How nice to come home from work and find this long, extra video from you. I love Autumn too and can't wait to watch this after dinner when I gave finished all my chores and can relax fully with my cup of tea. Your channel has been my comfort zone for several years and I hope you realise how much enjoyment you bring to your subscribers. Thank you for everything you do, Miranda. ❤
Thanks so much for your kind message, Suzy! I hope you enjoy getting cosy with your tea later this evening and having a watch. Enjoy the rest of the week ❤️
Why did I not know about Saltaire…..what a wonderful place to visit…….thank you so much for taking us all along with you & your Mum. Finding this extra video truly made my day….bless you.
Once again, your generosity in sharing your special outings with your special Mum is a true treat! Thank you so much. I get your channel all set up, get myself a cup of Autumn tea and sit in my reading chair to enjoy a visit with you and your Mum. Thank you for your time and thoughtfulness. Oh dear, more books to get for my TBR stack. Sigh, such a lovely dilemma. Best wishes from Alabama, where I get impatient for Autumn’s arrival and it’s presence is too short.
I so enjoy your videos. I love the book choices, but especially love being taken along with you and your Mom shopping and seeing the scenery. It's just so lovely. Thank you.
Hi Miranda, another fabulous video especially the day trip to Salts Mill. What a beautiful village. So peaceful makes me want to live there. The bookshop was beautiful and the stationary beautiful what to buy must be hard. The paintings on the wall are breathtaking and same with antiques. Flowers will look lovely in the vase. Please, please do more day trips I enjoy them. I look forward to you next video. I hope you and your mom have beautiful week. MaryAnn 😊
We've had three days of gray, stormy weather in New England, so it really did feel like an escape with both of you on a rainy day. It's always so fun to tag along. Thank you!
Thanks so much for your very kind support, Wendy! I so appreciate it ❤️ What a lovely part of the world you live in! Saltaire is such an interesting place!
Hi Miranda and Donna, thank you for a lovely surprise video. I have so enjoyed it this morning. We have a painting of Salts Mill in our dining room, a souvenir of holidays in Yorkshire when our children were much younger, but I have never been there myself. I know I would not have managed to come away from the bookshop without some purchases. And David Hockney conveys such joy and delight in his paintings, they seem to welcome you into the magic of nature, even the ones where it’s pouring with rain!! We passed through Normandy last week on our way to the Loire and stopped off early in the morning in a very pretty village called Beuvron sur Auge, sitting in the village square with coffee and treats from the boulangerie felt like being immersed in a Hockney painting!! Thank you for all the delight you bring
Thanks so much for your kind words, Lesley! I hope you can make it to Salts Mill yourself before too long! Normandy sounds like another lovely place to visit ❤️📚🇫🇷
Wonderful day and chat! I so enjoy your videos! So many interesting books to read and savor. I also enjoyed your visit to Saltaire. Beautiful! Thank you so mcuh!
Hello Miranda, thanks for taking us along on your outing to Saltaire. Although I’ve passed through it a couple of times recently, it’s a long time since I visited Salts Mill, so I must make an effort to go again. Have a lovely week.
Thank you for a lovely video Miranda. We went to concert by Black Duke Brass Band many years ago at The Victoria Hall Saltaire. which was wonderful. The whole.village looked so intereresting.Such a fantastic place to go.
The vase is so lovely! I want to say a big hello to your mom. I love the videos you do together. My daughter and I are very close as well and it is such a blessing in life to have a mom/daughter for a best friend. You are both such interesting and lovely people!
Thank you for the lovely video . The David Hockney was Amazing , as were the picture books . Have been meaning to buy James Herriot's collection of stories for kids.. it sounds so good.
Hello Miranda. Enjoying your videos. You offer and create a happy, relaxing and calm atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your joy of books and life. 🌺 🌷Sam 🇨🇦
Hi Miranda, I'm having the most hectic week with very little time so I will rewatch this to take it all in properly, but the Ink Dark Moon poetry collection has appealed to me for some time because I am very interested in Japanese literature and these little poems are perfect for when I'm too tired or busy to read anything else - like now! I too appreciate their age. I noticed that Basho's Haiku is now a Little Clothbound Classic in a bookshop the other day. I also find The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon really interesting to dip into. There are a lot of lists which I have used as titles to create my own and some of it is still surprisingly relevant and similar to our thoughts today.
