Jack is from my old neighborhood in southwest Detroit. His music is amazing. He supports many causes in Detroit. He's a rock star and more important - a good human being on the planet. Thanks Jack!
He's a good guy - true. But no . . . his music is not "amazing". It's mediocre at best.
@@johnbarrett5229 and everyone's a critic 😆
He’s good with his fists too.👊🏻
Worse than torture
He's the last rock n roll star.
Wasn’t a big fan of Jack White
Watched “It Might Get Loud.”
Now I follow everything he does.
I also liked when Adam Savage visited and pressed a record.
that show actually confirmed for me that Jack White sucks and is not fit to carry the empty guitar case of Jimmy Page.
Right???
he did a guest spot on detriot tigers baseball. been a fan ever since.
I have never been a big White Stripes fan but I think Jack is great and a big music nerd, rock&roll wonk and just a smart and nice fellow.
Jack has come such a long, long way from when I first saw him and Meg (as The White Stripes) playing inside a small festival tent to about 8 people in Ireland back in August 2001. Despite the lack of audience, they made a strong impression on me and I knew they would go places. Continued success and joy to Jack! 😊
He's a great guy, an excellent musician, and a joker. Saw him in Detroit (where I am from, too), and he pretended to be drunk/intoxicated and kept referencing being in "Ohio," etc etc. Played amazingly all set. He of course revealed he was messing with us and everyone had a laugh of relief. I was up close and could see the side stage. His grandparents were there in comfy chairs, watching the whole set just out of view of most people. Very precious. I'm sure the grandparents had to deal with all sorts of shenanigans from him growing up.
Great story!
Not a joker, THE Joker
I'm sure it was his mom sitting in the wings - considering she's close to 90, his grandparents would be the oldest people on earth 😅
Jack doesn't nor ever has drank or done drugs.
@Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin it gives me Tom Morellos Vibes
Stephen colbert is a class act of an interviewer here. The conversation just flooooows, no interruptions, not a checklist of disjointed questions, almost like a spontaneous exchange between friends. And when the guest is comfortable, at ease it makes for a great time
Colbert is a mark for talented artists.:. Ie sturgill Simpson, John prine
Colbert is how an interviewer should be. I never understood how Letterman made it as far as he did. I always felt cringe watching him and it was rare for me to watch him-it had to be a really good guest for me to tolerate Letterman.
This is why Stephen is such a GREAT HOST & Interviewer. Make the guest comfortable, let them speak freely and without interruption, provide levity and ask questions that enlighten the viewer and audience.
I've seen Jack being interviewed before and Man is he happy and chill right here.
Ahh having ridiculous sprayed hair color and being nervous is actually chill and happy? Glad you're his manager. >>
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@CJDR What about the Cillian Murphy interview?
@@lewisreutlingen just another example of how being a prepared interviewer for a guest who is not comfortable in a a lengthy sit-down interview can become entertaining.
I think Stephen Colbert has great taste in music. I loved when he had The Mountain Goats on, and he and John Darnielle performed This Year together. It really worked, and he was so clearly thrilled.
I really feel like that time off did a lot for him. He just seems a lot more relaxed and centered than he had the past few years
IKR
It is almost as if he has 'grown up' in the last 15 years... :D
He also seems more comfortable with Stephen, maybe he just feels more relaxed in that environment. I know I’m more social if I have a “Safety” person with me
He was living here in kalamazoo where I live near the end of 2020 - I never ran into him but ends up he came in Satellite records which is near Me - My friend working there said he bought this pricy Out of print Gene Vincent Album
@@KOSMICKEN09 Be Bop A Lulah!
@@KOSMICKEN09 Gene Vincent is awesome. Makes sense Jack would be into him.
Jack is so charming, talented.... One of a kind. We are lucky to have him in our generation. 🤩😘😎
I love Stephen and Jack together so much, this was great! And congratulations to Olivia and Jack! 💙
It’s remarkable how nervous he sounds at first…until he gets talking about furniture and baseball… I dig this guy!
And about Masonic shit, which Stephen probably enjoyed
I’ve met Jack three times, no other parties interrupting. With both just stare at each other! I do that because I know he’s overloaded and has heard it all ten times before. I think he does that because he’s got a shy streak.
Jack White is the only musician that I continue to be a fan of every time he reinvents his sound.
He's just a badass blues wizard! Every jam is awesome!
I just saw him in DC Tuesday. Never really kept up with him since Stripes but my LAWD he is so talented and intense. It's always a treat seeing a musician that does it for the love of it. Didn't know a single song but they were all bangers.
where did he play!?!?!?
I love that he approaches guitar as a moment to moment kind of thing…it’s brilliant and individual and completely cool. Amazing musician in every sense.
Jack's passion and perfectionism are so inspiring .
I absolutely LOVE Jack White!! Fantastic musician, down to earth, and a great guy. Cant get any better. What a gift he is. 🙏❤️🎸
I am growing to appreciate and respect this man more and more he is just dedicated to the music for the love of the music i love it
Definitely. Im actually not a huge fan of his music but admittedly haven't listened to a lot of it either but I respect his passion and he seems like a great guy.
Jack is a GREAT positive force in the music industry. I find his energy to be very exciting.
Not very cool of Colbert low-key bagging on JW. But I don’t expect much from that guy.
Prince is a highly underrated guitar GOD.
he’s mostly known for his prolific songwriting and angelic voice, but the guy is a TRUE musical genius. he performed all the instruments in his first WB album, and even produced it himself. at 19-20 years old.
he’s also the consummate professional when it comes to his performances. you always have a great time when you’re at a Prince concert.
he’s the closest this generation will come to having its own Mozart. but Jack White is not too far off.
Today marks the 6th anniversary of his death.
#RIPPrince 💜
100% !
Underrated? Everyone knows that Prince was a musical savant.
@@kepajoy
the true diehard Prince fan would know his musical talents.
but hundreds of millions of people have bought his music through the years and i can guarantee you that a majority of those, if not most of those people wouldn’t have known about his very first WB album.
and he was a baller and master pancake maker.
What a nice, down-to-earth, creative, intelligent guy! I never knew much about him until recently. The media always portrayed him as being odd and reclusive. But seeing interviews with him, I realize how nice he is....humble. I am such a fan of him as a person as much as a musician.
He's like a Jonny Depp character come to life 💕👍
I have never seen an artist blend in more with the studio decorations.
What a great resourceful guy. 😊
He’s really genuine. Seems like a great guy
He is so creative. I love his furniture!
Ive always and will always have a huge crush on this man.
He's a genius, best sound ever in his recording,.you can tell he has a really good extreme good taste...
Gotta say, I have fallen in love with this guy years ago! I have a great appreciation & love for everything he does!
Thank You Stephen for this great guest, Jack White!
Thank You Jack!

