    I'm sorry, I know you mean well but all these jobs/career options all need additional schooling, time and money after you get your bachelor's degree. This is very misleading as I looked up every position mentioned and they all need more time, money and training. That is not what you can do with a Bachelor's. This video is so depressing

But your a support system for the child and family. So if a child is about get a series of shots, you would be there to give comfort like play therapy or if a teenager is going through a major surgery you would talk to them about their fears. Also a little social work like providing referrals. But this requires additional training. It’s rewarding but it’s also very emotional because you will see a child die 😢

    A BA in Psychology is the biggest con degree ever. Yes it's interesting, but who's trying to pay you for that? If you don't intend to get a masters or PhD forget being able to live a comfortable life. Found out the hard way that helping people only doesn't pay, but you make just enough not to qualify for government assistance. If that's the life you want get a BA in Psychology. And case management sucks! I don't know why people think it's good. It's alot of work for little pay. Sorry but it's the truth. Graduated 16 years ago and have worked in mental health, and I can't get a job making more than $42,000! Think about that! That's robbery. At least teachers get perks and discounts. You get nothing. And the skills aren't even transferable. Mental health workers are under valued. I would have gotten a finance, technology or healthcare degree if I had to do it all over again. This is a cautionary tale for anyone that will listen. You may say I don't care about the money. Trust me you will.

    Awesome! Thanks so much. I was thinking that I was interested in research but when you mentioned statistics I started to have second thoughts. Now I’m thinking more like case manager. • @AsToldByBrandy
      @AsToldByBrandy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So many decisions! 😁 And I’m glad you found this helpful! 💜 And to answer your question it depends on the role and setting you’re in. Sometimes there is a case management department in an organization that you can work your way up in and eventually do more supervision/managerial work. In general, case management can provide you with so many transferable skills that could make you more marketable for a management position elsewhere!

    • @AsToldByBrandy
      @AsToldByBrandy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!! Such great options. It honestly depends on the requirements of your Psych program and varies from school to school some may require an internship or field placement and others may not (although I always think it's beneficial to get internship experience whether it's required or not if possible) With teaching, usually you would have to major in the subject you're interested in and be in the education program simultaneously. With becoming a teacher there is usually a required teaching field placement where you get experience within the classroom in order to graduate. Going into guidance counseling has different requirements with field placements at the Master's level =)

    I am an ABA therapist and let me tell you that it’s a new field, not quite respected by anyone yet and you definitely have to love the field before you can care about the pay. Starting pay ranges for an RBT is $14-$25/hr. BCBA get paid salary but you do not need a masters in ABA anymore to be a BCBA.

    • @whoome1638
      @whoome1638 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely do not get respect as a RBT or BCBA. However, you absolutely do need a masters to become a BCBA. The BACB will not let anyone sit for the exam without a masters degree. If a company hired a person with just a masters in ABA and no license, RUN from that company. It’s very unethical and their services are not helping the family nor client

      Such a tough decision! I actually did the opposite and minored in communications while majoring in Psychology and Social Work. That worked for me knowing that I wanted to work directly in the field of mental health and counseling however if a communications degree is more suitable for where you want to be in the future and a minor in psychology can enhance some of the skills you're cultivating in that program it may be a better fit. A bachelor's degree also isn't the end all be all if you want to pursue different career paths in the future =)

      It depends on the job you're applying for, employers these days are typically looking for related experience or skills that can be transferrable to the role at hand =)

      @@Ayesha-es4nq I was very interested in psych major at one point but didn't chose it since people in Pakistan doesn't take mental health seriously and there's no a lot money in psych but now after this video and some other resources I get to know there are other things in psych too which can make good money. I'm planning on doing masters in consumer behavior (marketing with focus on psych).