Love your day trips with your mum! The Poole pottery was especially lovely as a reminder for you both of your trip to Saltaire. Always look forward to your posts, Miranda. Thank you.❤
Thank you so much for your lovely channel. I am reading James Herriot atm and I got The shooting party, a home for all seasons & north woods on the way ❤
Thank you as always for your mature, so thoughtful and timely and So, so lovely videos. So glad you mentioned North Woods by Daniel Mason, our US cover has a cougar couchant. Had it not been for your mention now, I'd wanted to read it seeing it on Sunday at main display at my large bookstore up the next hill and had already forgot it. Our US cover has the orange cover tones. Lovely great pottery find! As I passed our neighborhood ceramics shop Sunday there was a great Sale and I got a lovely cup and plate 1st time in!
Thank you for your lovely video Miranda and Donna. I felt like I went with you both on your trip to Saltaire. I appreciate how you show everything slowly so you feel like you are right there browsing at everything. I thoroughly enjoyed the David Hockney art exhibit. The timing was so perfect as I am reading his book “Spring cannot be cancelled”. He wrote it while he was in Normandy and it has a lot of his paintings in it. Maybe you have read it. If not I am sure you would enjoy it. I am always looking forward to your next video. Thank you !!!
Thank you Miranda and Donna for such a lovely video. I have ordered books from the Salts Mill bookshop before now and my husband is very familiar with Saltaire having worked nearby some years ago. We are both inspired by your video to make a visit on our way from Hornsea to Ambleside in October as we will need to break the journey - it will be very special to see the Hockney exhibition and especially as it looked so good in your video. 🍂🧡
Love hearing about all the books, so enjoyable! I always like travelling with you about the countryside and visiting the lovely shops, wish I was there too!! Take care, may both of you have a wonderful week! Till next time!! 🥰🇨🇦
Thank you for this treat of an extra video. Salts Mill looks like an amazing space as does the David Hockney exhibit. I love how the seasons just blend one into the other and the work goes on and on - must have been wonderful to view in person. Enjoy your precious little jam pot!💕
Thank you, Nancy! I loved how the seasons blended together too, and how each 'micro season' was represented as well. Hope you're having a good week! xxx
Hello Miranda and Donna! I think you ladies are just lovely! Thank you for taking us along on your outing!! I’m from Ohio in the United States and near where I live there is a Presidential First Ladies museum. They were featuring Jackie Kennedy and I saw a book there that immediately made me think of you! It was a copy that her sister Lee Bouvier wrote called One Special Summer. What made me think of you was the illustrations..they are fabulous! If you ever run across a copy I highly recommend it!! Thank you for everything you do!!
Thanks so much, Julia! I’m really happy you enjoyed the trip to Saltaire. I’ll definitely look out for the book - thanks so much for the recommendation ❤️📚
I also have Ink Dark Moon. The very first poem, 'Did he appear...' made me sit up and pay attention in a boring English class many years ago. I never forgot it, or the impact it had on me. Thank you for taking us on your trip with you. Enjoy your Poole pottery. x
Another beautiful vlog! I always learn so much from your vlogs....and I always come away 'richer' by a book or two! Thank you for taking us along on your day trip. So very lovely and interesting. It's always a treat to see your Mom! The little jam pot/vase is just perfect. It will look so nice in your home! I can't wait to get over to Yorkshire someday. :)
What a wonderful treat to see an extra video from you! I loved seeing the books, and Salts Mill looked like such a beautiful place to browse. I especially loved the David Hockney painting. Thanks to both of you for bringing us along!
What a beautifully preserved Victorian village, somewhere I've not visited in Yorkshire, I must remedy that soon. I do adore David Hockney's art, and that particular installation is so interesting. Another great episode with more fabulous books to be added to the tbr pile, especially the Persephone one 😉 . Thank you Miranda and Donna .
such an enjoyable video again and great book recommendations thank you Miranda, I think i am going to listen to Gavin Plumley read his book 'A Home For All Seasons' on Audible
hi miranda, i‘ve been enjoying your videos for quite some time now. this latest video was especially lovely! book talk, an outing to saltaire (still on my „must visit“ list), art and some time with your lovely mum - what a treat! thank you. you really put a smile on my face. 😊 regards to your darling mum! all the best, monica (currently living in austria) 📚🐾🐾
Miranda & Donna - you girls are so lucky to have towns with bookstores. Here in the US-Midwest we have few remaining. Even the large box book stores are disappearing as they want mail order - hate that. I looked up your little Poole vase. I do not know this brand) from the 1920’s - I found a tiny vase for $500 USD. Is that a good price? Also, thanks about that light recommendation and I’ve reached out to them. I’ve used several Ott lights and have donated them as they just did not provide enough light. I can’t wait to receive their catalog and find my new light. Keep up the good job you do. I so value your blogs.
