Awesome bro, looks like your dialing in some of those slugs with the trusty ol' flashpup. I dig it brother good stuff.i hope the rain doesn't effect your "group therapy " too much. Stay safe bro...👍
I have some dialing to do, nothing great for sure, but they did do better than the NSA's for me, those have a flat base so that could be a difference as well. I prefer pellet on pellet, just wishing I could find a slug that I didn't need to tune to for accuracy, I can turn power up and down with pellets and still have great groups. I'm almost certain I can turn down the power and tighten groups, I want it to be the other way around, if not there's no use in running slugs through the gun.
I was watching a "Brothers in Air" video (dated June 20th 2019) and he mentioned your detailed enthusiasm about slugs. So I decided to check you out. I'm glad I did.
Thanks, I appreciate it. These are new, they work better than the NSA slugs did for me without tuning to them. I noticed the heavy 55 gr NSA slugs would group better and they were moving slower, they're to big for the mags and to heavy. I had testing to do with them and I kid you not an dog ate 'em, at least chewed a lot of them up and I never ordered more. Brother In Air had a bunch on hand and tuned to them and they work great. I was just hoping a cup, dish, or pellet base would help and I could get the choked barrel to take more speed with these slugs. From the looks of it I think it is possible, you usually need a lot of ammo to tune, I don't have a lot of these so if I find any putting slug on top of slug over and over again at a faster speed the way it does pellets then I'll be stocking up.
I'm not having great luck with them at the current tune for the pellets, but I can tune to these and make them work. I gotta find out the problem with the Flashpup, I swapped the breech seal and it's still not running right, I've got to take a look and I don't wanna because I have a complete reseal kit and if I start I may as well reseal the whole thing. We have the moving out and in to get done in two weeks, I wanted it up and running to test out when we move in, but I don't want to tear it apart and if fore some reason I am missing something I have it in pieces. I did that with the Air Master 77, it sat around for a week for parts, got the parts, took it apart and the parts had a seal missing so I had to wait for that to come in, lol. I'm gonna play with it, have a look and see if it's something easy, I'm sure it's a seal, just hoping it was the breech seal.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 I hope you can get it figured out without to much hassle. I have a couple of projects(The Diana) that I am waiting to start. Don't want to lose them parts either! Makes me nervous! Have some family in town & they are staying in my gun room! About two more weeks. That is why my last couple of video's were just still's with voice overs. I think Zee is onto something on the .177 break barrel slugs. He shot a pretty good group off hand at 22 yards. Way better that I could that's fer sure! Lol
@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 Yeah those shots were looking really good at 22 yards offhand, I like to shoot offhand and do alright, great groups probably aren't gonna happen when I hit the record button, lol.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 I am the same way! Lol That group I got with the Prowler the other day would probably not have happened if I was recording. Lol
Neither of mine like the .249 well, normal with Hatsan guns, they have a thing for tight-fitting lead and do well with the heavier lead. What speed are you shooting at? My synthetic is picky, right now it shoots the Air Arms pellets fine out to 100 yards, I just haven't found a tune for the ones I've tried that my guns like. Power wise It's probably best to stay 34 gr and under. I say that but mine doesn't like the FX Hybrids worth a damn either and they are 26 gr, but the base makes a difference. I shoot too much to tune one specifically for slugs, lol. Others have had success, I haven't spent enough time tuning for them, I have tried several different hammer spring settings and not had any luck the way you have.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 I'm still shooting the factory tune. I think the 33.5 gr slugs are around 700 fps. Mine loves the AA 25.4 gr pellets so that's what I shoot the most. I have a 34 gr NOE pellet mold ordered but I don't have it yet. I'm thinking about powder coating the .249 slugs I have to see if accuracy improves.
@@slowpokeairgunner4027 I've been having great success with the NSA 33.5 gr as well also just using the factory tune as well with the wood Fashpup fps between 660-690 Dam near pellet on pellet 100 yards. Maybe a barrel cleaning is in order and give them another try perhaps. Some people are cleaning there barrels between every 50-150 shots taken. I noticed my groups recently opened up to about 4 inches I know I'm long overdue for a cleaning.
@@ice.._ I appreciate the info. Mine are shooting well at 100 with pellets, I may have to try the 33.5 gr in the future. Right now I am pretty much good with pellets within the ranges I'm shooting, but if any coyotes come in I'd like to slug 'em, lol. I'm using the 33.95 gr JSB MK2's and they're doing great in both Flashpups and Avenger. I do appreciate the info, thanks for checking out the video..
Good to see that they are produced consistently in weight and diameter I'm sure you'll get that pop figure it out and shooting straight before you know it although you had a couple of good groups though
Yeah, nothing to write home about but it lets me know I can tune to them if I want. I know pellets are accurate, these guns are not designed for slugs but they will shoot them. I just wanted to test some in case we have coyotes on the property. Thirteen days, just waiting for the lawyer to finish the paperwork and the 14th is the first day he had open. Thirteen days and Pilot Mountain Airgunner is no more, I still haven't figured out a new name yet.
Actually, yes it did, it done well until the video I did on the .249 slugs before this one, The baffle was clipped and I can no longer use it, that sucks because I liked it really well on the synthetic model and it's $40 down the drain. I shot through it maybe four times, well, four sessions should I say, it was awesome with pellets and I noticed the groups definitely being tighter. The slugs seem to work better with the original baffles in. I still have to work on the tuning for them and test them at a distance, I just bought a new house and I will be moving in a week, I'll have plenty of space to stretch it out, all I wanted was 100 yards and I know one part of the land I've got to shoot on is closer to 120, without being regulated 100 is all I need anyway.
Thanks, I'm so used to pellets going in the same hole it's hard to watch this, lol. But of course, if I tune to them they definitely will shoot better. The editing takes days on these things, the software crashes often, it's a tedious process but knock on wood, I get through it.
