Editor's note: since the time of publishing the original video & narration (2020), Wright has gone on to make his 2021 "Last Night in Soho," which is now (at the time of publishing this video, 2024) his most recent film. I can't wait to see what he and Simon Pegg create next!

Really liked this quick essay! Pacing is definitely something I've been working on a lot in my own filmmaking. Not being afraid to chop up the video to speed up slower bits, but also having the ability to know when to slow something down. I'll get there someday!

So glad you enjoyed it!! Totally, it's an intuition that can always evolve and improve. The best part is that there's so many different ways to pace things, and it all comes down to what you want your viewers to feel. Thanks for watching!!!

Dang it Steven now I can't not think about this every time I watch something hahaha jk, I appreciate having this perspective on films because it addresses the unconscious attraction to our favorite films and makes it possible for us to apply it in our own work. Solid video bro

HAHA oh man what have I done! Appreciate it bro haha, that's exactly it, there's so much good stuff to inform our own work with. So glad you enjoyed it!

I love smaller videos like this! Quick to watch and to the point. Great pacing! 😁
A tiny nitpick! You said you filmed something like Baby Driver but the actions in the clip were not on beat. So disappointed.... (I am just kidding don't take it seriously 😅)