It's nice to have someone on from Michigan that doesn't embarrass me for a change. I never let anyone tell me how to play my guitar either.
💙From Detroit
Eminem embarrassing?
@@YasminePomerantz No, but Kid Rock... 😄
So much amazing music through history… thanks Detroit!
@@atenachos6282 Exactly! I'm sorry for you guys.
Jack just always comes across as so affable. He seems genuinely happy in this period of his life
Seeing him live is on my bucket list. He is coming to my area in August (Huntsville, AL), and to say that I'm excited is a vast understatement.
I've seen him 3 times and going again this August in Minneapolis. His shows are incredible. It's not a concert, it's an experience.
@@kellyk1919 seen him here in Ireland 🇮🇪 with the white stripes, the dead weather , and solo . Epic every time
I highly recommend watching Jack White’s appearances on the Colbert Report. So funny.
I love those two together. Colbert really pushes Jack's button's, in a good way. Love and Respect 💙🎼🥁👍🏼
Thanks so much for so many great years of wonderful tunes and generally inspiration in this body! Thanks Jack !!!
Everyone have only ever met Prince once; at a thing.
Announces the release of the Holy Grail "Camille" album on the anniversary of Prince's passing - I dug Jack before, but now he is a straight up Purple Army LEGEND.
This guy Jack is oozing with creativity. I didn't know he won so many Grammys. Even Prince took notice. Then again, Prince is another legend of creativity.🎸
Oh my. Looks like I am comment #666😯.
Camille wasn’t just a speed up voice for high pitch. His background vocals was often speed down for deeper voice. He also used the same technique with his guitar, and probably some other instruments as well. This is just by memory. Listen to the genius song Erotic City, and you’ll hear exactly what I’m talking about. You can also hear his tuning of the LM-1 drum sounds, and shortening of the tail of the snare and clap on the third measure. Not sure how he did that back then.
Also (and I could be mistaken), that effect is called Varispeed & is also on Prince’s unreleased track “Bob George”
He also used the Varispeed a lot on Crystal Ball
@@jamesbrasfield2944 yes. He’d slow down the tape when recording stuff he wanted to sound high pitched in normal tempo, and he’d speed up the tape when recording something that he wanted to sound deeper and darker in normal tempo. Much cooler than pitch shifting.
For Jack White 🤘🏿🖤😎😈🤘🏿 I'm so proud of you!!!I used to go watch you jam at St.Andrews back in the day.Its great to see you always. Its like seeing an old friend.🤘🏿🍻 Getcha Pull-Cheers 🤘🏿🍻
His new album is one of the best ones hes made in a long time. Very fun listen!
I smiled the whole time while watching this 😁
same. he's the fucking man.
Did you?
Every time Jack plays he aims to blow the roof off the place.
His SNL show frikkin ROCKED.
@@SchoolforHackers Right, i miss when bands went on SNL for the sole purpose of bringing down the house.
Third Man Records in Detroit is a magic spot. There is a stage with old amps, killer pedal board and a mixer up in the balcony. Not a big place but amazing. You can watch records being made through a window at the back of the store.
I've such a crush on this man? Jack White oufffff, the talent, passion, what he has say in his music. Just a unique talent.
👍 musical genius!! Huge fan of jack white
One of my FAVORITE MUSICANS of all time!!
Such a talented, gifted person who makes use of them all! Wow!
Omg, my two favorite people in one video
Edit: i was smiling ear to ear the entire interview
Jack White Is The Man !!!
What an acoomplished and talented man. I respect that about him. Invests intelligently, makes the music he wants to me how he wants to make it and is naturally cool. Bonus, good with his hands
Artistic genius and amazing guy
Cast Evan Peters to play him on his biopic.
LOVE Jack White---thank you for interviewing him!!
Easy going, relaxed… wonderful interview… 🎶 🎸
You have to admire Jack, so much tenacity. style, smarts, energy and productivity, with just basic talent. With all these attributes I would bet he can unlock talent too.
Well said
That’s so cool that he built that pew for a masonic lodge. Amazing!
Maybe my favorite musician of the generation after mine. Brains, talent, soul, curiosity, humility.....what's not to like ?
Congratulations! E
I like that he seems passionate and dedicated to different things. I don't know his music but seems like a good guy!
he is in his BLUE stripes period .....love it
Haha
I didnt know what an impressive business man he is, as well ❤
What very nice man, and so multi-talented! I still love the song he did years ago with Loretta Lynn✌🏽
Yeah he produced that whole record, and his band, the Raconteurs, were Lorettas backing band for that album as well
Jack looks so good Healthy Happy, Love him he is as real as they come !!
Jack es encantador. Que cool que se dedique a cosas distintas y tenga un aire inventivo. Creativo hasta en los negocios. Súper cool.

