I knew Kevin Godley in the 1970s, I used to work for his dad. Shudehill, Manchester UK. I know his dad was proud of 'Rubber Bullets'. Clearly the lads had a great sense of humour.
Knew of him more back in the mid 90’s, as he lived over the back from us ( ok 2x fields away) in Tenterden, Kent.. He use to smoke around in a old 80’s Black 320 BMW under cover.. They lived in Herendon Hall, Tenterden… Had a massive recording studio, use to see many pop stars floating around the little market town, that were then using the studio.. All memories now from yesteryear !! 😀
I always play my records when getting ready to go out and this record always reminds of the time I was getting ready to go on a date 20th-December1981. My then girlfriend now bride have been married 39 years now.
Reminds me of someone special way back then too, although -sadly - our pathways went a different way to yours. I often wonder what she's doing now, although she was 12 years older than me! Congratulations. 👍🏻🥂
I was freaking out when I found this song WEDDING BELL & CRY by GODLEY & CREAM. I just love GODLEYS voice. I have played both songs on repeat since I found them. Thanks to TH-cam they had both on there playlist.
This was part of the Live Aid videocassette, where all the artists involved in Band Aid chose one of their videoclips to be put in. Watched it over and over, like 100 times between '85 and '90. And then never again. This is my first time in 30 odd years, TH-cam is great for this kind of stuff
I like Kevin Godley's intelligent lyrics but I also get the impression that he's quite humorous and doesn't really take himself too seriously (never a bad sign).
But it rings so true for me. A long established relationship with an older woman had soured and she took me for granted. She spoke to me as if I was little more than dirt and still expected me to marry her. I kept saying to her that she didn't own me, but she didn't listen. This song described her intentions to the letter.
Well straight's the wrong word (although in this case they are) because a lot of gay men are masculine as well but I know what you mean. Funny good video and suits the song spot on.
@@NickSBailey Why was straight the wrong word? It seemed to describe the video perfectly , Your right about masculinity being a characteristic not jut found in hetrosexual men . There are various actors who have been the epitome of manliness but secretly (at a time not accepted) being gay.
These guys were such a real revelation and they were so far ahead for the 1980s as well. I just love Godlly & Creme. The very first time I heard them, it was in 1986 and I was only 18. I was sitting in a dark room with a close friend of mine who introduced me to smoking hash. It’s only a few months later that he had committed suicide at the age of 27. I Just fell in love with the song Under my Thumb. It was very psychedelic, for that time period, but it was surly more of a low key Soft Pop Rock music group from the New Wave trend. I always think of that friend of mine. May he Rest In Peace after 36 years. Thank you for this magnificent presentation. Johnny, Montréal, Canada 🇨🇦.
Godley and Creme's songs seriously remind me of good times in the 1980's. Especially the summer holidays. My dad bought the cassette tape "Changing Faces" and used to play it regularly on the car stereo during our vacations.
GodleyCreme capture the 1960's vibe with current trend of the time. Excellent vieos as usual but they had creative control on that too. Lasts the test of time as does their distinctive talent.
Maio 2024, 33 anos e aqui estou, assistindo o clipe, fazendo as dancinhas e mostrando pra minha filha de 8 anos 😂😂❤ eu com 10 anos passava as tardes assistindo no DVD BAND AID 1984
I have always loved G&C, but i remember when i first heard this song, the unalloyed joy that they had gone back to pure pop again, after the travails of the Freeze Frame album.
...as well as "L" and Consequences, etc... which is how I was introduced to them... I didn't even know they were part of 10cc!! ...and I actually have never heard this "crap" before now!... But I still listen to those early LP's!!!
Hi Kevin godley you are a handsome man. You have a nice singing voice. ♥️...I like the theme to this song. marriage is a beautiful thing, when you choose that person to spend the rest of your life with.its no bed of roses marriage. It's a risk. Sometimes we just take what we're given.xxx

When 10cc were together they were an amazing band
They should never have split up
They came back in 1991 for Meanwhile
They didn't split up. They made something like six more albums after Godley and Creme left.
@@UranusMcVitieFish-yd7oq and then godly cream came back for one album in a contractual obligation
👏👏👏👏👏totally agree
I love those silver suits!
my boyfriend says that if he ever gets married he wants the suit that Lol Creme is wearing in this video
Love the silver suits too changing keys make it unique great tune!
This one's a gem, as is Under Your Thumb. What a voice Kevin Godley has.
Such an underrated singer.

He sure does.
Definitely has a Smokey Robinson vibe. Love it!
That had to be the intent.
This is a brilliant pastiche, but it could have easily worked for the Temptations or their ilk….

Beautiful story... I have a similar story of meeting my wife in 89' (with our song "Head Over Heals.")
Imagine if 10cc had stayed together. My god that would have been one super group. Brilliant
My 2nd birthday 🎉🎉🎉
🎉🎉ha ha genius 🤣
G & C great tunes fun tunes great memories
Makes me wanna CRY ❤
a classic, this reminds me of attending weddings in our family through the 80s.
few will recognize the humour and pathos that is the brilliant G&C
I would love to go back to 1981 when I was 18, watching this makes me both happy and also very depressed
Me too
Nostalgia
I was three years old when this song was released in December '81
I was 11.
It was great!
I was 4.
Kevin’s voice is like melted chocolate, yum,
A great song from a couple of very creative guys who changed 10CC forever when they left.
I've introduced so many friends to G&C over the decades, and they are amazed at the music that simply isn't played anymore on main stream radio.
"We've run out of track before we got on the train," what a great line. Two of the greatest songwriters ever.
That is brilliant (but they always were) and I never heard that line properly before I read your comment! Thank you!
Thanks.. I didn't hear that either, and it actually took me a while to think about it. That really is class.
Love this song
Still remember buying the 7 inch single 👍🏻
Very fond memories, very much miss those years ❤️🙏🏻

just goes to show how really talented 10cc were, absolutley amazing the 4 of them.
I spent a couple of day's in 1981 filming a Quo video with them, very very funny.
Were you a cameraman?
Nope, I was the blonde in it.
Loved 10cc never the same once Godley and Crème left. Saw the original 10cc. Brilliant .

A piss take song, that's the brilliance of it, absolute genius! Loved this when it was first released, I had just turned 19
Sounds like the young rascals are owed a pile of royalties
ManufacturingDissent - This sounds like soul to me. Could as well be a Smokey Robinson (or The Miracles) song
