Miss Universe Vietnam 2018 (Hen Nie) doesn’t speak English very well but had managed to walk toe to toe with Venezuela and PH during the top 5. Hopefully she can learn the technicalities because MUO is looking for a queen who can take the stage by her walk and can take the heart of people by her speech

I agree! Rabiya is a good speaker too, she have a unique walk and very charismatic but suddenly there are some women stands out in top 21 than her. I got ur point. You need to be more than enough to enter the frame of previous winners.

For me it is better to have someone like you have this high standards of giving facts and opinions about pgeant competition, so that this organizations will do better and be on the level of a miss Universe as it should be. This review is a no holds barred commentary about the qualifications that a delegate to the Miss Universe pageant needs to possess. Eloquense and the ability to fluently speak a certain lanuage( English in this case) will aid in communications, but it is not the only skill needed. It calls for excellence in many other things so that the candidate becomes complete/compleat, an ideal well-rounded candidate worthy of the crown. The truth hurts but comments like theae should he taken constructively.
Team Thailand! Take this as constructive criticism. Don't waste Anne! She can be a complete package. Train her more✨

You always speak with eloquence, you critique every single contestant with basis and reasons which turn out to be very favorable to them. You are onpoint and your words do not really destructive but a REMINDER to work harder. I just love a great persona!!!
In conclusion, the Miss Universe always looks at the contestants who has it all, the walk, the personality, the charisma, the brain, the advocacy, the confidence on how she carry herself and being comfortable. For my own perspective, the thing that Ann should work on very much is her walk, especially developing the gracefulness on how she carry herself because the walk is a strong factor. However, she's a great women with a great advocacy.

Oh totally!! If it would’ve been just speaking ability Andrea Meza wouldn’t have won! Not that she’s a bad speaker, but she gave us more than that! She gave us show, amazing styling, confidence and just entertained us by looking at her! Speaking great is not enough even for us fans!
Her answer is not totally bad, she answered her questions but doesn't have the wow factor like catriona and zozi. Thats why people were very sceptical about her winning but she did answered all of her questions right.

I'd also like to add, that while Ann is an eloquent and passionate speaker, she forgets her facial expressions when she speaks. She looks angry instead of positively passionate in the Q&A. How you look in delivering your answer is as important as your answer, IMO. It's how you sell yourself, your idea, your advocacy. Aside from that, I believe Ann is an athlete? I expected her to have a solid core strength. As it is, she looks like she has unsteady gait.
I don't know but the Thai org chose the rightful winner for me. She delivered the best answer with confidence and that's what sealed her the win. If we argue, People were so adamant and furious on Andrea Meza's win because Peru clearly gave the best answer. There's still polarizing standards on these orgs.

Lol Miss Universe is happening on December. So she has little preparation.
With her current situation it would take a lot of time to have her technical and presentation skills on miss universe level. A month is not enough time for her to acquire a miss universe caliber walk, unless a miracle happens

Relative to past winners of MUThailand, I think Anchilee really has the greatest speaking ability. She's very passionate and speaks really well.
But yes, Anchilee's walk was a disaster. And if she will be trained in a month to be graceful, it MIGHT not look naturally. So I am hoping she'd be able to acquire that skill faster than expected so it would not look very rehearsed once on stage. Otherwise, she might not be able to make it on the swimsuit or evening gown cut of MU2021, which eventually will spoil her speaking ability.
Anyway, let's hope she will make it in the swimwear and evening gown cuts.

I agree, if they just kept Ann as first runner up and gave the crown to tharina Thailand would have a better chances of winning. If ann is first runner up and joined the next edition of MUT she would have more time to polish her walk and become more viable for the Miss Universe crown. I just hope that MUT trains her well and make her walk discent at the very least because of she competes to miss universe with a walk like that it would be a big disaster for her as she might get a lot of hate and criticism

The decision is up to the judges. Don't worry about Annchile. She will clearly develop. And Miss Universe must have good speaking skills as important. Walking and beauty are not the main points for me. But it is necessary in the arena where you will Show it, but I think walking can be improved in a short time. But speaking skills and intelligence unable to train It will be derived from experience and learning throughout your life. She's beautiful, and her speaking skills are smart and straightforward. I like her advocacy sooo much and she has a strong comm skills, however other candidates work so hard to perfect their pasarela and I hope that she and her team wont forget to do that as well, because I believe that it's still and will always be a vital part of MU esp with what happened last MU 2020. ❤

I’m Thai and I’m totally agree with you! Ann needs to improve her walk but even she improve her walk she might not win. Cause MU is not about performance anymore. Last year Amanda had done the best performance but could not made it to top 5…why? Andria Mesa did not deliver the best answer but she win…why? MU is unpredictable now. It’s all about business!

