I'm not in the forestry industry so I didn't know about the marking tool. It was a more complicated restoration than I thought it would be. You did an excellent job, and I was especially impressed with turning a new handle from a table leg. Very impressive. Thank you and smiles from USA.
I must admit I have never seen one of these before. I have heard of branding wood but that was done I thought with a hot iron. Awesome use of your multi talents, wood, metal work, and made from scratch replacement parts. Well done folks, and as always thanks for sharing this video with us and please keep them coming in. is it for marking the year the logs were collected? If so, I wonder if this was originally sold with the 2 and 0 parts, planning on the tool lasting this long.
Radek, I think you missed a trick there; the central section of those number discs is supposed to rotate, so with each hammer blow you get a number, 1 bigger than the last one when you squeeze the trigger. The detent slots on the second disc can be rotated when you press that button, to select the 10s.
Kedves Veronika és Radek! Köszönöm a videót!
I must have been watching thousands of restoration videos during my mid day break. And this one is probably the best I've ever seen. Don't know why, but it really helps to cool the tensions when you're at work. I'm always amazed by the skills required when you restore things, wish I had only the quarter of yours. Here, we have the combo skills + respect of the object restored. Thanks for the good work, and keep on goin' ! Wishful thinkings from France et thanks for what you're doing.
Unusual piece, and much more complicated than it appears! I feel that you went above and beyond on this restoration with the (now) expected excellent results. Thank you for sharing with us!
Because I know next to nothing about restoration, I can't say much about your work except it sure looks good to me. As a photographer, I can say with conviction that you do an exceptionally good job of showing us how you work.
Wonderful restoration - but I almost wish I hadn't watched it.....................now I want to go out and number all of my firewood, so that I use it in consecutive order.......................yeah, I'm a bit compulsive....Thanks for sharing another great video!
If you live in Logging country you know what this is. What's really cool is that stamp impression carries way, way into the log and can still be read due to the compression in the end grain, carries.
Two things I've never seen before (having watched a LOT of restoration vids): 1. Rust remover with tannin as a preventative; 2. Graphite paint. Both very interesting! And then there's the technique of "toning" wooden pieces with handfuls of shavings. Though I have commented on this before, I have to mention it again because it's yet another unique method in your skillset.
Zdravím Radku a Veroniko.

I noticed the same thing. The square notches on that wheel should have given it away. Still, Its a great job of restoring.
Hello Tony. Thank you for the information about the button on the spring? I could not determine its use. Radek
