I love that you do these comparisons with other companies. It shows that you're not out there to bash other companies. Also, my favorite sound has to go to the MAPerformance exhaust to be honest. My 2nd best is the AWE race. I love what you guys do. Keep it up. I'm looking to one day be an owner of an 86 in the future and your exhaust will be my first mod.
Really love the fact that y’all reviewed all these exhausts. The MAP setup is awesome as it is, but the fact that your company is afraid to present other options is dope. Love them all honestly

I really like the deeper tone and sound of the MAP exhaust, but I also appreciate the more subdued volume of the HKS. I work second shift, so coming home at midnight with a louder exhaust would probably get me in trouble with my neighbors. If I didn't have to worry about volume, though, I would prefer the MAP exhaust.
We see your point, but I think the MAP exhaust would suit you nicely!
Got AWE track for my 86. It's pure amazing.
Maperformance sounds good. Hopefully the cold starts arent too harsh like the AWE.
MAP all the way, exactly what I’m looking for. Nice rumble but not desperate for attention by being too load or obnoxious. Will be looking to buy it when my GR86 comes in!

Tomei catback alone has alot of volume but, not obnoxious. It gets insane once you put on catless headers. But god damn does it sound perfect. Get alot of compliments at the track/autox.
Can't ever go wrong with tomei!

not sure if i missed it, but which one is the lightest? currently have the GR Performance on my 86 but looking to switch it out for a Dual Tomei or AWE Touring/Racing
Borla for the 1st gen not only fits but I think is one of the best sounding on the current gen. A second gen for Borla is coming as well.
Is there really no fitment issues with 1st gen? Are you running catback or axelback?
@@JolteeAwn Catback, a few have had some problems (1 or 2 people) but overall it fits just fine.
@@KiraOniiChan can confirm, put the Borla on my BRZ. The pipes are not even with each other but oh well, sounds great regardless.
Is the awe touring a lot louder than the maperformance exhaust or is it the same? In a scale of 1-10 how loud is the map and awe touring?

I couldn't put that quad-tip on my car and sleep at night. It looks terrible. The MAP and AWE seem to be the best ones. Did you guys do any dB measurements during the tests? I'm looking for a full system that won't piss off all the neighbors but also not get super raspy (especially once I throw on the header).
We don't have dB measurements, but we can confirm that our MAP system is much quieter than the AWE system even with mufflers.
Kudos on the 17" MacBook Pro!! Those are getting increasingly rare. What is the word on what style/layout exhaust has the most benefit for engine power?
pipe diameter/weight/dB levels would be great!

I have personally driven the car hundreds of miles on the highway and haven't experienced any drone at all!

Any variable exhausts for a 2023 GR86? I like the option to be quiet or loud asf, and I also really like the Remark quad exhaust
There might be one or two out there but nothing that we sell yet. Soon enough there will be a good handful of options

MAP exhaust sounds awesome, whats the weight? is it way lighter than stock?
We haven't weighted them, but in our experience removing/installing, out MAP catback saves a few pounds!
I used the Hks spec L2 on my 2022 BRZ and it’s great. Low revs it’s got a good bass note then just gets angry when you rev it hard. But zero drone.

FYI, the AWE track exhaust is listed at 23.5 Lbs, and the Type-D Tomei is listed at 24 Lbs by Subimods. If you want weight savings, it may not be worth paying the extra $900 for the Tomei.

I believe they were the first ones to release a catback for this new chassis. It pays to be first!
How does the overall volume of your system compare to the awe touring?
It's similar in volume, but a deeper tone!
If the HKS sound is true to the video, its the best one. No raspiness on the let-off and refined through the rev-range.
After installing exhaust like these, does the check engine light start flashing?

Unfortunately, we did not measure the decibels. I would imagine the muffled version would be well below your country's noise thresholds.

You can find it here: th-cam.com/video/Q5GETswMUs8/w-d-xo.html . However, in Quebec, any change to the original exhaust system is illegal. So, once there, the number of decibels won't really matter. The track one is very loud though if you choose to change it anyway.

Limited by ECU tuning at the moment! As soon as someone can figure that out we can move forward!

Tomei - Overly loud unpleasant, but didn't seem to drone which is good anyway. Don't like single out, trying to mimic other large can single out vehicles. Not for me. Rate= 3
Man! Subaru boxer engine doesn’t give a mean exhaust sound. There is no pop, mean crackle sound. Its tame. It needs 300 horses power to make it sound more mean.
