    This was really helpful, and what I did! I got a job as a chemical dependency professional trainee while in my last year for my bachelors in psychology. I’ll go on to grad school while with this same company and have the ability to promote with experience, graduation, etc. Also, I'll be able to do my internship/residency requirements at my place of work.

      Amazing! Thanks for sharing your experience. Securing the internship and the associated requirements are usually a point of stress for some people. Glad it worked out for you!

    With psychology bachelor I find it puts you in a wierd scenario , there isn’t enough job demand for your skill and it’s extremely competitive . The degree itself isn’t skills based it’s mostly theory and on paper.

      I appreciate your comment! With bachelors, some people have opportunities to do internships or work in careers that are involved in 1:1 client care (e.g., working in a residential facility, with a crisis team, group homes, hospital settings for some). I agree with you that it is sometimes difficult to lock down a job with a bachelors. Most of us go for graduate school training. But! It all depends on your individual goals :) With a bachelors degree, I worked in some amazing facilities in NJ!

    Hi Kristen, thank you so much for your videos, they are so informative and honest ❤️ I would love to have your opinion on my current situation: I just turned 34 and have been working in business for 10 years, I’m currently thinking of a career change and hope to be a clinical psychologist. Do you think its a bit too late for me to start this pathway from studying GDPS ? And what are jobs available after GDPS or Honors programme? Many thanks in advance X

      hey sonia! so sorry for the late reply here. it's never too late! i had a few people in my cohort and internship who were a little older and i learned so much from them. they had incredible life experience and i noticed that they were able to roll with the changes that came along with the degree and internship. i think it would be a great move!

    Hi! Did you get your PsyD after your bachelors or after completing a Masters? I'm a junior majoring in Psych and minoring in Education and right now I am torn between going for a PsyD after my bachelors or doing a Masters in IO psych.

      Hey there! Check out my very first video. I got a bachelors then masters then applied for a PsyD. But I didn’t have to. I was going to go a different route and decided on PsyD at the last minute

    If I don't go onto masters and to get a PhD, do you think id be able to have a stable job just with a bachelors in psychology and minor in something I am no sure of yet. Im so torn on choosing a major and psychology is one of the only things that interests me.

    I have an honours in psychology and am trying to find a master's program so i can be a counseling psychologist. I have been contacting so many universities and they keep ralking anout mental health counseling and am like no! I want a master's on psychology because i want to be a counseling psychologist. I am originally from South Africa and in my country you just need to have a master's to be a psychologist so i don't know much about the process here in the States. Been doing my research because i don't want to get in the wrong program 😅

    • @emibitro9744
      @emibitro9744 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe to become a clinical psychologist you will need a PhD doctorate degree. I'm not 100% sure thou, I started searching for these kind of things, but every article/post had said the same thing. But you can search what you can do with a bachelors degree.

    My advice, get a degree in another field, psychology even at the doctorate level doesn’t pay well.

    For a nurse wanting to enter clinical psychology, how much do you think having a bachelors in nursing would help on that career path?? Just a couple semesters from finishing 🥲
