I've loved this song since its release and every time I come across it I listen and watch in awe, it's a brilliant video and was groundbreaking at its release. I remember being 8 years old sitting on the rug in front of the tv and this came on the Saturday morning kids show in1985. I was blown away... never heard it again for 30 years or so and looked it up from that vague memory. Awesome tune.

This song always sticks with me due to the video accompanying it. For whatever reason, way back in the 80s, I was a kid in a local electronics store in the UK (probably Dixons or similar) where they were showcasing the "latest" Laser Disc players, and one of the setups had this playing on a loop. I remember being mesmerised by the (at the time) amazing crystal-clear picture quality and the seamless transitions between the faces, not to mention the song itself was very captivating. It's stuck with me for 40 years at this point. Something very haunting, yet fascinating about the melody and visuals. Brilliant.

One of the best scenes had this song in the background...such a timeless TV show. I think I coupled these songs together in my mind.... for some strange reason.! PHD was 1982 and this was 1985. On a bit of a nostalgia trip, I just realized that the last guy to say, "Cry!" is the front man from the Buggles and founding member of Art of Noise, Trevor Horn. A little googling tells me he was actually the producer for the song, along with lots of other great 80s bands!

Rewatching the video after decades (having it seen 'endlessly', as MTV just started in Europe), I remembered most of the faces - the girl at 1:54 being gorgeous!
