You're really underselling this game's StreePass functionality. When one of your travelers goes to another island via StreetPass they can then get passed along *again* when that player StreePasses someone else, which can continue indefinitely. But what makes it *really* cool is that you can get letters from your travelers via SpotPass. So you could send off a traveler, and then one year later get a letter from them letting you know they're currently in another country! It's really cool to know that your traveler has chained enough SreetPasses to end up somewhere totally different. That's not to mention how cool it is to receive travelers from other regions as well.
getting travelers also lets you get new clothes and special foods! at the beginning of the game you get an "export" item, that when a traveler visits a new island, will bring to the island's "import wear" shop. while taking care of travelers they can also offer you special foods themed around various cultures that can be bought using play coins, and feeding them to a mii will always have them react positively and give you some cute dialog about the food :) Travelers also get new uniforms depending on how well traveled they are, with the best uniform being a sparkly gold shirt. It's not a necessary function of the game unless you're insane and decide to try and 100% tomodachi life, but it's a very fun addition to the game if you are able to utilize it.

i agree. the only thing really connecting them is their humor, that they use miis, and the in universe references to tomodachi life in miitopia. but fundamentally they're completely different games, and the fact that miitopia has an actual storyline with characters who's personalities cannot be influenced by you and that the miitopia miis have a lot more agency than tomodachi miis already puts them in completely different ball parks.

Yeah I get that feeling too. Me, personally. I think Miitopia is better than Tomodachi Life. Tomodachi Life is still super good but like he said after a while it gets boring Miitopia isn’t like that.
Man I'm so sad Nintendo has been moving away from Miis. I know from a branding standpoint it doesn't totally make sense - but they're SO recognizable. But its over $100 in most online shopping. And thats with the cartridge only! As someone whose as cheap as Eugene Krabs, it sucks! ;(
If you’re OK with using the English patch or Google translate then you can get Tomodachi collection for very cheap *or emulate it online what who said that*
Also lesser known did you guys know Namco made a twitter-ui called AvaTwee in 2010 inwhich you made little Mii-like characters for people you followed on twitter? it was based, and someone should make one for bluesky/fediverse
there is a way to get it back through not nintendo appeasing means, but it does require you to have downloaded it at least once prior to its deletion unfortunately
11:20 think the difference between miitopia's gay relationships and hypothetical tomodachi life options is that miitopia kinda consolidates its friendship and romance systems into one single system, one where the levels are kind of up to interpretation. while yeah, the "soulmates" relationship level in miitopia absolutely has romantic implications, it can also pass off as the two miis just being really good friends. meanwhile tomodachi life explicitly divides romance and friendship into two separate systems. there's no room for interpretation. nintendo has done cool LGBTQ+ representation stuff in recent times but i feel they tend to dance around like. explicit things in their more family friendly games. at least things that can't shown in anything but dialogue. tomodachi life with gay relationships would likely require very explicit options (such as options to choose a mii's sexuality) that nintendo might not want to add in order to appeal to as broad of an audience as possible. would love to be proven wrong though
As well as this, the explicitly romantic roles of Miitopia are still gendered and straight. You can set a female Mii to be the "Lovey-Dovey Man," but it's still clear that you're supposed to cast a male Mii for that role. Same for the Neksdor couple, and the Princess love triangle. Actually, I think the only non-party non-Traveller's Hub role without an assigned gender is the Great Sage.
Hey, if you're dying for more Tomodachi Life-like games, a new game called New Day on Steam is coming out on, I think, Christmas Day for early access. I can't wait. Also, to add to what i would want in a new game, some sort of sending out miis maybe or a rpg like game, i think it would be cool.
I think Nintendo should keep Mii's around, they're so unique for an avatar creator, and the fact every other big console platform pretty much abandoned avatars all together makes Nintendo even more different from the others for having Mii's around still
The sad part is that it's been long enough that I've made up ideas for a sequel that will probably be cooler than the actual sequel, but I also really wanna trust the people making it since it's just such a fun and creative game...
Dude thank you for voicing my frustration, i spend so much time playing this game and i want to have a nintendo switch version because being able to the miitopia level of customization would be insane
I like how Scott says he doesn't want to play Tomodachi Collection on the original DS because it's in Japanese as if the fan translation that's existed for years isn't right there lol
Another suggestion for Tomodachi Life 2 Suggestion, you can suggest for a Mii to meet another Mii or date another Mii. They will meet or date, it can go well, it can go poorly. They could get married or loathe each other. It’s a tiny bit of player control that still leaves it in the hands of the Miis
fun fact, the Myers-Briggs personality test was invented for Tomadachi Life, and literally nothing else. there is no other application for it. this is the only place it's ever been used.
Tomodachi life 2 be like: 90% I'd like a new hat. 1%miis farting. 1%Dont like what you buy them. 5%Mii sadness. 1%i want new clothes. 1%miis least favorite food is tap water
I never played Tomodachi Life, but I have a lot of nostalgia for Miitomo. It was fun and unique. The director of the Zero Escape series followed me and commented on a couple of my posts. It was a very fun time.
You didn't research how much Street Pass does in Tomodachi Life and it shows. It's one of the best uses of SP in fact. Also it's fine if you don't like Miitopia, but it's kinda dumb to compare it to TL. It's not a spiritual sequel, they're not connected, it's just another game that uses miis.