That's very expensive for Poole pottery, at least over here! You can still find some in charity shops on lucky occasions, or plenty for under £50 ( as I did). Hope you enjoy having a look through the lights! xxx
Autumn has brought a lot of surprises for me. I would have to say this video has been the best by far. Thank you for taking us on this trip. What a truly lovely place. The book suggestions were outstanding. Thank you.
So nice to have an extra video and what a vlog! The bookshop you and your mum visited was wonderful, the books but also the seasonal cards 😍 I’d love to have a shop like that near me! Also, very interesting titles you showed in the footage from the bookshop, as well as your reads and new-in books catchup. The art was amazing too! ❤
Loved watching this extra video! I’m eager to read North Woods by Daniel Mason too, the cover here in the U.S. is very different. It’s so interesting to see the different artwork chosen!
Thanks so much for your very kind support, Meghan! I so appreciate it! I must say I think the UK edition dust wrapper is very attractive - I must check out the US one now! ❤️📚
What a lovely treat books ,a trip with you and your mom lovely surprise.I’m reading and enjoying The Farmers Wife.Hope you both have a wonderful week.🥰
Thank you This was a lovely watch sitting with a new autumn mug and a pumpkin candle on a dull afternoon I just don't know how you manage to read so many books I love autumn Hope you both have a wonderful week
I love the excursions that you and your mom take! Any time we want to attend an art exhibit here (San Francisco area), it is such a big deal. Parking alone will make you think twice (availability and cost)! Although, it is usually worth it - art is such a treat!!
Hello Miranda tfs your latest books appreciate when you list them all for us . . I love when you and your mom go out and show us the town / stores enjoyed the book store and antique shopping w/you both have a wonderful rest of the week take ❤️🙋♀️🌻🍁💐🍂🌼🪻⚘️
I loved this extra bonus video! I really enjoyed seeing all the books you shared and you showing us around on your trip out together with Donna. I'm ashamed to say that I have been really surprised by how much there is to go and see in Yorkshire outside of the norm that you think of and I am thoroughly enjoying exploring with you! I also love how you always track down a book shop/stall/sale! Thank you for sharing - you both look really well. I hope you have a lovely birthday when it arrives x
What a wonderful surprise! Thank you for the extra and for taking us along with you to Salts Mill. I'd never have known of it otherwise! (Beautiful art!)
Thanks, Miranda. Very enjoyable. I heard Fiona Davidson on the Gardening with the RHS podcast (14th Sept) talking about some of the women gardeners. Most interesting. And the jam pot/vase is really sweet. I don't think there is much of that older style Poole pottery around here (not surprising maybe since our earthquakes in 2010 and 2011). Meredith
A vlog from Miranda. What a treat! I love the sound of 'A House for all Seasons' and really enjoyed the trip to Saltaire. It looks delightful. Thank you Miranda (and your Mum). ❤😊
This was wonderful! I'm particularly intrigued by the book, "Impossible Creatures," with its delicious opening lines! But all the books you mentioned are ones I will consider for future reads. The Poole "vase" will indeed offset a small posey of flowers beautifully, as Donna suggested. I am always impressed by the flowers in your videos: so lovely, colorful and warmly welcoming. Again, thanks for this, and every video you make.
What a wonderful video Miranda - thank you for this extra one. Loved your visit to Saltaire, and in particular seeing the David Hockney artwork. From your selection of books, I would love to read Jobs for the Girls and it's now on my wish list. I began my working life as a shorthand typist in the late 1960s and worked in many different types of office as well as in a bank. Loved getting my speeds up on the typewriter and getting certificates for this - which sounds really funny in this day and age!!
