Good job there !! I do tons of these every week on county school buses. Also EGR coolers are prone to failure and the HPOP( High pressure oil pump). Normally i will replace the entire oil puck not just the o-rings. I have seen them loose and will cause all kinds of issues.
Morgan .Kimathi Hey there Morgan. Appreciate the comment. These units keep us busy year round. We got most of our 466’s pretty much done. Now we r working on maxforce 9/10’s. Not much difference. Again. Thanks for comment. Thanks for watching.
I have a question regarding the inlet(nipple) oil rail in a 2012 international 4300 dt. Q. A bit of oil does come out to lube the valves right? Right above the injectors o ring - but not from the injector o ring it self but from the inlet. Thank you
AGAIN, Just what I want to see on mine! Getting ready to work on this bad boy for my 1st time. God Bless you and your knowledge Joe my man! I will be more than happy to donate if you share a paypal link. You have made my anxiety go down a ton just from watching your videos. Again thank you for your sharing of knowledge! Cheers bossman!
no need for donations. I am just glad that someone found use of the videos that I posted. again. looking forward to watching you get that issue resolved on your 466. brother. you made my day. thank you
Oil is always going to trickle out from the top of the injectors. It shouldn’t gush out. That’s how the rockers get oil to keep them from wearing out prematurely.
Very helpful video I have a question I have a 2005 international and it'll start good in the morning's but after a while of running can't turn it back on unless I use starting fluid any tips on what it might be.
Have you checked your fuel pressure when the truck doesn’t want to start. Supply pumps weaken when they are worn and hot. Would need more info to try and help you diagnose your no start issue. My email is joegonz268@gmail.com
He is trying to check O-rings to see if they are bad and oil is coming out of them. Truck went into limp mode this last fall but never stalled. We drove 100 miles home on shoulder of highway. Took to diesel mechanic. They said it was throttle pedal so they replaced with new one and still went into limp mode. Spent 800.00 and still not fixed. We always had to plug it in to warm it even in the summer. It's a 2000 international 466e 4900. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
They would have to be leaking quit a bit. And mostly all of them at the same time. Try cutting your oil filter to see if there are any deposits in it. That and your oil pressure sending unit.
@@dthetruckguy1499 I have a 2002. It's drinking about a gallon of oil an hour. Only a seep from the rail on driver's side of the block. Starts and runs very well. No excessive smoke. Could you please point me in the right direction??? Kevin
Hey there Marco. Pucks rarely go bad. But they sometimes do need replacing. What is the issue with ur engine thats making you think u might have bad pucks on oil rail.
@@JoesBusBarn well. Hard start pressure builds pretty quick. Just a hard start after 10 min sitting... about 8 to 10 second crank. I've replaced the o rings already.. issue persisted. But instead of a sloppy start it cranks up as should minus the delay.8-10 sec.
Also, pulled valve cover and tried to determine if there is a significant leak. Looks like 456 have more oil coming out. Pulled oil rail and the o rings look okay?
I know this may sound crazy since the recommendation is to use OEM Orings, but just wondering if you have ever used any other generic O rings that support Hot Oil and High pressure that are not specifically designed for this rail?. If so, what was your experience with it?. I'm wondering, since here in my country (El Salvador), the only International distributor sells the high pressure oil rail o ring kit at a astonishing price of $130 USD, that's crazy. I'm able to find it at around 40 bucks, shipping included, in eBay, the International ones. If I wanted to be stolen, I'd rather go to some dangerous city, rather than buying the Orings kit from the dealer.
@@JoesBusBarn Great thanks, and thanks a lot for taking the time to make these videos, I've learned from them, and I pretty much do things on my own rather than having a mechanic lying and changing parts when not needed.
Hey Mauricio. I know exactly what you mean. I’ve heard a few people claim that they’ve been taken for a ride on repairs. I’ve seen a few highly overpriced services.

Second puck shown in the video is loose.
Hey brother any tricks to getting the oil rail to sit and seal perfectly I can not get it to seal !

Hey Hector. Yes. Oil does drip out onto the moving parts (rockers). Is a constant drip.

Be cool back to see how you're installing the seals
Hey Joe how the heck do I get it to seal all the injectors I changed them all and the pucks

@ you know I put it back together thinking it had to have no oil doing that and runs awesome so makes way more sense you the man thank you

We have 2007 international 4400 dt 466 that has oil in idm electrical plug which I suspect caused the idm to go bad. Where's the oil coming from?
If it leaks does the engine stop running ?

Will the bad o rings on the high pressure oil rail give you low oil pressure on the gauge in your dash ?

Does a 2002 dt466 have the same setup because my engine looks a little different and I’m having hard to start issues in the morning
The 2002 dt466 has the high pressure oil rail on the side of the head rather than above the injectors like the one he is working on.

Whats the torque specs on injectors and oil rail?
20lbs on the 12 oil rail bolts after hand tightening all 12 there is a tightening sequence in the service manual.
Hi joe i replaced the ipr valve icp sensor the o ring and it still is leaking oil on 5 & 6 could it be injectors or pucks ?
Is it leaking oil from oil rail. If so. It is one of 2. Bad pick o-ring or bad puck. They r suppose to drop oil onto rockers. But not pour on them

What are the chances of the tubes being bad? Already replaced orings

Try to move the pucks around by hand. There should be quit a bit or resistance. You shouldn’t be able to wiggle them around.