The only Nintendo game where you can have your Mii’s curse.
i remember giving a high school friend my copy of Miitopia after i finished it 100%
I wonder what the copy is up to now
I want this game so bad. After watching Vinny, Saltydkdan, and Poofesure. I've wanted this game so bad. And now i want it even more after Oneyplays started playing it. But its over $100 in most online shopping. And thats with the cartridge only! As someone whose as cheap as Eugene Krabs, it sucks! ;(
Just hack your 3DS and use hShop?
If you’re OK with using the English patch or Google translate then you can get Tomodachi collection for very cheap *or emulate it online what who said that*
@@GlitteringChesh Did my Emulation comment get deleted? Jesus...
if you don't mind piracy you can always hack your 3ds and use hshop
The fact we never got one on Switch is crazy, ESPECIALLY after the Miitopia Port. Praying for Switch 2.
these cowards won't bring back miitomo
Also lesser known did you guys know Namco made a twitter-ui called AvaTwee in 2010 inwhich you made little Mii-like characters for people you followed on twitter? it was based, and someone should make one for bluesky/fediverse
there is a way to get it back through not nintendo appeasing means, but it does require you to have downloaded it at least once prior to its deletion unfortunately
this is the most relatable Scott's Stash video I've ever seen
Tomodachi life is very charming.
Like the limited 3D they used for Pokemon Black and White
Bro probably thinks The Sims isnt played by children😂😂
Tomodachi Life has the potential for SO MUCH more, it's insane. Surely they wouldn't just abandon it.
You get another Tomodachi Life. It only uses the characters from Switch Sports. The Monkey's Paw curls.
Bro sounded like the L4D2 hunter
Hey, if you're dying for more Tomodachi Life-like games, a new game called New Day on Steam is coming out on, I think, Christmas Day for early access. I can't wait.
Also, to add to what i would want in a new game, some sort of sending out miis maybe or a rpg like game, i think it would be cool.
What’s amusing about 2:26 is that I can totally see (and hear) Joe saying that in character
And it’s about a Pumpkin Pie outbreak too, He had a pumpkin patch at one point lol
I think Nintendo should keep Mii's around, they're so unique for an avatar creator, and the fact every other big console platform pretty much abandoned avatars all together makes Nintendo even more different from the others for having Mii's around still
Arguably one of the best video titles in the whole channel
Never connected Tomodachi and Miitopia… Miitopia was just a longer version of StreetPass Quest.
in the big ol ‘24 i still regularly play this game. its even more fun if you have friends around and you guys just make stuff up about the miis
Perfect timing! I've been hyper focusing on Tomodachi life for the past three days
this is the least surprising intro I've ever seen. we all knew that would happen
As someone who still plays on my 3DS... YES. WE NEED A TOMODACHI LIFE SEQUEL.
The sad part is that it's been long enough that I've made up ideas for a sequel that will probably be cooler than the actual sequel, but I also really wanna trust the people making it since it's just such a fun and creative game...
0:03 No no, you’re not being overdramatic, you’re not being dramatic *enough*, give us our Tomodachi Life or give us death papa Nintendo
You and me both buddy. Miitopia is my 3rd favorite game of all time and since it gave me hope for more 3Ds ports, its only a matter of time
GENUINELY, how has there not been another one with it's numbers. There are SO MANY THINGS IT CAN ADD, AGGH
You don’t know how much power you’ll all get if Nintendo adds the makeup thing in a new or remake of Tomodachi Life.
Lord. Every TH-camr I watch is talking about or playing Tomodachi Life.
Watch out Nintendo… Scott’s really gonna do it. He’s gonna scream…
Can you imagine the power a new tomodachi life would have on switch 😭 it would be so much fun, I really hope they pursue it
Dude thank you for voicing my frustration, i spend so much time playing this game and i want to have a nintendo switch version because being able to the miitopia level of customization would be insane
I like how Scott says he doesn't want to play Tomodachi Collection on the original DS because it's in Japanese as if the fan translation that's existed for years isn't right there lol
He’s the guy who can’t hack a Wii. I dread to think what would happen if he tried running a rom hack on ds.
Alternative title: Scott Wozniak nukes people with pure truth and facts for 17 minutes and 22 seconds
We need Scott to scream over Streetpass too! ❤
Another suggestion for Tomodachi Life 2
Suggestion, you can suggest for a Mii to meet another Mii or date another Mii.
Tomodachi life 2 be like:
90% I'd like a new hat.
1%miis farting.
1%Dont like what you buy them.
5%Mii sadness.
1%i want new clothes.
1%miis least favorite food is tap water
just like the game they critiqued, this video doesn't have a lot going on and is repetitive! wow 🤩
Please i have been begging for this far years.
I never played Tomodachi Life, but I have a lot of nostalgia for Miitomo. It was fun and unique. The director of the Zero Escape series followed me and commented on a couple of my posts. It was a very fun time.
I don’t own a 2DS, I own a Tomodachi Device.
finally someone understands my pain
9:52 scott says sans
9:56 is when he says it, actually
@jerrysgardentractorsengine2243 Sans pp
i like miitopia because i like watching my friends and my characters and stuff interact so silly like
You didn't research how much Street Pass does in Tomodachi Life and it shows. It's one of the best uses of SP in fact. Also it's fine if you don't like Miitopia, but it's kinda dumb to compare it to TL. It's not a spiritual sequel, they're not connected, it's just another game that uses miis.
Miitopia slander... I cant do this anymore
Waddle dee
@@dango5928 scarfy
Well, you're in the wrong place.
Its so fucking generic man😰😰
I can't believe the price of this game in 2024.
I need a Tomodachi Life 2 for so many reasons
i will HAVE A HEART ATTACK AND DIE if i dont get another tomodachi life
Tomodachi life is one of my favorite games ever. I love the charm from this game and I love Miis. We need a sequel on the Switch 2.
Welcome to the club, Scott!
I loved this game so much back in the 3DS days. I still start it up every now and then to see what the gang is up to. I too will now scream that we haven't gotten a sequel to Tomodachi Life.
AH-...
0:57 I've played Tomodachi Collection before, it was fun!
