What’s your favorite color for a 3ds?
The best color I've seen was a lavender white 2ds xl but, I think it was a japan exclusive. There are so many awesome special editions though. I wish the switch had more.

Really I have almost every 3ds top game not played half of them lol even started buying ds Pokemon games like conquest I don’t have a switch but plan to buy a switch 2.
a big part of the 3ds' price jump has to do with the pandemic-era bubble that formed around retro games. secondhand nintendo stuff has always been kinda expensive but now it's getting to a ridiculous degree. hopefully the market stabilizes itself at some point bc these prices are just too damn high for such old tech.

I've seen so many New 3DS XLs with cosmetic damage, dead pixels, liquid damage and faulty touch screens being sold for around 400 dollars. People seriously think someone wants a console like that, it boggles my mind. I've been trying to get a New 3DS XL myself because I have the original XL that doesn't play any of the "New" games and the prices are outrageous sometimes. I saw a beat up Fire Emblem Fates Edition 3DS being sold for 1500 dollars just because it was limited edition. It was scuffed, scratched and the screens were in poor condition yet people think they'll get that amount of money for them. It's insane. I decided to look for a Japanese console and convert it to EN because those are cheaper, but guess what? People have caught on that you can buy Japanese consoles for cheaper and now they're buying them, converting them and then selling them for 400 bucks too! It's insane and annoying as hell. I've seen New Nintendo 3DS faceplates going for 150 bucks, two pieces of plastic to make your console look pretty. The Groudon and Kyogre ones, sealed in box, those were going for 500 on a lot of places I looked. It makes it hard for people who genuinely want a console to play it and enjoy the games to get one because people always gotta make a profit. It sucks.
Lol it really is crazy. I got my 2ds XL for like $170 and it has a lot of scratches lol. It was the cheapest option at the time. It’s just crazy how valuable they are even with flaws
@@Fundores You got lucky! It's a fixer upper for sure. The reason I don't buy one like that is because the 3DS is notoriously hard to reshell and that is just not what I want to do. I'll keep my eye out for some deals if I can get them.

I guarantee it came from a collector who has money to burn, that's how there able to buy more. if i could make a suggestion, i don't know if it'd be worth getting, unless you plan on playing alot of 3d party games. Fire Emblem is a good game, but I've only played one on the GameCube, or maybe it was the Wii.
but yeah you do gotta be mindful buying from 3d parties, you just never know.
alot of electronic devices get hacked, the PSP was notorious for that.
I paid $400 for 3 new 3ds consoles from japan! (This includes shipping and handling) each 3ds was around 115-120 each
I feel like they could bring out an new version of this and it would be very popular, even more then the one at the time. Just not make it to expensive and make sure old 3ds games are playable on the new one. There are basically no portable devices on the market right now.

It is ridiculous. Glad to see others pointing this out. Really shows how foolish Nintendo was to drop 3ds manufacturing and support when they did. 🙄
They should have let the 2DS XL live a little bit longer. I think Nintendo saw 2020 as their exit ticket for the 3DS family (since not too many people at the time were wanting to buy a 3DS since most were mainly at home). If they would have waited a little bit longer then there could have been a potential increase on sales for the console.
in 2012 I took my 3ds xl to Disneyland and I'm grateful it had a camera😁
I very recently bought a new 3ds XL sun and moon edition for £250 with the box and all the papers inside aswell. 3ds was perfect with no visible damage at all and I'm glad I found it

I've just got a blue "new" 3DS XL for £170 in immaculate condition
I got a 3DS for free because my cousin didn’t play it a lot and got bored of it because he mostly had 3 games for it. So when he wanted to sell it, I told him I’d sell it for him.
I immediately cleaned it up, checked it out for any issues or damage done to it, and made sure everything was intact.
I got lots of accessories for it, and I have a spare battery on the way in the mail.

i’m waiting on my imported new 3ds ll rn!! got it used for $180 it seems like it’s in almost perfect condition it comes in the box w the charger as well. finding a good cheap 3ds isn’t difficult if you look hard enough.

I definitely am hoping to find a new Nintendo 3ds now. But one I have been interested in for a while is a special edition original 2ds console that was only released in pal regions and Japan. It is colored translucent blue, green, red, or yellow and has a gen 1 Pokemon virtual console game downloaded on it (depending on which version you buy, ex. Pokemon red is on the translucent red 2ds). I always thought the box and everything for the system looked cool. I also liked and subscribed.

