Best of times. Boy how I really miss those MTV and VH-1 days. It will never be as good as it was in those days compared to today. Not even close.

I love the 80s and sometimes choose to live there when I get away from here, but in the decades since, progress has been made in some ways. We as a society wouldn't have allowed the changes of time if we didn't want some things to change. For one, I'm glad to see all the coke and heroin reduced, but sad to see it often replaced with meth. Storytelling imo has taken a dive though. 80s did more with so much less for storytelling. Miami native... Had a chance to visit the set of Miami Vice when they filmed a short segment of an episode on South Beach back in '86. Those were the days. I remember before Miami Vice ever aired one eposode, how desolate and depressing all of Miami Beach was especially down in SoBe. Just old retired WWII vets for miles and miles and decrepit hotels from the 20s, 30s, and 40s, barely hanging on for dear life. Even the beloved Fountainbleu was in disrepair but Miami Vice changed all that and after the last season aired, Miami Beach and South Beach in particular was never the same again. After Versace was murdered, things changed again but this time it all started to go downhill and nowadays, I wouldn't be caught dead down in SoBe. Truly nothing but low lifes and thugs. Finally left the 305 back in 2005 and with the occassional visit every 5 years or so, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. I prefer to leave that beloved slice of my past safe in my memories, where pastel colors shine bright like the sun and beauty is all around in "MY" Miami, RIP 1977-1997.

@@joeshmoe9978 That would only make sense if they kept it in the 1980s. It's called progress. Just like in the 80s they weren't still calling women broads and dames. Miami Vice was actually based on the 1970s show Starsky and Hutch but geared towards an MTV audience. By making it more stylized, fast-paced, and including soundtracks of popular 1980s music. According to one of the directors, "The show is written for an MTV audience which is more interested in images, emotions and energy than plot and character." This video emphasizes that point.
It's really amazing how many people keep coming back to listen to the Miami Sound tracks over 4 decades later it will never get old its definitely legendary.
It certainly was rare to see Mann direct the tv show and then the movie, MIAMI VICE. The movie sucked. It just goes to show you that you can't go back home.
I forgot how acceptable smoking was back then. Now, it's rightly viewed as pretty gross. Oh well, Miami Vice was definitely groundbreaking. Bonus points for walking in deep sand in high heels.
My dad yelled at me for smoking when I was a teenager by saying, "Is it because your buddy Don Johnson smokes on Miami Vice?" No, it was because I worked in a restaurant.
The things that made this show so great ... 1...The location / scenery... 2....The fashion... 3...The music... It was incorporated in perfectly.... 4....The twist endings....Not you average everyday cop show where the good guys always win.... 5..... The guest star appearances .... 6...Always kept you on your toes
Don't forget all the killings. You know MIAMI VICE was going to rack up a high body count every week. Not to worry. There's still plenty of cop shows today that does that. 24. BLUE BLOODS. CHICAGO PD. CSI. CSI MIAMI. CSI NEW YORK. FBI. HANNIBAL. JAG. NCIS. NCIS HAWAII. NCIS LA NCIS NEW ORLEANS. THE ROOKIE. SEAL TEAM. SWAT.

I graduated High School in 1984, Drove a Fast Classic Car, Hit all the Best Night Clubs on Long Island and New York City every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday Nights and watched Every Episode of Miami Vice every Friday Night before going out! It pumped me up before hitting the clubs like no other show could. I have every episode on Blu-Ray and Digitally on VUDU and still watch them all the time! God how I miss those days! 🏝⛵🍸🌞
Pure definition of true life action, adventure, nature, betrayals, bonded friendships and love it’s so nostalgic to me that 80 era was so moving and magical.Time now is all but lost not meaningful I like to create magic and miracles it makes my life so much more beautiful peaceful and divine that’s how I touch God heart I’m still young but I will ask God and wish upon a beautiful shooting star that someday somehow one day I will go to Miami and walk along the beach and recreate the last scene of Definitely Miami … have Faith believe in miracles…
I know this will sound strange but...as a society. things have deteriorated because society has gradually moved away from the ways of God......which are the ways of wisdom....The people who are mostly God oriented, though they don't often make a big show of it, allowed the left....(who are;... so sorry.....for the most part completely Godless) to infiltrate Government, schools, media, corporations, Hollywood, and have lost a large part of todays young people through their indoctrination and moral degeneracy. America used to raise young men and women to be eventually mothers and fathers and patriots. Now the left has turned them (not all but soooo many)into sex obsessed porn watchers. and that is just part of the picture.
I’m 59 now and there is no doubt in my mind that I experienced something amazing back in the 80’s. Around 1989 a lot of things changed as if someone flipped a switch but many good things did continue. Back then women looked amazing and we weren’t divided on political ideals, we all managed to get along and make the best of it.
I'm a musician and music is my game from rap, edm, trap, alternative, easy listening, country, opera, classic, etc. I must say if I had to pick a decade of great music it will be the 80s. The sound, the melody, the coolness, the vibe, the lyrics, etc. the 80s always bring yearning, reminisce and nostalgia. Miami Vice was a trend changer during the 80s.

