That was fun and interesting .Perhaps a show on food in Victorian literature or maybe a review of a Victorian cookbook.

What a lovely video 😊 Electric mixers are definitely one thing I’d keep from the 21st century!

Reminds me a lot of McVities Jamaican Ginger cake. Nice with Custard.

I adored The Victorian Farm and I LOVE love Love Ruth Goodman. Ruth Mott is also a lady to look out for when it comes to Victorian cooking.
Admire your determination to forego the mixer!

Hahaha yea, I'm keeping the electric mixer around when I can. And thank you! I'll have to look into Ruth Mott.

That looks so good! My mum used to make gingerbread cake like this when I was little, and she used to ice it. It’s interesting you use fresh ginger for gingerbread - I feel like everyone in the UK only bakes with ground ginger!

Thank you. This was interesting especially the links you provided. I love gingerbread cake, however, I like mine very gingery and fluffy, not dense. And of course warm with a big dollop of whipped cream. Great video. 👏🏻🍂

Thank you! And yea, this gingerbread cake wasn't my favorite in the end.

I enjoy these cooking videos so much!
I usually take the butter out of the fridge a few hours before working with it, to save a lot of effort. It doesn't get spoiled and trully makes your life easier 😅. You can also wrap it in film and hit it with a rolling pin a few times but that's not the best way with a baby sleeping in the house 😂 It makes the butter softer though

Thank you! Yea, I left the butter out for a bit, but not quite long enough and I was so eager to film. Hahaha I'm just imaginging waking him by hitting butter with a rolling pin. That would have been the end of this video right there.

You need to invest in a wooden spoon. 😂