The limited edition Pokémon consoles are also guaranteed (or highly likely) to have duel ips screen, which are better than the standard TN screens. Same thing with the hyrule edition new 3dsxl. This is also why they are more expensive.
You hit the nail on the head with it being unique. 3ds and DS games are hard to emulate. Not for lack of power mind you, any souped up PC can definitely emulate 3ds games. However, there are not many (if any) emulation methods that preserve the experience of playing the games as they were intended. (Think about how disappointing “The world ends with you” was when it was released on the switch. It just wasn’t designed to be played that way and the DS experience is still better).
The 3ds is probably Nintendo’s last 100% dedicated handheld. It’s hard to see Nintendo going back to handheld only consoles after the success of the hybrid switch. That makes the 3ds an end of an era for Nintendo. Nintendo’s handheld line began with the game boy and ended with the 3ds. With the trademark “3D” feature that Nintendo has tried to shoehorn into everything since the 80’s.
This last point may not prove to be true in the future (or in general). The switch is built off of Nvidia’s second generation architecture. The 3ds and WiiU COULD be Nintendo’s last consoles that were 100% proprietary. (I don’t know how to word that better, sorry). Another reason for collectors potentially to pick it up and why the 3ds is so expensive. Although if this was a reason, then the WiiU would also be sold at ridiculous prices right now. So it probably has to do with the system’s uniqueness more than anything.
Edit: Btw, not everyone mods their 3ds for the sake of piracy. There are plenty of less nefarious reasons to mod your console.
Oh I didn’t know that most of the special editions had the dual ips screens! That’s cool! Also totally didn’t even think about how it could possibly be the last 100% handheld. That’s very true. There’s something so nice/comforting about it being a handheld.

I’m so glad that I held onto my 3ds XL I got back in 2015 I just wish I still had all of my games. To replace the Pokémon games I had is super expensive and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get them all back (sigh). I couldn’t imagine wanting to get into the 3ds now.
just mod it and install the freeshop no point wasting money on used games since that moneys not going to the devs anyways.

Managed to grab a 2DS XL for 119.99 on Ebay today, after 5 days ago having a 3DS XL I found for £100 be refunded to me for...some reason (I assume the seller saw how high the prices were rising). Excited to homebrew it when it arrives. It's quite steep for such an old handheld, but with demand rising I'm sure I'll be saving perhaps hundreds down the line if Nintendo doesnt add 3DS/DS BC to the Switch Eshop.

Some new 3ds xls have a ips screen on upper lower or both screens, and that raises up the price by a decent bit!
I just ordered a japanese new 3ds and I was looking at the pokemon red/blue face plates on ebay and they were going for like $1100 AUD just the plates, no console included.

The DSI XL is also expensive all the ones I found on eBay are in terrible condition or Japanese models in semi decent condition and they are the best DS console to play original DS games.
I had the og 3ds last year and surprised to say, it became my favorite handheld of all time due to the uniqueness of its games.
I want a 3ds because of the nostalgia, I used to have a lot of the 3ds games until my little brother got my case and lost some of them in his room or something, but I still have ultra sun and I think mario ds somewhere which is some games that are way too nostalgic for me.
I recently went to a vintage stock and a little kid walks in and was asking about what it was and how it worked and what games you play on it

Found a regular 3DS at around 2,200 pesos or 38 usd dollars (according to google) and it has no major issues except for the Dpad's paint chipping off. I was originally planning to get a NEW 3DS but opted for the regular one because imo, it's not worth it when the prices are high af even when it has many issues.
With that kind of money, I decided to just buy a switch instead of a N3DS.
I have a galaxy blue new 3DS XL it’s about 5 years old I love it but the game cartage slot has been acting up but luckily my mom has a friend who repairs game systems so my 3DS will be getting fixed and after that it should be as good as new and reliable again so i can’t wait for that I also have a white orange 2DS XL that’s mainly my weekend/ backup DS i use I plan to use the 2DS XL when the 3DS XL is in for service. Glad I got backup. I love the 3DS/ 2DS line up. I had a Sony PSP it’s good but it doesn’t have that nostalgia feeling as much that I have with Nintendo. I’m keeping my purple 3DS/2DS XL for as long as I’m able to
I just bought my NEW 3DS LL (XL) Hot Pink and White edition from Japan…. Cost $200 and it had the CONSOLE ONLY… SMH, I had to buy a separate charger for $13…. But I do have to say the console seems to be in like new condition so I took the chance. I wish I could have gotten a US 3DS but tbh allot of them are in bad condition and the ones that aren’t are wayyyy to pricey for what they are. Not to mention Japan always have better colors for consoles.. so I’ll jus mod it when it gets here. Maybe I’ll pick a US one up later down the line when the prices eventually even out again.

