Greetings from Venezuela. I have a 1976 W114 with an M110 engine. As you may have heard, the situation in our country is unfortunately quite precarious, but I have kept my Mercedes with a lot of effort and affection, because since I was a child my father instilled in me love for these cars and with good reason, they are the best in the world. . I am 40 years old and my desire is to see it fully restored, unfortunately it is quite deteriorated, but I have learned to repair it and despite my financial situation I have managed to keep it rolling. I hope one day before I die to be able to see it in its maximum splendor.
I wish you well with your project. I too am running an old Merc, (W126). I can't afford to keep it to the standard I would like. However, I care for it as best I can. And meanwhile I am enjoying using what some would rate as the best car in the world! Long may you continue to enjoy your lovely car.
Thank you! These Videos are so nice and rare! Please do it also for a inline six 250 found in /8 and W123 equally with points ignition
I remember my dad installing a Zenith electronic ignition in our 65 Ford Country Squire station wagon when I was a kid back in the late 70's or early 80's. He always left the points and condenser, along with a screwdriver, in the glove box in case it ever failed on him and left him on the side of the road (as points often did back then) but it never failed. I'm sure those points and condenser were still in the glove box when my mom sold it after he passed in 2015 and that Zenith electronic ignition was still installed and working.
Great job and great informations. 👍
whats the benefit to doing electronic ignition on these cars? do you get better power and fuel economy?
How mud is the kit? I have 1972 280 SEL 4.5. On my 6.3 I had a conversion kit from Star Motors I did’t like that much.
Thanks
So the ignition spark still goes through the finger? Why the box can not distribute the spark?
You would need 8 separate coils and an ECU to convert to fully solid state
Fantastico
Does it also fit on M117 5.0l KE Jetronic?
No this conversion does not work on the KE-Jetronic engines. Here are some of the parts and kits we do offer for it. mercedessource.com/store/search?keys=ke-jetronic
hello, do you have link for a good kit? got an 450 sac 1973
If your distributor has ignition points inside then this kit will work. mercedessource.com/store/1970-1973-350-450-v8-points-electronic-ignition-conversion
