@@beakhanMakes sense - the PLM is a copy of the JDL. if you swapped the headers on both cars, you'll find that the acoustic properties of the manifold (rather than .4 litre of bore) is responsible for 95% of the tone difference. Tomei will always be raspy, JDL style deeper and fuller.
So... the brand of overpipe and header are what is producing the difference in sound quality. This is why the 2013 has more rasp. What headers and overpipe are each running? There is very minimal difference to the 2.4 and 2.0, but this video doesn't distinguish that difference at all since those parts are different but instead highlights the difference in the headers and overpipe.
The gen 1 sounds more raspy mostly because I am assuming the catback has been on the car longer than the 2022 and the packing in the mufflers has degraded and/or some of it has been blown out the back. The only difference between the FA20 and FA24 is the piston bore size.

The gen 2 sound better for sure! Gen 1 sounds great, but the Gen 2 is just a bit better! 🔥

Which headers on which car? Massive difference in sound between JDL and Tomei from my experience with both

I wonder if their is a difference in exhaust port size on the fa24 vs fa20 because putting gen 1 headers on a gen 2 would be restrictive

I like the deeper throatier sound of the first gen overall. I think it’s great that so many parts are interchangeable between the 2.
