knew mine wouldn't shoot the FX slugs, I'd already tried the GAA cup, or deep base, I forgot what he calls it, but it's the pellet based. I was hopeful the lighter weight would help, but no, for the third time I am sure mine don't like the pellet based. They were a Birthday present and may be usable if I tune the wood model to them. But, why do that when the GAA dish based are what I am sure they like. It's nice ot know that if I need slugs I know which ones will work.
Thanks for checking it out and the comment. I will say the Flashpups aren't great slug guns, at least from what I've tested, but I'd need a lot of them to test them right. For close range it wouldn't be a problem, but I haven't tested enough to see how they could really shoot them, it would take hundreds testing each hammer spring adjustment. I'm using the 33.95 gr MK2's in it now that work really well for knock down power.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 I just got a flashpup; made the mistake of buying 40gr ammo that won't fit into the rotary mags. I also noticed Griffin isn't carrying the .25 30gr ldc at the moment. I was going to try some of the 31gr H&N grizzlys
Unless a whole lot of people have a gun that is consistent in being an accurate and the same model that shoots slugs well, probably not worth it. You also have to have a need for them, I'm not against slugs, they have their place, and there are guns that will shoot the hell out of 'em, but this idea that pellets are going away, nah, not happening just like the Red Rider never went away, pellets are like rock and roll, here to stay!
Glad you finally found one that works. I have some that a friend of mine is making that I will be testing soon in the 25 Gauntlet. It is turned up quite a bit so I hoping it will shoot them well. I had some KO's for the 22 Gauntlet but they did not do well. 8 inch groups at 20 yards! Lol I have the 22 Gauntlet tuned where I can shoot it probably 40 shots without a fill and I wasn't willing to mess with it to accommodate those slugs. I sent them to Lou for his Hatsan. Take it easy brotha!
I'll get pellets over slugs any day with my guns, I wasn't even going to try the FX hybrids because they were pellet based and I'd already tried them from Griffin, I knew the guns didn't like them , the dish based are the only one's I've found that they like. Michelle ordered them for my Birthday and I was hoping the lighter weight would work better, I went with the 36 gr in Griffin slugs, my guns normally shoot heavier lead really well, pellets, not so hot on slugs. Your new project is looking good man, can't wait to see the final results. Have a good one man.
My flashpup 25cal synthetic is not very pellet finicky but i haven't found the right slug for it yet. Thanks for the video I'm going to try some of those griffin slugs.
Your's may shoot better than mine. My synthetic model is picky as hell, but the best slugs I've tried thus far are the dish based, I believe you can tune in to them, they've all been the best of any slug I've tried. Mine don't like the flat-based, pellet based, cup-based, deep based... I think that's all of them, lol. But the dish based works best in my guns, maybe the regular dish based HP in 30 gr would shoot as well, I haven't tried. But the choices Griffin Airgun Ammo has is better in my opinion, the base definitely makes a difference. Those little low density cores suckers did impress me, that's what I was looking for, but I have four left, lol. Slugs are pricey and I shoot too much with my guns set for pellets, this is what I like to see, with the same tune on the wood model at 4 1/2 turns out I can shoot the Air Arms 25.4 gr, Hades, and these slugs and the POI for all is within the bullseye the size of a dime at fifty yards. Not so with my synthetic model, mine is a weird one, and picky as f&*! I do think you can find the right slug for it at GAA, it was actually a sample he sent me from some I'd won. Maybe email him and ask him about the best results for Flashpups and slugs, the ones he sent me to try were shown in this video and they freaking rocked.