@@MrGovtCheese I had just watched an episode where Crockett asks Tubbs (a black man) if he came to Miami to work on his tan. Also in the same episode they ask if Crockett "rolled a fruit" (beat up a gay guy) to get his shirt. Cancel culture SJWs would be all over this nowadays.
A series withh emotions and depth. Miss it🥺
It's really amazing how many people keep coming back to listen to the Miami Sound tracks over 4 decades later it will never get old its definitely legendary.
For me the best TV show ever! Music, glamour, cars, boats, fashion, guest stars...pure gold!
To think I was 14 when Miami Vice hit the air is mind blowing... f**k I'm old...
Michael Mann , created this Masterpiece fantastic show, part of my childhood
Yes, the great Michael Mann, but don't forget Anthony Yerkovich (and Abel Ferrara who directed some episodes)...
It certainly was rare to see Mann direct the tv show and then the movie, MIAMI VICE. The movie sucked. It just goes to show you that you can't go back home.
Definitely part of Michael Mann's 'Genius' Period ( Band Of The Hand, etc. ) !
I just want to rewind one day. Real show
I need my 80's time machine!!
Miami Vice! I have eaten from the tree of "The Knowledge of Good and Evil" This is the top of the Heap!
No pun intended by Don Johnson's acting on Miami Vice is criminally underrated...
Nope. DJ became a huge superstar because of Miami Vice. No underrating here. 😎
Crockett was cool without trying 😄
Crockett was Just a caracter Don Johnson was and still is the coolest person a live on the planet.
So many top notch actors were featured in this series. Starting with Bruce Willis.
Such a brilliant ending scene and song to go along with it. One of the best ever Miami Vice episodes.
Don didn't say a word. The song said it all.
Better music, movies & better-looking people... 80's COME BACK !!!
Late 60s & 79s even better!
@@alisonrogerson6586 I like the early 2000's too, not as much as my 80's tho:)
My favorite show and he sure was a fine looking man
This is like a Time Capsule. Glad I was alive in that Era. Not a cell phone in sight people talking to each other.
The things that made this show so great ...
1...The location / scenery...
2....The fashion...
3...The music... It was incorporated in perfectly....
4....The twist endings....Not you average everyday cop show where the good guys always win....
5..... The guest star appearances ....
6...Always kept you on your toes
Die 80er das wahre Jahrzehnt des Glücks.. 🤍❗❗❗😎..
Man that show had everything..
Acting, writing, beautiful women, great music
Ferraris and speedboats. I loved it
Don't forget all the killings. You know MIAMI VICE was going to rack up a high body count every week. Not to worry. There's still plenty of cop shows today that does that.

Today's Television We Wouldn't See Shows Like This Anymore. If They Tried To Remake Miami Vice Now. It Wouldn't Be The Same As The 80s. What Happened In The 80s Stays In The 80's.
Miami Vice war der Grund, warum ich in Florida leben wollte. Habe bis 2015 auch dort gewohnt
Miami Vice was the reason I wanted to live in Florida. I lived there until 2015
Life was more real.. not plastic n fake, like it is today.. 😣😢💔🙄
You think the 80,s wasn't plastic and fake, coke heads and yupppys 🤣🤣🤣

Awesome track by Godley and Creme ♥️👍

Miami Vice was the best show ever
Sorry for you If you weren’t around in the 80’s- Yes, it makes me (kinda) old, but there will never be another. Best times in the rear view, baby.
Don’t forget the sixties , Fantastic
Such a beautiful woman and man when I was young, I thought they were so awesome together
Have to agree . Women had something different about them in the 80's . A lot more classy back then .
we knew how to dress and strut... clasdy and sassy..❤
They weren't all tatted up then and they had manners.
Definitely Miami - one of the best episodes ever!!!
Maybe the best one ever
What episode was it?
@@MrSnoopadoop”Definitely Miami”, also stared Ted Nugent as her boyfriend, and they move city to city conning young handsome men; in Miami, Crockett!! Ted steps out onto the hotel balcony and says, “Definitely Miami”!!
And Arielle Dombasle, she was hot stuff.
The best episode of all Mona
I was lucky to grow up in the 80s. What I wouldn’t give to go back.
This show captured the feel of that era like no other.
thanks for your love and support. .
Great show, nice boat, the Wellcraft Scarab 38KV.