It sounds like Jobs for the Girls would bring back a lot of memories for you, Sue! I think it sounds a fascinating read - can't wait to get down to it! xxx
Another lovely video, an extra treat for this week! I love Salts Mill, though I've not been for a few years. I must go back! I, too, am keen to read North Woods but my 'to read' pile is very tall, so I'm determined to read a few more from the pile before adding any more! I took advantage of your previous Serious Readers offer. The floor lights really are extremely good. My sister in law (also an avid reader) has one too. I can't recommend them enough
Thanks so much, Michele! I genuinely love my Serious Readers lights too so am so pleased to read you and your sister in law feel the same! They really are wonderful for avid readers! 🧡📚🛋️
I loved the shots in the bookshop. Those 3D treehouses and other displays were so cute! What was the name of the bookshop, please? It might have been listed but I couldn't find it myself. Thank you! Lovely as always! ❤
I went to Salt Air too several years ago. There was a wonderful lady who did a play followed by a tour of the village, (I can’t remember her name but she had a great sense of humour) I found the history really interesting. I also loved the book shop and the journals were divine. There was a David Hockney art gallery on then too, I love the wonderful colourful art works he did on his iPad of English woods, loved the ones in pinks and purples and his use of light and shadow, I also love his colourful English countryside paintings with the rolling multi coloured hills and little houses. I bought postcards of my favourites .
What a lovely extra video! Salts Mill is fabulous and Saltaire an interesting town too. So many great titles from you, I have added a few more to my wish list 📚 I've reserved the North Woods from the library so will be interested to hear about it from you. I have almost finished reading The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave which is brilliant! 👍
What! A Miranda video on a Tuesday and on a day, that I am not feeling so well and home for the day. Yippee. Thank you, Miranda for a lovely video. Wishing you lots of love, happiness and joy.
YAHOOOO Get the POPCORN a popping and heat the butter baby , for we are all in for a treat .I love when Miranda does these extra videos here and there..SHES THE BEST

Glad you enjoyed it! We did have such a fun afternoon. Thank you for your lovely comment 😊
Tak!
Thank you so much for your kind support, Joan! I really appreciate it❤️📚🌸

Thank you This was a lovely watch sitting with a new autumn mug and a pumpkin candle on a dull afternoon I just don't know how you manage to read so many books I love autumn Hope you both have a wonderful week
Thanks so much! You too! 🧡
I love the excursions that you and your mom take! Any time we want to attend an art exhibit here (San Francisco area), it is such a big deal. Parking alone will make you think twice (availability and cost)! Although, it is usually worth it - art is such a treat!!
Loved to get so many reading updates in this vlog! I really want to read All Creatures Great and Small after watching the new tv series.
Hello Miranda tfs your latest books appreciate when you list them all for us . . I love when you and your mom go out and show us the town / stores

Perfect- thank you, it’s a big birthday for me tomorrow so I’m taking this lovely video as an early birthday gift 💝
How fabulous! Wishing you very many Happy Returns of the Day!! Enjoy celebrating 🎂 🥂 ❤️
@@MirandaMills thank you ☺️
I loved this extra bonus video!
Thank you, Sue! So glad you enjoyed it ❤️
What a wonderful surprise! Thank you for the extra and for taking us along with you to Salts Mill. I'd never have known of it otherwise! (Beautiful art!)
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Meredith
Thank you Meredith! I'll have to look up that podcast xxx
A vlog from Miranda. What a treat! I love the sound of 'A House for all Seasons' and really enjoyed the trip to Saltaire. It looks delightful. Thank you Miranda (and your Mum). ❤😊
I’m so happy you enjoyed it ❤️
Wow! What a treat! An extra video from you! Thank you and I enjoyed every bit of it. Greetings from The Netherlands ❤❤❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much! Enjoy the rest of the week ❤️
I love your hair without the hair bands. So soft & romantic.
Thank you Miranda, beautiful content.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Impossible Creatures is such a gripping read; I’m always so impressed by Katherine Rundell’s work! 😊📚
The bookshop is within Salts Mill; I don’t believe it has a separate name. You can find info about it on the Salts Mill website I linked xx
@@MirandaMills thank you!
It's a special place, isn't it? So glad you had such a fun time visiting as well!

Lovely day out. Loved the Poole pottery.what a nice early birthday present!
I’m just delighted with it! Thank you ❤️
What a lovely extra video! Salts Mill is fabulous and Saltaire an interesting town too. So many great titles from you, I have added a few more to my wish list 📚
I've reserved the North Woods from the library so will be interested to hear about it from you.
I'm glad it was a pleasant surprise! Hope you feel much better soon! Take care ❤️