Pawnshops are still selling psvita for close to the price, the handheld launched at. Even though the handheld is over 14 years old.
Similar situation with the 3ds, citra is a working 3ds emulator, just set the resolution to low, and you will get a similar experience without the 3d effect.
I bought my first o3DS (w/ Crystal case & 32gb) japanese model for 3,600PHP 2nd hand model with 70% conditioned then selling it on half of the price alongside free usb to 3ds charger cord. After having N3DS XL Samus Edition (w/ Crystal case, Hori bag, charger brick & 32gb) for 7,500PHP so I could play lesser lag and higher specs + overclocking.
I used to get em used for $137 from a local game shop
I plan on selling my practically mint Nintendo 3ds along with six games.
I am not sure about resetting it because i have two digitally downloaded games and i read they will be deleted if the account is deleted.
It's been delaying selling it because of that, as that would mean two less games to sell and I want to make decent money on it.
The buyer can easily reset it themselves if they don't want the free games included. To me you'd decrease its value by resetting it.
I've never had one but they are beautiful looking consoles,if I didn't have a switch and a couple of vitas I would definitely buy a 3ds xl,I still might one day.
I sold my Nintendo 3ds xl pearl white with original box and charger and booklets for $350 aus dollar today kind of sad. But with prices going up I had to sacrifice. Fortunately I still have my game boy advance SP red, with its original packeting and accessories that all still work, with Pokémon fire red with box and wireless adapter. I’ve owned that console since around 2005-7”

I paid 240 for mine a few months ago, A 3DS XL but not the new one and is my first time owning a 3DS ever. And then I bought myself a PSVita which I jailbroke and is my Hacked Roms System. I got the entire NES, SNES, Wonderswan Color, Sega, Gameboy and GBA libraries alongside a crap load of the best Rom Hacks ever made: Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes is on there, Pokemon Unbound, Pokemon Adventure Red, Pokemon Ash Gray, Pokemon Clover, Zelda: Parallel Worlds, New Super Mario World: 12 Magic Orbs, New Super Mario World 2: Around The World, Every Metroid Hack, FFVI hacks
All ported to their relative systems that I play in handheld instead of a stupid joypad connected to a Hard Drive or a Laptop or god forbid a keyboard.

There are at least two 3DS consoles I regret not getting when they were available:
1. The Nintendo 3DS XL New Super Mario Bros 2 special edition
2. The New Nintendo 3DS XL Hyrule Gold special edition
I hope once I get caught up on my bills and everything, I can take my time and grab them at the lowest prices possible.
I remember at one point Nintendo was selling the Nintendo 2DS and the "New" Nintendo 2DS XL for $50 and $100, respectively. Man, if it was still being sold, I would have bought it in a heartbeat!
I got the Hyrule gold edition because I figured it would never go below msrp. Boy was I right, the Zelda tax is real.
Don't bother, Nintendo are going to be remastering more 3ds games on the switch 2.

