We decided that if Jack himself is rocking out on a St. Vincent signature Ernie Ball and an EVH Wolfgang in concert, why not feature a total head-scratcher of our own?
I requested this video about 3 years ago, when the series was first starting. I just saw Jack White two days ago. It's like...you just know me, Reverb.
Listening to your Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground and the original, I'm fairly certain the difference in sound is the microphones. Your in-room sound was probably spot on for all of these, really good job.
Jack White is probably one of my favourite guitarists to come out of the 2000s, his playing is awesome. As for some suggestions, how about Potent Pairing - Muse, The Black Keys, Green Day or Van Halen?
the only thing i don't like about these videos is that they show the pedal without the pedal info/type of pedal/brand, etc. So if you don't just recognize the pedeal, you have to pause, look at it then pop to another tab, google it, then pop back to see the setting. Wish they just had a text overlay with like "Big Muff, Fuzz, High Sustain" something simple.... even though most can recognize that pedal, the others can get pretty niche.
What? It's valid. Not everyone can own every pedal they use... I appreciate that they dial in to specific niche pedals, but showing a bit of the general approach is helpful and it would be an easy editing thing in the videos just with text overlay. Adrian Valdez not sure what your response means.
Good job!! Thank you!! It's a way to use the pedals that can be found in "Tame impala" or "La rueda o el barco" and in the last albums of "The strokes" Rocker and refined
Just my 2¢ but whenever I play blue orchid I find the POG into the Muff sounds a lot closer than the Muff into the POG. Having a pedal trying to change the octaves of the mess of the muff just makes everything a lot messier. Great video though!
I know you probably won’t see this but you do some of the best White Stripe cover ever! I was wondering if you could do some covers of The Pack a.d. like their song Gold Rush. Love that band and they remind me of the white stripes too. You will like them too if you haven’t heard of them. Thank you have a great day
Jack White's usage of the Big Muff Pi is more clever than people give it credit for. Fuzz pedals turn your signal from Sine to Square, which organically makes modulations like Pitch Shifters sound much more pleasant to the ear, since it doesn't have to translate every point on the sine curve. Which is why Jack White's usage of the Whammy or POG sounds so.....clean, lacking crazy sounding harmonics that are too sharp
The black Gretsch he’s playing is a Streamliner Centerblock Jr. (I think the model number is G2655), they’re relatively inexpensive for how much guitar you get, I think the black only comes with a bigsby right now (or at least did last year when I got mine). They’re like $500-ish, but play way better. I absolutely love mine.
@@tomcarrington4965 thank you very much im looking at getting one im a overdrive collector i like to swap in many overdrives in my pedal board if i get bored of one. I love fuzzes to and synth pedals cause distortion feels to me the lazy mans tool.
Shitty fender amp, shitty teisco, vibrato and chorus pedal. Reverb pedal if you MUST have a reverb pedal but with a tube fender amp you should be fine on that front.
they should do seven nation army cos it's their best song and they missed the opportunity and maybe include songs like... We're going to be friends Hotel yorba Icky thump (solo) Ball and biscuit Fell in love with a girl Hello operator Black Math 300 M.P.H Torrential Out pour Blues I just don't know what to do
I feel like a lot of the time his sound comes from his frantic and energetic fingerstyle which gives it a dangerous teetering on the edge of the cliff sound 🤔
Once again... I dont understand why you are placing the amp sim/amp in a boxtype of pedals before reverb/etc. Are we assuming reverb would go on the fx loop?
Aiden Saroka 2 I just wanted Union Tube and Transistor (who actually made the pedal for Third Man) to get it's due credit. They are a great Canadian company
This was probably the closest you guys have come to the record artist in this series! Fantastic!
That isn't saying much, the other ones are completely garbage by comparison to this one.
agreed!
Yea, that's probably because the Crayon is nowhere to be seen in this video, unlike the led zeppelin or radiohead videos...
2:16 the most unexpected bass to seen in any video related to Jack White lol
Patrick Hunter Don't you remember Jack played with Def Leppard?
We decided that if Jack himself is rocking out on a St. Vincent signature Ernie Ball and an EVH Wolfgang in concert, why not feature a total head-scratcher of our own?
Reverb dude so so so true
So you saw that too? I thought I was having a stroke.
Patrick Hunter I love that bass!
Big muff, whammy, octave, mxr micro amp.
That's exactly what he used in the The White Stripes.
PCMESS +a decent spring reverb pedal unless you just have a twin laying around
he used the POG too
@@santiagoalejandrokappador4460 that is the "octave", the other one is a whammy
I requested this video about 3 years ago, when the series was first starting.
I just saw Jack White two days ago.
It's like...you just know me, Reverb.
YeOldeMemeBoi in DC? ah man i wish i could’ve gone to that.
Yeah! I was about 25 feet from the front, amazing show.
dude reverb and sweetwater ads know me better than my own mother at this point
wow... I've always seen a lot of people trying to get closer to jack's sound, and failing at it. This is the only time, i think, someone has succeed.
He was really feeling the dead leaves riff, you can tell lol
Yep, I sure was :) thanks for watching!
I just saw Jack last night and then I’m suggested this video.
It’s got to be prophetic
Dead leaves was spot on
*hears low A repeated four times*
Yup, that's Hardest Button to Button
Jack White is a genious and a true, genuine artist. He just loves making music.
Listening to your Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground and the original, I'm fairly certain the difference in sound is the microphones. Your in-room sound was probably spot on for all of these, really good job.
Jack White is one my favorite musicians. May he rock on for many years.
Sixteen Saltines was so cool. Thank you for posting this!
Jack White is probably one of my favourite guitarists to come out of the 2000s, his playing is awesome. As for some suggestions, how about Potent Pairing - Muse, The Black Keys, Green Day or Van Halen?
The actual resemblance Is amazing...
Yall nailed every tone, over and over was so spot on. I love that fuzz.
This is really great!
We couldn't have done it without you!
Eastwood Guitars love that airline map, my next guitar for sure
Joe I love you man. You always do the dopest videos of the tones of ppl who inspire me. I guess that means YOU inspire me too!
Thanks for watching :) glad you are digging the videos!
Wut?
That bass threw me off there for a sec...
Evan Phillips looks like the underwear I’m wearing right now
SweBass saucy
SweBass nice
If you end up making a part two, I’d love to see what you need to do to get the right sound for Ice Station Zebra and Black Math.
jack only ever used an mxr micro amp for overdrive, so it’d be either that into a twin reverb or the bassman pedal he was using
This has to be the closest the sounds have been matched, great job!
That bass came out of nowhere, I pray I never lay eyes on it again.
n00bzor1228 Ahahahhaahahah
2:45 imo this is 100% like the record even if its not the same equipment... great stuff guys!
Thank you for playing the riff to Blue Orchid correctly. For some reason so many people play a G where the F should be.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!
Tomasz Kasprzak YES PLEASE
Yes
Which of the 5 million guitarists??
@@sisyphuslifehacks Stu and/or joey - they play the 'lead' parts.

