    I'm convinced that the reason companies list entry level or basic jobs as "5+ years experience" is to stiff candidates in salary negotiations. Along the lines of saying "I'm sorry you don't meet the requirements we can only offer the minimum of the range".

    I would love it if you could make a video about getting a job with no references. My cousin is just starting out after graduating last year and still can’t get any call backs. Also sometimes adults who left a toxic relationship have no references because everyone they knew would repeat the lies their ex tells just to hurt them and be in good with that ex. Myself and some of my family have been through this exact scenario

    • @vvonderweiss
      @vvonderweiss ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Is it possible for your cousin to start freelancing? Vivian has a post where she lists site for remote work and freelance. If you need references, sometimes just completing a few tasks for another is enough to put on a resume if that person can be a reference. Volunteer work also can help provide references. To be honest, it's hard to get callbacks unless a place has a high turn over or is an agency. Agencies aren't my fave but they WILL make sure you are employed within a month or less. Even if it's not a desirable job, 6 months of training and diligence can help boost a resume and create networks to find news jobs without an agency.

    • @vvonderweiss
      @vvonderweiss ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol😂 you would think. Nope, entry level means low entry pay now. You need at least an associates or bachelor's degree or 5 years of related experience in most jobs except those with high turnover.
