I agree with the comment about the keypad. THANKFULLY it's totally wireless and can be removed without leaving any holes in the door. I removed mine and put it on the inside of the fuel door. Still have the functionality, but got rid of the eyesore.

I have the keypad, but on the Fusion and a lot of their SUVs, they integrated them into the door trim and made them invisible. Not sure why they can't or won't do the same on the trucks.

    • @Meatwadk6
      @Meatwadk6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@bourbon.36 They do it on the F-150. This truck is a carry over product from another region (Australia, Europe, Africa) and I assume they don't use the keypads there so the door trim was never designed for the keypads.

Nice review, the main reason the tail lamp housings are so large is due the BLIS and cross traffic alert module unit. It also will cover the trailers blind spot up to 30' long trailer.

Ordered my 2020 Race Red Ranger FX4 Lariat with the Ford Performance level 2 kit...great add on, power boost is significant and the Fox suspension is just what was needed. Overall the Ford Performance tune does benefit the transmission, seems to power through the gears with substantially more authority. Live in Canada, winter is nasty and cold where I am, have experienced some rough shifting at sub zero temperatures, quickly goes away after driving the truck a block or two. Good video, love the truck!

Love my 2021 Ford Ranger FX4. Purchased mine in October and 7 months in I gotta say the only personal complaint I have that is a constant annoyance is the placement of the window controls, they sit too far back on the arm rest and make it awkward when using them. I kinda see your point on the running boards. I am around 5'7" which is an awkward height for these running boards, i can get in without them but its a little of a stretch but if i use them it almost feels unnecessary. I use mine as a daily driver and I tell you driving and parking this thing is not at all intimidating as say a full size truck would be. I would definitely recommend a ranger to anyone looking for a midsize truck. By the way mine is Carbonized Grey w/Black Appearance Package. 😎👍

Interesting that you mentioned the PN96 F-150s. I had a 2001 F-150 with the 4.6L in it. I loved that truck. The Ranger and its little 4 Cylinder has more HP and almost as much torque as the 5.4L V8s from that era.
I'm not sure where you get that the suspension is firm on these trucks. I think you're the only person that's said that. The suspension is incredibly soft with a floaty feeling on the road. I've had my 2021 Ranger Lariat FX4 for a month now. I haven't had a chance to take it offroad yet but hopefully I will soon. But from reviews I've seen from actual owners say the same thing. I've already got the Ford Performance Fox 2.0 suspension coming to me in the mail. Everyone who gets it really seems to like it. So it might be worth considering.
One of the things I like over the 2019 Nissan Frontier I traded in is that the locking differential is available whether you're in 4low or 2WD. I'm not sure how many trucks can do that but the Frontier can't do that without modification of the electrical system. The Ranger really is a great truck and I love it. I also like the fact that it's not just a smaller version of the F-150. While I hope they don't change that I'm not really holding out hope. 😒

I don't mind the big taillights. Most drivers today are not paying attention, so I like the 'HEY YOU!" aspect.
Maybe you just got a bad transmission in this one truck-worth checking with Ford...
Does the Stereo system have a CD Player????
I drove a 2019. Agree with you about the seats.
With you on the Running Boards. When I get my new Ranger, I'll have them removed.
I ALSO do not like the instrument Layout- Copy the F-150, and it will look MUCH better!

I have wanted a ranger since they first came back but I was worried about the turbo reliability, that trans, and also I couldn't believe they didn't give it the true integrated brake controller and instead offer a "oem" 3rd party mickey mouse solution. Also they pushed too far back on their original release and missed the window for people using them as tax deductions. So I got nice '19 f250 instead and its great until you have to park the thing. :^) I'm still interested in the ranger but will probably wait for the next revision and if they build in the brake controller and add the 2.7L engine as an option I may add one to my stable. Otherwise it will probably try out a 2.0 maverick.

I was on the market for a compact truck about a year and a half ago. I owned a '99 Ranger until then, from about mid-2001, and I really liked it. As such, I was bummed when Ford dropped the truck in 2013 or so, but hopeful when they re-introduced it two or three years ago. I saw a new extended cab version at an auto show in early 201(8)?(9)?, and after climbing around inside, I though that it felt smaller than my earlier '99 model. Then I looked at the window price sticker; there is no way that I will pay the same price or more for a four-cylinder truck, not when all of its competitors have V-6's. I don't care what the horsepower/torque ratings are on that four-banger w/quasi-turbo, it's not the same thing. Ford needs to go back to basics with this vehicle, back when they started selling it in the early 80's, when a four cylinder model was affordable, and if someone wanted to upgrade to four doors/extended bed/V-6, they could opt in for better equipped (pricier models).

I have one and agree 100% with some of your zonks! Those running boards were cool to get, but after having them I hate them. I drag my legs on them too. The gauge cluster is just thrown together and looks weird, on the lariat trim it should be full computer screen. Radio is awesome, but my sync has been a little buggy, nothing serious, but sometimes slow starts. Could be bc I’m in colder regions. Heated seats are amazing, but I have experienced the clunkiness in the tranny when it was a cold start or just shifting from reverse to forward. The engine is great and I don’t mind the taillights but I get your point. Overall I like the truck, but it might be one I trade back in, in 3 years just bc of the transmission weirdness. But will see. Good review

Cons Pricing, 10 year old dated design and look, No NA v6 option, No bed liner included in the over pricing. No apple play, fuel millage is not as advertised by a long shot. When you go to towing anything the MPG on these is a little bit better than a dump truck. Towing gets about 10 mpg, With that smaller tank, you will notice having to pull off to fill up more than you normally would. Interior is 97% all hard plastic. nearly 40 k or more for a decent one for what i need and no LED lights, unless you go more towards the 48k plus or higher Lariat. if you lifting to put anything in the back, be prepared to lift about 2 ft higher than you normally would with the way these are elevated in the rear like that. If I could get a 4x4 crew cab with the 302a package I would consider it for 35k or less. Dont like the fact that Ford pumps in motor noise to give you the illusion of a real truck motor, not the little 4 cylinder it really is. And I do not like that its a gas powered motor that sounds like a diesel knocking. That is not good to me. The stirring wheel and gauges are from the Ford Focus. Ford brought this to America, put some lip stick on it and got ready to make the most profit on the oldest design truck in the world now. Needs spilt rear seats not the cheap one piece for the prices they charging. The look and interior of the ranger is very dated.
Pros At least they brought back a mid size truck, lucky its not front wheel drive. If the pricing was better it would be ok, but they charging big prices for less truck imo.