Especially the Boss stuff, a lot of them look the same

Dead leaves left me cold jaw dropped. That tone is sooooo good.

There’s a couple things to add but overall loved this! So glad you guys are jack fans ! Dug the video !
the energy is so perfect, bravo Reverb!
smashed it out of the ball park! great job guys!
Sounds just like him, well done
It's uncanny how close these are, fantastic video
Ziggy HunkSpunk i thought that blue orchid and icky thump were a bit off
João Mellin some of them seem played wrong
3:03 this lick sounds like Cowboys from Hell
This is as close as you can get
Amazing job
Almost 1000 times better than Anderton's By Busting video for Jack White, you guys knocked this one out of the park
Those are all great guitar tones. Possibly a bit better sounding than the originals. Bravo!

this was dooooooope. good work fam. that solo on level got me hype
Awesome! Best one yet I think. Jeff Buckley sometime in the Future?
This guy rocks. (literally)
Damn sixteen saltines was absolutely spot on; couldnt hear any differences with the original recording
I love all jack whites stuff

Been waiting for this one. Great tones!
This is spot on
I approve this video
i disapprove cos they didn't do seven nation army, it's their best song for fuck sake and they didn't do it
William Allison cuz its just overdrive and reverb. Use a slide and it sounds spot on
@Dxxtxr and the octave/whammy to do the bass
I would like to work at reverb so I had access to all those guitars
The black Gretsch he’s playing is a Streamliner Centerblock Jr. (I think the model number is G2655), they’re relatively inexpensive for how much guitar you get, I think the black only comes with a bigsby right now (or at least did last year when I got mine). That bass just coming in for a second at a time I'm crying hahahahaha
We do love a good Easter egg. :)
For Dead Leaves, Jack used a black Russian Big Muff (the later slimmer box design)
I just click the subscribe button and nobody ask me in the video, good job.
First!!!
I've been waiting for this
This made my day🎸
You guys need a video for some of the guitarists of The Flaming Lips!!
Would love one of these for Jon Spencer!
i was literally looking for this yesterday
Blue Orchid sounds HUGE.
I feel like it’s worth mentioning that a squier vm mustang is a surprisingly suitable budget substitute guitar for stripes stuff
Nobody:

anyone know the pedal he was using for dead leaves on the dirty ground? Obviously a big muff but im not sure what the other pedal is
It's the JHS Twin Twelve V2 Overdrive Pedal - thanks for watching!
I want that big muff NOW YES THE DEAD LEAVES DIRTY GROUND JUST PLAYED GIVE IT HERE

Ive waited too long for this
Very cool! Would love to see Lord Huron

Eastwood Guitars!!! Hell yeah!
What amp are you using?
Next episode - that bass
Potent pairings - mac demarco
rictualfury he uses the same pedals
SplinterCellRocks he uses reverbs, flangers, vibrato's and who knows what else
Livingroom Gear Demos did it using a holy grail nano and a julia chorus and it sounded pretty spot on tbh
Shitty fender amp, shitty teisco, vibrato and chorus pedal. Reverb pedal if you MUST have a reverb pedal but with a tube fender amp you should be fine on that front.
Put a capo on but make sure the intonation is a little fucked then get a chorus pedal and like a deluxe reverb

Placebo potent pairings please!
Can you make one on Jack Whites drum sound please? :)
Hi all. What is this guitar played here? I'm not familiar with. Trying to see the name on the headstock. I'm fascinated by it....
They should’ve used the Third Man Bumble Buzz Fuzz for “Over and Over and Over,” since he used that on the recording and live
Aiden Saroka 2 You mean the Union Tube and Transistor Third Man Bumble Buzz
Chris Hepburn Why yes. My apologies for not listing the whole name😂
Aiden Saroka 2 I just wanted Union Tube and Transistor (who actually made the pedal for Third Man) to get it's due credit. They are a great Canadian company
This video has sold me on a wooly mammoth lol