Yes, it did, it really really did..!!
Yeah,it was just like this in Skegness at the time-the feel of the era indeed

I'm so glad I grew up in Miami in the 70s 80s It was a great time, I met Don at the Miami yacht and Brokerage show. And I'm proud to say I went to the BeeGees home on star Island for a party. If reincarnation is true I would love to live this life over again!
Noooooo... 😜
Me too.
Gives me butterflies as it brings back the memories of the 80s.
The Best and Most Exciting Time of my Life was the 80’s.
What a great show this was
When Miami vice came on tv in 1984 i was 12 , i was a kid. The 80's where great. What a great song and video. Greetings from Belgium.
first American city I ever visited, now I'm an American citizen living in Tampa. Loved the 80s
One of the best TV shows EVER!!!

I could watch Don Johnson walk down the beach on an endless loop.
Pure definition of true life action, adventure, nature, betrayals, bonded friendships and love it’s so nostalgic to me that 80 era was so moving and magical.Time now is all but lost not meaningful I like to create magic and miracles it makes my life so much more beautiful peaceful and divine that’s how I touch God heart I’m still young but I will ask God and wish upon a beautiful shooting star that someday somehow one day I will go to Miami and walk along the beach and recreate the last scene of Definitely Miami … have Faith believe in miracles…
lets face it... this show was a moving art form...
The 80s ! Best era ever
This episode/video proves that character, not looks is everything.
The 80’s. God please bring them back. Oh how I miss them.
Please get a life!
When Crockett put his sunglasses on, that was his way of saying "you're dead to me!"
Facts 🕶️
Miami Vice was an awesome show. I miss the 80's so much. I wish I could back.
Shows have tried, but have never come close to Miami Vice. You can't beat an original!
I used to wear the same style of clothing like we all did back then. Damn during the summer the most comfortable stuff ever!
Born and raised on Biscayne Bay and watched some of the filming of Crockett and Tubbs going across the Bay !!!
Growing up in the 80s was a true pleasure, very thankful
I’m 59 now and there is no doubt in my mind that I experienced something amazing back in the 80’s. Around 1989 a lot of things changed as if someone flipped a switch but many good things did continue. Back then women looked amazing and we weren’t divided on political ideals, we all managed to get along and make the best of it.
80's were the bomb. I used to dress like Sonny in 6th grade. The girls loved it!
6th Grade girls? Please. 🙄
@@sevans840 Not sure what your point is. I was the same age so it's not like I was being creepy.
@@murch7299 My point is what do children know about fashion or "Miami Vice" or being Don Johnson cool? That' s what I'm lol about.

Ridiculously perfect cinematography on this show. 💙💚
Creator and director Michael Mann became a renown movie director. That show put Miami on the map.
Miami Vice was... IS the apex of coolness! You can't improve perfection!
And nobody was cooler than Sunny Crocket…
I'm a musician and music is my game from rap, edm, trap, alternative, easy listening, country, opera, classic, etc. I must say if I had to pick a decade of great music it will be the 80s. The sound, the melody, the coolness, the vibe, the lyrics, etc. the 80s always bring yearning, reminisce and nostalgia. Miami Vice was a trend changer during the 80s.
You're so right dude

Nope. The 90s had better music.

Depends on what decade you grew up in and like more, but it’s 80’s for me.
This was classic. Sonny knew she was playing him but you could tell he still cared for her in a way.

Wow, he was soooo good looking!!
Miami Vice helped shape the city of Miami in terms of fashion and culture - the fashion in pastels, a synthwave soundtrack, hit songs and exotic cars. As far as I know, no show has really put it together as good as Vice since. I think I'll go find me some white khaki pants, a pastel shirt, a blazer, sunglasses and a Ferrari.
Ya gotta do it man.
If U got the $$$ U can still do itin Miami , a little better clothes n Ferraris , But Cool like Don iz hard 2 Buy ?
Absolutely put South Beach on the map
As a white man under fire these days from the major media & so on, I am doing just that as my budget allows! On YT,. I have been called a boomer & some of my comments have been called cringe. So, I know I am on the right track!