Hands down the best slug for my flashpup is Nielson 33gr. .25 bullseye every single time! And I've bought apex ammo, griffin ammo, h&n ammo from 23 grains, to 44 grain. And the jsb MK2 match 33 gr. Pellets hands down is the best pellet.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I've turned mine down for plinking, I get 50 shots, but I can set the wood model at 4 1/2 turns out on the hammer spring and it will shoot most pellets like a laser, it's two favorite pellets are the Air Arms 25.4 gr and the Hades, at 4 1/2 turns out the POI doesn't change at 50 yards from switching pellets. I can plink and hunt without adjusting anything. The synthetic model is a different story, it's picky, it will shoot many different pellets but, the speed needs to be changed with hammer spring tension adjustments. The video I did before this one shooting it out to 100 with the Air Arms, I couldn't believe it, the gun has hated those pellets from day one, but with adjustment it loves them. Before these, it was a laser with the FX pellets, it doesn't shoot them well set at this speed set for the Air Arms. It's a weird gun, it's done all kinds of weird things since I've had it. Where it's set, if I switch the pellets up, same weights, say five and five for a full mag it will only run two mags. Using the same pellet loaded in the mags it will run three. It does weird shit.
It depends on your barrel, mine are all choked so they are very picky for slugs. They say the new Air Venturi Avenger shoots them and it's an entry level gun with side cocking lever, regulated, adjustable from the outside. I think I have one under the tree, lol. I love my flashpups, but I would like to have a gun that will shoot them well at a longer distance with power in case I needed it. I shoot too much to shoot slugs all the time, pellets work great for many situations, including price so the hoopla about slugs pushing pellets out just isn't something I'm believing.
Yep, a lot of people like 'em, I didn't think I'd ever see my guns shoot a slug as well as a pellet, just didn't see it happening, but there it is and it only cost a little over a few hundred bucks to find out, I guess I should have tried those first, why did I do that to me, why would I order a bunch of lead my guns won't shoot for shit. Lead poisoning, that's what wrong with me, I've f****d around and given myself lead poisoning with all the airgunning, that's it, it's gotta be, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Don't be like me, buy the ones your gun likes first, it makes life easier removing all the disappointments.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 😆 😆 😆.. Yeah to much lead.. Your video was very informative..cost u a ton.. But look at all the people u just helped.. Dats y u da man.
I haven't found one it likes really well, my wood model will shoot one well enough, but my synthetic doesn't like slugs at all. I wish I could help you out on that, maybe you'll have better luck finding one for yours.
Some guns just don't shoot slugs well, and I'm cool with that, when I bought the gun I bought a pellet rifle, and that's what I got, and damn good one's in my opinion. For a hunting round the Hades are excellent, I haven't tested them out to 100 yards yet, but they are great out to 80 yards so far. I keep more Diabolo pellets than anything, they are the overall best, great for practicing and hunting, everything I have shot with my guns have been shot with one and they were finished immediately. If I were on 30 acres a long range slug gun would be very handy, but minus the zero and it becomes way less of a need or desire.
Yeah, I really just leave the one's I haven't shot laying around. You can tune your gun to them I'm guessing by the looks of the groups of the winner in what I've tried, but it's gonna be expensive constantly shooting during the process. I can do that with pellets, it's affordable. I did try different tuning with NSA's but mine just didn't shoot them well enough for me to want to use them. I do like the Hades pellets, great hunting round and accurate in my guns, my slug equivalent, lol. I'd throw the Polymags in there as well but it's hard to get the shorts that will fit in the mag. No matter, I like to shoot my guns and hundreds of shots with good 'ol diabolo pellets take care of that, and I they will kill if I need to use them.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 yeah I doubt I would ever bother with getting one made but everyone knows that is the sticking point for these guns along with marginal power. Like you said pellets work and work well and are a lot less than 15 cents or more per shot.

These two guns have different hammer systems in them, the synthetic has the newer one to take the ping out, but the whole system together doesn't work like the wood model, at least mine don't. My wood model shoots pretty much anything, my synthetic has to be be tuned to what it likes, it's a weird gun, accurate but not flexible. I can leave the wood model where it is and it shoots everything set there, it's two favorite pellets hold the same POI at 50 yards so no scope adjustment from target shooting to Hades for hunting, gotta love that. The synthetic has to be tweaked, at least mine does, mines been weird since the day I got it.
