You did a great job on this lovely historic tool. I like it when a restoration is somewhat soft, and is not destroying the heart and soul of the object. Congrats for getting the spring into shape again and managing the fiddly work getting it into place. I pick up old spanners etc. occasionally on fleamarkets, but I leave them in their state giving them a good cleaning only. Maybe I should do a bit more work on them, I am reflecting this... Thanks for inspiration and best regards from Germany.
Hi eisbaerbel, thank you for your kind comment, if you do any future restorations it would be great if you put them up on your channel, we would love to see them👍😊Vielen Dank für Ihren freundlichen Kommentar. Machen Sie weiter so auf Ihrem Kanal👍😊
Do you have a time machine? You went back and got this brand new. Secrets out :P. Great video and this is a magnificent restoration. I'm bingeing videos :D 👍🐱
Hi Lord Venger, thank you so much for your kind comment, don't tell everyone about the time travel secret😬 I'm really glad your liking the back catalogue, rest assured there a many more rare and interesting projects in the pipeline😊👍
You’re welcome! I love these kinds of restoration videos, they inspire me to do the same. I really want to do some restoration videos, but I have a lot of work to do before I can do that. I’ll give you a tip on the evaporust it works best in warm to hot temperatures and if you leave it for 12 to 24 hours for the maximum best results.
@@ussdiscovery6912 thanks for your top tip regarding the Evaporust. I look forward to seeing your videos when you have the time to make them, just plug away slowly and I'm sure you'll get there in the end👍😊
A wonderfully sympathetic restoration, I really enjoyed every second of watching you work. I also like the tool itself, a very unusual and clever design. A great video all round, thank you for posting it.
Dear Restore and Make, hi. Simplicity and attention with the details. An excellence. Artistic. CONGRATULATIONS. Thanks. Gracias, M. From Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Rio
Hi Richard, thank you so much for your kind comment, the lower jaw has a pin which protrudes into the channel, this is where the spring attaches, it must have been inserted when the wrench is made. To remove it would have involved drilling it out and therefore spoiling the wrench, some days it's better to compromise and work around these things than risk ruining something so good👍😊
That was amazing work. I’ve seen others with wrenches like yours and the jaws just flop about. There’s the answer, they have a spring. I really enjoyed that and have liked and subscribed. Looking forward to your other projects. Greetings from Victoria, Australia mate.👍🇦🇺
I am not sure I understand your work method on this wrench. Rust cleaning, brushing, rust cleaning again, then buffing? Seems like the sequence is out of step, but the end result was nice.
Hi Paul, thanks for your comment. I like to start off the process of renovation slowly and in the least aggressive way possible, using the Evaporust first gave an opportunity to free some of the working parts ready for removal, buffing and cleaning gives an opportunity to see how much pitting and damage there is and gives an indication of how to approach it. Slowly, slowly makey shiny👍😊
Hi gayle525, thanks for your comment, I like to start the process nice and gently to minimise any damage which might be done, the process can always get more aggressive as you go on👍😊
Hi RockIsland Rides, thanks for your comment, you're right about the wrench, there were so many different spanners patented around the early part of the 20th century, but very few have stood the test of time👍😊
G'day Maurice, thanks for your comment and I'm glad you liked the video. I only like to use bronze wire brushes as I get concerned about scratching the surface of the tool then having to remove more material to remove the scratch. It's about making the least impact on the tool as possible😊this was my first time with Evaporust, it certainly isn't as fast as hydrochloric acid but it's not as agresive and in this instance it started the cleaning process well👍😊
Keep fingers out of ultrasonic baths rule no 1 as they wreck blood capillaries. I have an identical wrench but never use it as it slips too easily. Bahco had a better patent
Oi Marcello, obrigado pelo seu comentário gentil, fico feliz que tenha gostado do vídeo👍😊 thank you for your kind comment, I'm glad you liked the video👍😊

Beautiful job on an old tool. Just curious as to why you didn’t remove the lower jaw for easier cleaning. Would it not slide off over the handle?
Hi Richard, thank you so much for your kind comment, the lower jaw has a pin which protrudes into the channel, this is where the spring attaches, it must have been inserted when the wrench is made. To remove it would have involved drilling it out and therefore spoiling the wrench, some days it's better to compromise and work around these things than risk ruining something so good👍😊

Some good work there. Don’t use a wire wheel? I’m not a big fan of evaporust myself but the end product was great.