no it's because people are greedy, we get in that mindset that says, i paid this much for it why can't i. because your not a company, they have to assemble the whole thing together which cost money. we just buy it, now when it comes to games, again people just want to inflate prices. no old game is worth over a $99 no matter how good the game is.
that being said, you can find a game that's not too outrageous, it may take awhile but they do exist.
Yeah 100% but people keep buying them so they keep selling them high. Paying switch prices for a decade old console is insane. People even sell the broken ones for 100$+
@@maggz5442 well there is a catch to that part, a collector who's experienced at buying and selling, they know what to look for, but not everyone who sells things cares about condition, they just want money,
and that's the part where people can walk into a trap.
now me personally, i don't need the game to be in perfect condition, but it has to be playable, and i would prefer the game to be in a case.
i have bought games in the past like that,
a few and the price for two games i bought were under 40.
which i was surprised to find at the time, and they even came in a case.
because the most i can accept paying for an old game is less than $50.
Now what were the two games,
1 Final Fantasy 8
2 Silent Hill
I got FF8 for $29, even came in a case,
Silent Hill which actually came in it's original case, but didn't have a manual, but that was a little more, $42.
you'd think it would be the other way around.
there were other games i looked at, but they were way too high, and some didn't even have a case.
it's like who sells a game or movie without a case, that's about as bad as GameStop.
but see ill never buy a game without a case, because what tells me is, you don't care about what the condition is,
they just wanna make quick money.
but another thing you have to watch out for, is false advertising. if you buy something directly from Ebay or Amazon, you're guaranteed to get that product.
now the condition may vary, but atleast you are getting something, when you buy anything from a 3rd party, that's where you really have to be careful. because there are scammers and scalpers out there,
look at the PS5 now, i wanted to get one forever, but it ain't worth getting an original when Sony and Microsoft are selling directly, and the most you'll pay for the slim is $499.
but the original model is still going for 550, 600, i even seen a few for 700, im not paying that kinda price.
there too expensive as it is already, the worse you can do, is spend more than the retail price.
I regret selling my MH4 ultimate 3ds and just wanted to get ANY new 3ds XL. checked on ebay and new ones START at like $600 and go up to $1000+. If there are millions of 3ds consoles out there, why is the price so astronomical? I only want a brand new one so I know there will be no wear and tear. But damn I can't afford to spend that kind of money on a 3DS... =(

Nobody in their right mind would spend over full msrp £199.99 for a used new 3ds xl. In 6 more years the 3ds will be 20 years old. There will be no demand for it, as it will be old retired junk like the first gameboy that takes four AA batteries.
Most of the 3ds handhelds, I see in pawnshops and on ebay have worn down thumbsticks, yellowing. Scratched screens and loose hinges.
Condition matters.
What peaked ny internet in the 3ds and the wiiu is the charm it had, themes, badges, the consoles sounds, miiverse.. the switch is so boring in comparison
Remember everyone, the 3ds isnt "rare" or have a demand hugher than its supply, people just want you to pay the reseller tax and you have to LOVE IT, phoenix resale is your god now.
I got my 2ds modded prior to purchasing it to save me the effort.

I have an original 3DS, and I really dont like it, mainly because I freaking hate those small screens. Ive played with a 3ds xl only a handful of times in my life, and every time I have I did not want to give the console back, as going back to those small orignal 3DS screens sucks. I was going to get a new 3DS XL in 2019, but my mom got mad at me, as ofc she said I didn't need it since I had a 3DS already, and I didn't fight her. Annnnd looking back now, I should have drove her up the wall with attempts to convince her, because its 4 years later and these prices make me want to vomit! unfortunately may have to settle for a plain 3DS XL (which I can barely even do that) now because I'm short on spending cash (#brokecollegestudetnlife).

Completely agree. The prices of the original 3DS are kind of alright, but a New 3DS in a good condition start at $150 if you're lucky. I've been playing some 3DS game on emus, and I want to experience them on the original console as well; but alas, no luck for my budget. Another reason I think it is so expensive is that it is the "ultimate" way to play two-and-a-half generations of portable games (DS + 3DS + New 3DS exclusives), and of course with homebrew emus you can play pretty much all retro consoles on it.
You know that There is no better way to play Original ds Games than to Play them on the original ds right? Because the games do not look the same on the 3Ds. They Are blurry and the colors are off, if you put ds games in Your 3ds.
Well, holding my "N.N.2DS XL" which is fully modded to an insane level, i can guess why its so expensive. This thing is LOADED!
considering how outdated the hardware is these things are over priced you can get a phone cheaper then that that's way more then double how powerful compared to a 3ds. problay one that can emulate the 3ds itself.

its ridiculous as i bought a wii fir only about 40 quid and a 3ds is more expensive than a used switch (not sure about brand new prices) but i saw a new 3ds xl for over £300
I got the new 3ds as a gift on its release day and barely touched it since 2016, just upgraded from a 4gb to 128 gb and home brew it 🥵🥵🔥

What is happening with the 3ds is also happening with retro games in general. It's become a bunch of people trying to make as much money as possible as fast as possible before the price eventually goes back down. Video games have become like cards and comics. We have a lot of people buy video games who don't care about them other than the profits they can make from them. Tldr video game collecting is all about making lots of money nowadays, which wasn't always the case

I luckily bought a 2DS for only $61 and it has homebrew installed hehe
No one cares, every game is emulatable on phones. I play every console up to N64 on my android. With controller, better than any portable. Steam deck should be able to do all emulators.