I agreed with you. But for me sometimes the personality and how they carry themselves in public and on stage also very important instead of just acting like perfect robotic queen. For example Zozi also not really good at catwalk. But she’s very confident and the judges can see that. And when she entered top 5 BOOM ! I don’t think so people will judge or care that much after that if Thailand win. She’s beautiful tall relatable and good speakers. Even when Zozi won also many criticised her for queen with short hair and not beautiful as the previous winners. For me it’s up to the judges on that particular year’s or the organisation what they looking for. Peace and sorry for my bad English 😁💙

I doubt that with only a few weeks left she can change her walk. Walking requires a lot of time for muscles to really learn the natural movement of the hips and feet

MUT is sending a girl who is a threat to the crown while Colombia, Philippines and PR are sending girls who are ready to wear the crown. Huge difference?!

There's no wrong to be honest and truthful. It helps us realize the fact and reform. Thailand maybe is experimenting because they already have sent the most beautiful, graceful and eloquaint ones but still they failed to win.

A very precise and on point review, there you have it someone who knows exactly what she's talking about, this review is not even something to be mad about, this is very helpful and informative subjective criticism, there's no question she can speak and beautiful, but as of "NOW" a lot of powerhouse countries is way more up there, I watched Mut as well and right at the moment where the contestant who wear a very flowy white gown and the favorite to win Ms. Tharina boltes if I'm not mistaken missed up during q and a, I said oh well the tallest lady will win the title and indeed she won. When it comes to presentation and technicality , it was tharina and the girl in white gown who truly performed amazing. Anyways they start training her, with one of the previous years Mut top 5 who is actually very good as well in technicality and presentation.

Having an excellent english speaking abilities from a candidate really means for thailand. Because, we all know that they cannot speak english fluently, that is why having a candidate who has this skills really means for them. I know that language is not a barrier for a candidate to be considered as a queen, but also you have to look for the other elements most specially the stage presentation. Remember, there are other Miss Universe queens who doesn't have this english speaking skills but they we're able to win the MU Crown. Hoping for Ann to work it out before the competition begins.

To be honest, if Miss Universe actually becomes just a speaking competition, her winning is also not assured. Many other women joining are also top notch communicators. More than that, Ann's edge in communication is being sharp and thorough, while the others has the impact and passion.

When she advanced to Top 5 and the determining factor became the Q&A, I knew she had the chance to win. And because Nanthiya struggled to answer, and Tharina lost her nerve, Ann emerged to be the winner.

MUT have sent well rounded candidates for many year, but seem to be useless. So this might be the difference strategy, expanding fan base. In the past, well rounded MUT with high technique of walk influenced and touch only beauty pageant fan, differing from ANN inspiring wider. They have Miss Caliber Candidate but they just put it on the runner up reason that they're stuck at top5 and top 10 they're wasting candidates.
Tharina is a great speaking too. She is Great at walk but I know that tharina can boost her confidence when she is on miss universe . But sadly they wasted tharina again . I have to disagree with you. In recent years MUT have not sent a well rounded contestant to MU, they were either great performers with average speaking skills or great speakers with average walking skills. Chalita, Maria, Fhasai, Amanda are the former and Sophida and Aniporn are the latter. That's why they haven't been able to win the crown.

Yeah you have a point right there. But don't forget to be able to take the crown you have to pass all the rounds. Let's say top 20 will be easy for some girls, but there rounds like the swimsuit and evening gown competition. If you suck at those portions, accept the fact that no matter how charismatic a girl is she'll definitely not gonna get it. That's what Davonna is trying to say. Say for example the top 5 this year aren't really the strongest of the speakers but if you see their performance throughout prelims and finals, you know they deserve their placement. Because they performed. After all beauty pageant is still a show. For a show to happen the girls must perform.

She was not the best of everything but she has it all. She can communicate, she can presebt, she is beautiful. Miss Thailand can talk, she is beautiful but her walk will pull her down. Look at the past winners, even in the IMG era. They are not the best of every portion, but overall they ace all of it. Integral beauty that you say is sometimes just a construct. Presentation will always be important. By presentation that includes the walk. Period.
And even more so, let's say if Miss Thailand has that integral beauty that you say. Do you seriously think she's a sure win? The organisation is not crazy enough to crown less deserve girl than the other. There are so many girls vying for the title. Equally beautiful, equally smart that walks well. 🤷♂️
