    I have the Rush Speed Version which arrived end of 2021. An assembly issue with the front fender rivnut, but, serial 1 support utilized a local bike mechanic to repair. Shortly after getting on the road, the Enviolo AutomatiQ hub wouldn't shift upwards past mid range... App related? At the same time the Brose Controller started indicating i was traveling at twice the rate of speed. There is a Little Magnet hidden on the rear disk brake rotor with a pickup on/in the AutomatiQ shifter housing- not sorted out yet but again, serial 1 is working to resolve utilizing my local bike mechanic. It's a beautiful bike, it rides smooth. I added a Kinetik suspension seat post to it... but the big Schwalbe tires can also be slightly deflated to give a pretty floaty ride. With the integrated wires running around the headset i don't know if we can switch to a suspension front fork like a wren or fox; don't know if we need to. Once i get my bike back on the road i will access my options. I'm not new to ebikes so compared to my Trek Super Commuter 8 this bike is much more comfortable to ride and looks much cleaner. The front rack is worthless except to hold the fender on... perhaps some genius can make an adapter so you can actually carry some water (yep, no water bottle bosses) wtf. The rear rack just hold the fender on, but it can take an ortllieb or other type of pannier, but you better use some clear protective tape on the contact points of the frame to prevent paint damage. I don't know why they didn't incorporate the MIK rack system? I've ordered an adaptor for the MIK system to see if it will match. Regarding the Enviolo App and pairing and adjusting settings - i wouldn't use it until HD comes out with their own App since using my Enviolo App screwed up something? or so I'm guessing.

    36V 250W (560W peak) 90Nm torque sensing German motor
    which means it’s a 36V 10s6p battery pack given the capacity
    reviewers have all indicated that it’s more than enough for its intended purpose: urban riding.
    A Class 3 bike can be had for $1500 (Aventon Level, kits for less than that), but you’ll tend to find them at around $3000, but none of those come with AT and belt drive which is a ~$500 upgrade. The Serial 1 Speed may cost more than something like the Dost Kope (a bike comparable in specs & standard features), but it does come in under any Riese-Muller belt model and those are not even Class 3.
    I figure you’re paying a $1500-$2000 premium for the Speed. but it is a much better looking and cleaner bike. Even with the simpler transmission allowed by the hardtail, I too was surprised there was no front or seat post suspension. I think I would’ve preferred that over the glove compartment.

    $5000 would get a good used motorcycle and even some 125cc bikes brand new. I can't see me spending anywhere over $1000 for a bicycle.
    My Giant MTB cost me £350 over 10 years ago I am now fitting the Bafang 750W mid drive kit to it at £600 including battery which I still think is expensive. Lol.
    I think the 250W motor might be for the UK market as that is the street legal wattage here and maybe around Europe.
    Ducati have a much nicer ebike at £5600.

    You know that's 250 continuous watts. It probably bursts to like 750. Good thing it has those sturdy boo-boo avoiding brakes;)
    There are some really nice e-bikes out there burdened by their adherence to gutless Euro-spec motors.
    For half the price I'd rather have the Priority Current with similar specs...and I'm unlikely to have that either.
    Long live the BBSxx;)

  • @rishikamra

    A mid drive motor just needs about half or less power of a rear drive hub motor to give the same or better performance. That should be the reason for the motor choice.

    5 Grand???? DAAAMN! for 4 grand, I can build a 27 Kilowatt Stealth Bomber knock off that will out 60 foot almost anything on the streets! Specialized offers a Commo bike with a 250 watt motor also.
    This is like buying a 200 thousand dollar Lamborghini and having it come with a 4 Cyl. Pinto engine! Great video anyhow, thanks John!

    Your opinion of Harley Davidson is puzzling...I've had Harleys that vibrated everything loose constantly...Thinking they must have reengineered a hub shifter, I don't know, version one, doubtful......Wait until it comes out and we check it out before recommending....LOL....It's the same as every other over engineered, overpriced, bike company praying on the ignorant masses...

    • @boomerangrocksnc
      @boomerangrocksnc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had 2 harleys over the years and neither of them had a single issue. Never leaked any oil, very reliable, built like tanks and absolutely fun to ride.

  • @1722blackbart
    @1722blackbart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yeah Harley is overpriced. But they also make high quality reliable products. I know the haters will disagree but their opinions are based on 40 year old information. Harley also is great at innovation. The problem is their core customer base hates innovation. I bought a V-Rod the first year they offered it (2002). I still have that bike. It's rock solid reliable and still one of the most bad ass motorcycles on the road to this day. But the traditional Harley customers never accepted it. The problem now is the traditional Harley customers are all dying off. And most everyone else has an antiquated and incorrect view of Harley Davidson. These ebikes are Harley attempting to innovate into a new market. I hope they succeed. I have ordered a Mosh myself. Also these bikes are all the CTY model (city). I bet they eventually come out with a MTB or OHV model line too, assuming they manage to sell enough of these. End rant...

    How hard would it to be to swap the motor out with a Bafang?

    • @magnusskallagrimsson6707
      @magnusskallagrimsson6707 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Brose is integral to the design. Swapping it out would not be an option. The Brose performs well. I have tried the S Mag on other bikes and the Serial 1. Lots of power and it holds its own.

      @@JohnnyNerdOut I went for the BMC v4 2000w from ebay at Christmas. hpcbikes.com put a front hub conversion kit for $350. They dialed down the 50amp controller for me and I was able to use some 48v batteries I already had. 48v 30amp, I'm running about 1500watts.