Jack really is a very inspiring musician gotta give it to him
His voice is so good, and so different from when he sings
Saw him in Lubbock,Texas, sooooo amazing ❤️
I have never seen Jack White interviewed before - he is so interesting.✌️❤️
I love that Stephen is clearly a huge JW fan. ❤️
I wish Stephen would interview more musicians ..
Amazing interview! Jack is amazing!
For me, Jack White and Dave Grohl are the guardians of rock music

Jack Skellington and Jack White my two favorite Jacks. I thought I saw Jack S. in some of the art work that Jack W. uses to animate his condition. I'd say, I have some Jacks on my mind. A jack of all trades, would be one that all Jacks seems to have in common? I love that Jack W. is releasing "Camille", I had all of Prince's albums when that was supposed to be released in 86'. I was discouraged when he chose not to release it. I see a little of Prince and Bowie in Jack W. I am a solid fan, thanks for the E-ticket, Jack.😏
Jack White is amazing
Solid advice that. Love that hair. And congratulations on the rockstar wedding bro!
Was at opening day for the Tigers and his national anthem on the guitar was awesome!
I'll be seeing Jack White live this saturday in VA! can't wait. Bucket list material
Hope a quick recovery for Stephen and anyone else 💚 miss his smiling face
Congratulations jack. Wish both lots of love in ur marriage.
Jack's a national treasure.
He’s such a cool dude!!!
I’ve been recording in that Masonic lodge for years that he’s talking about, it’s an entire auditorium, and the control booth is the balcony seating, boxed in and sound proofed over looking the room. It’s spectacular
Telling someone dont let no one tell you what to do is telling someone what to do
he and his band were amazing at Bourbon and Beyond last night. A dream come true for my daughter.🤟
Dude is Strange..but he is a Genius..I can see it..love his music
Seen Jack Easter Sunday with his band, He mentioned he went to Fenway before the gig.

I'm guilty of poking some fun at Jack's anthem performance. Had I known it was recorded on his wedding day, of course I would have refrained from that right away. I still feel a little bad about it. ;-)
I always liked the Camile voice. It is cook that the album will be released.
What a legend!
I know he's a hard worker and all, but geeze Jack, get some sunlight once in a while LOL
Hahah thought the same thing
He lives up to his surname very well, kudos to that
White is his middle name, or at least his last name.
It actually looks like he’s got some makeup on or sunscreen on that has a white cast that reflects in the light.

Jack White is a phenomenal musician. If you like rock check out his other music other than The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Dead Weather and Jack White band! He saved the Detroit Masonic Temple from foreclosure by paying all debts and his record company costumizes in printing vinyl's! Wish he stayed in Michigan but.. shot out to Nashville
