I saw it on another channel, if you build enough low rent housings, it will resolve the high rent complaint issue as the residents complaint will eventually move to the low rent housing when they “run out" of money or when you demolish their home. this is how the game works
Manually controlling the lot sizes is helpful too.
Sometimes it's also because the amount of services in the area doesn't match how much their land value is. Or having too much services in low value areas
My low rent buildings always end up abandoned. -12 for small living spaces or whatever. Doesn't seem to matter how many positive modifiers there are
@@Dan-uh9sg I used to have this problem too. On my latest city I actually have a bunch of low rent buildings with zero issues... and I have no clue why! The only thing I really did differently was that I made the buildings smaller (which seems odd given that their main complaint is how small their homes are).
I‘m relatively new to city skylines so this helps a lot thanks for the tip!
A tip that I picked up from Few Candy is instead of just filling all of the empty zones with the paint bucket, draw them by hand so you can create a variation in the building sizes and types. Provides far more character to your city.
Nice progress today. Another zoning tip: if you zone mixed res. next to some empty tiles, they'll often extend their ground texture to the road, slightly. It's great to fill in the little spaces. Looking forward to your next update.
In your city Bixton, I mostly like the perfection or realistic the layout is from the POV of a resident in the city skyines, you are amazing timeister love your videos.
You should replace some of the row housing with roads.
part of the pedestrian path to fix sidewalk trick - try running the paths right down the middle of the block, help really split the zoning to the two opposite roads. Can keep it for an alley 'like' look, or delete.
I love how Chicago-like this city is!
This is a great Let's Build and I really appreciate learning alot more about CS2! Thanks and looking forward to MUCH more of this series. Keep up the great work Tim!
14:19 that spot that you can’t build is because of the 2x2 building occupying the zone that’s why the blocks are greyed out, need to remove the 2x2 building on the opposite side
People in the city must feel very confused at the mayor who keeps demolishing every new building that sprouts in the city
AYE IM RIGHT ON TIME!
TOTALLY with you on having buildings conform to block shapes. I have no idea how it could work (or even if it's practical) but I'd love it
It would be nice to make Bedford like a luxury gated community, where all the rich and famous live. That musician mansion would fit there perfectly.
You are doing super good, and Bixton is looking great!
A train station on the flat area near Bedford where the tracks are diagonal and straight, with a grid centered around it would look really cool as a city. Very American style of development with the central station in the middle.
long format is okay, 35-45min videos are perfect. just discovered your channel, you are very underrated.
It will beautify your city to turn those waterfront roads into pedestrian paths with parks, mixed use and commercial facing the water
Also timeister if rent is high try placing some low rent housing and also whenever you build a high school college or university place some low rent housing around it
I'll make sure to do that, thanks!
There are underground parking and parking garages in the game made for downtown 😂
Drinking game: take a shot every time he says chonker
its uncanny how realistic the city looks. some ppl are so talented at this game and i just figured out how to use education😭😭😭
I think on the next episode you should build an airport very very very far from the city so that in case you need to expand it you could expand it real bad and big
It’s like watching an American urban planning class.
When doing the zoning in downtown I suggest turning off road guideline snapping, and most snapping so its only by angle and length, you'll get much more clean zoning that way.
Your videos are great. It help me to relax.
I love how the city is MASSIVE but the population is so little.
Love the videos
For your expansion near the mountain you could use low density but make small scattered and make like mountain homes like Tennessee has it in the mountains
another tip for building diversity: if you mix european and american styke skyscrapers, you will get more different models. Works for Residental and Business skyscrapers
Make sure you keep up with upgrading your services, also I think it's about time for a hospital/police headquarters/fire headquarters
Nice video, great series!!! Just wondering about downtown, if It's redeveloped would row houses be a thing?
Similar buildings? Nah bro makin the one world trade center
Nice
33:51 spoken like a true dictator XDDDD
I would suggest some low rent housing near each public transport stations, especially train and metro stations.
I gave you the 1k like... I really do find inspiration watching you! Lvl.95
For me it used to look more like Omaha but yea now it is Chicago
I think you should rename some roads and highways and name the district near the Golden Gate Bridge Bixton hills and try to make a park for the view of the bridge. Since in real life near the Golden Gate Bridge you can see the Golden Gate Bridge from a park or viewing deck.
the high rent issue is solved by high density! its cheaper to live in an apartment then in a house
Howdie Timeister, from Allenstown, NH. Northeast, USA
What are you doing your downtown looked perfect
You have a big triangle currently unused between bedford and uptown, maybe you could turn that into a giant park. I mean every big city has a huge park somewhere right? Also it fits nicely there between the outskirts of city center and the posh neighborhood Bedford.
Bruh I commented this right before you said it yourself lol…
how about making a little line district that goes along the bridge and and naming it afer the bridge so there is a name over the bridge when you hove over it(we should also give the bridge a name if u consider doing this)
How do you encourage high rise residential?
Do sewage treatment next
I don see the interchange from the previous episode
please put parks at every small town at least hahaha
Bro, What map are you playing on?
I think you forgot to put parking lots
How do you all get demand to be so high? I barely see any demand by the time level 7 and the game just dies out. High density buildings doesn't really spawn much, if they do they get abandoned quickly in any of the maps I play. Another thing is Low Rentai housing gets complains a lot about Small homes and get abandoned no matter where I put them
Pls more europian style
Yeah I could dot a few euro buildings around town
@@Timeisterespecially mountainside, that’s like a perfect opportunity to put down euro housing.

Omaha be like
We are Barack
They should have had taller skyscrapers grow procedurally so they don't all look the same. Also, they are all boxy, and there are no historical, or peaked/spired buildings. Really poor design.
Obligitory engagement comment.
