  • @bnf82
    @bnf82 ปีที่แล้ว +57

    I use two amps and this is actually an interesting concept; it’d allow me to split the signal and have boost with different volumes for each output. That basically takes 3 pedals to do (splitter and a boost pedal for each amp) and in a small enclosure. Fortunately, they have a buffer choice (cool) and a phase switch (indispensable).
    If the price is right (haven’t even seen it yet) I’ll buy it!

    • @Dwolfmusic
      @Dwolfmusic ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Or you could get a Boss LS-2 which pretty much does what you are describing

    • @bnf82
      @bnf82 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Dwolfmusic I never tried one but, if I'm not mistaken, it doesn't do what this does; it can split but I don't remember it having a switchable boost, rather always on levels. It doesn't give the option of removing the buffer and it doesn't have a phase switch. It seems to me it was designed to A/B or combine two different pedalboards/setups/pedal combinations.

    • @davidpunzalan6408
      @davidpunzalan6408 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bnf82 you're thinking more like the EHX Switchblade (no level controls) but DirkWolfofficial is right, the LS-2 does indeed switch between separate channels that you can set to different levels (including above unity gain). LS-2 can do a lot of additional things including mix signals/instruments (I have two on my board for this reason and usually play through 2 amps). Now, LS-2 doesn't have the buffer/true bypass switch (Boss pedals are always buffered) or phase like the Double Down does. Different pedals/tools.

    • @bnf82
      @bnf82 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidpunzalan6408 so, it’s closer to a mixer, not necessarily a splitter to two amps (which requires, IMO, ground lift and phase flipping options). All that plus the extra features… I mean, I understand it’s not groundbreaking, but assuming a LS-2 (absolutely useful for other concepts) or something like an affordable/simple AB pedal is similar to this or a Radial ABY, Lehle Splitter, GigRig Humdinger, etc, is just not correct.
      For those that use more than one amp simultaneously, phase, ground and proper buffering is very important and can actually make it a great experience. Just my opinion here, if the LS-2 works in that context for you, rock on :)

    • @cloudshad0ws
      @cloudshad0ws ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bnf82 I believe you can use the EHX Tri-Parallel Mixer "backwards" (in a way) where you can output to up to 3 amps. Each with a separate gain knob, simple EQ, and a phase switch. I use it for what is stated on the box, mixing 3 parallel signals into a single amp, but you can use it the other way too. It's kind of an amazing little piece of gear, and at a super fair price.

    I had the same problem with my digitech whammy dt pedal. Kept changing stuff with my feet. I swapped over to ehx pitchfork+ and got an expression pedal for it. Now my foot is 12 inches away from any settings of the pitchfork. It does all the same stuff as the whammy and I would argue its higher quality.

    • @travisyee7278

      The Digitech Whammy II added a preset mode that allowed you to switch between just two different modes with the footpedal, basically accomplished this.

    • @destroyerjazz
      @destroyerjazz ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's also the Digitech Ricochet which is literally meant to be what he's talking about in the video, amongst a ton of other pedals that do exactly what he's talking about. It's like he had the idea for the up/down Whammy forever ago, forgot about it, re-remembered it 20 years later but didn't think to see if any new pedals that do that have been invented yet. It's easy to think of yourself as innovative when you ignore what else is going on in the pedal world for the last two decades lmao

      The standard Pitchfork is still the best, despite some occasional clock noise and artifacting in bypass.I solved this by putting in a simple, compact bypass switcher/looper, which also means you can remove the buffer when not in use.I thought that the + model was needlessly complicated for what I use it for; don't really need presets.
      For all those carrying on about various existing options, nearly all are signal wreckers.When you can't afford it, you use those kinds of pedals ,doing what you have to to minimize signal loss; when you have the money, it's nice to have well built options.

      Do you hear ground loops in the demos? I don’t. You guys are being way too nitpicky. I have an MXR EQ with a stereo output and this is not a problem.

    Do you know what would be really cool. How you’re using 2 Amps, if you could put the two amp sound in one amp. like have one big speaker, one smaller speaker and maybe a different signal that goes to each speaker

    The DD is a great idea that one would think would be more common than it is. I've been running a stereo es345 running to simple ABY switcher. I could do more with this and i like the Micro Amps.

  • @EasyHeat

    I've been using a single channel Fet based boost pedal going direct to my audio interface to help make digital amps "feel" more realistic, and also play better clipping wise with a myriad of other typically conventional analog front of amp pedals. Needless to say? I'm rather intrigued by the Double Down to undertake that overall hypothesis, but into a parallel stereo signal realm via two independent analog pre-amps?
    Could get freaky...
    To be continued....

    Lots of upkeep on that whole ''Gotta be different/weird'' as a career path model. Jack's 15 minutes has, so far, lasted a little longer than Trent Reznor's but there is a limit before one has to embrace that warm and fuzzy gray haired interviewer of dusty nostalgia stereotype, ie become the guy that women who watch Oprah like to ''connect with''. I give him 5 years before he's hanging out with Martha Stewart and golfing with Alice Cooper. sell it, boy. 7 nation army OWNS you.

    Ironic. Brian Wampler debuted his new budget pedals last week, and asked for ideas about what else he might include in a budget line. Without knowing anything about the Double Down (just learned about it 10 minutes ago), it's pretty much exactly what I suggested to Brian.

    Sounds WAY TOO clean, normal and corporate. Needs to be grunged up more with glass in a blender inside a metal box and the other channel a live bees nest inside a medium box. Also needs the rotten meat and vomit circuit with 10,000 nearly dead hearing aid batteries all mic'd up and a large foot pad for kicking the whole mess over that has broken springs hooked only on one end to a spring reverb circuit, and finally a hole and funnel on top for pouring in the gasoline and lighter fluid.
