Probably the GPS and not the app itself. Tracks are sometimes difficult for GPS measurements. All the turns. Try a road 5k. Run for a year and see where you're at with the 5k. The humble 5k is the most brilliant event ever developed. Many elderly folk and kids walk it and some of the quicker times are actually gotten by 40+ year olds at local events, and raising money for charity. It's just a brilliant sociological thing.
I have started running a few months ago. Fit but never done much cardio. 1-2 times a week. Around 3km per run, same speed no matter how much I push myself. Around 20 minutes per run, (~6:40-7:30" pace) . You pass my time after 3 sessions and you walked most of it, I barely walk. Damn, I'm slow. Good job.
If you pick the C25K program up around mid way it should help you. It’s the run walk combo that builds it up. I also got a lot of great running tips from the Global Triathlon Network TH-cam channel, these guys are pros. And keep going you’ve already outdone yourself.
I did the Global triathlon network program of couch to 5k. I have to say it was a good program. It is based on time as oppose to distance to complete. It’s an 8 week (im on the last week now) program but on the 7th week I did a 5k in 27:07 and I’m 5’9 250lbs. I think what helped was that the program was time based so I did most of my runs at a moderate pace so I could complete the runs without stopping. If it was for distance I’m sure I would have tried to go faster in order to finish faster and that would have messed up my recovery since I am quite heavy.
I’m also really into running and have just hit some of my 5K PB’s. Not to sound like a creep but you run my exact route that I do almost everyday. I was super shocked. I’m based around the Kennington Park area. It’s a decent route but I’m trying to find others. Burgess Park seems like it would be good. If you ever need a running buddy lol, I’m here haha 🙋🏽♀️. I obvs don’t know anyone that likes running 😩
I'm 17, and started to train veeery hard from literally couch and being fat years ago (170pounds) when i started (160 pounds) and i trained for a 5k in a month with a coach. I suffered a lot but i did it, 27 mins. 1 month later i ran a 25 mins 5k. I'm on my third month, ready for a popular race in my zone and i wish i could make sub 23:30 for this 5k. (Now i'm 145 pounds) It's not impossible, just a lot and i mean, a lot of pain and hardwork (got two injuries in my first month). I'm training every day, yesterday i got a 3'50 pace on a 500 meters, ran 5×200 meters today, I got a 38s run on the last one. Tomorrow I'll run 6k. Monday, 5×400 meters. Things that I saw impossible 2 weeks ago.
Omg do a 10k next! I've been following the London Marathon beginner plan and I've been having fun. I need to warmup and stretch more because I neglect that, but otherwise it's been fine.
The way you handled your training felt very similar to my own style. However, even though running a sub 30 minute 5k can be done within a month or even shorter. (Did mine after 3 runs), you have to be really careful not to injure yourself. My knee hurt a lot to the point I couldn't walk for a month and I already got shin splints after the 2nd week of running. So even if condition wise you can handle it, make sure your body is also adapted. I know that could take a while. So be careful with that. Now that I am fully recovered, I am once again going for it. But this time I will just do it slowly. Not too much too soon. And hopefully by the end of this year I can partake in some casual running evens again because I really missed that when I didn't run.
^^ this. Like what they always say "just because you can doesn't mean you should". I experienced the same thing too when I was preparing for a half ironman (Couch to 70.3 IM in 10 months). Rushed the 10km training block. Ended up with plantar fasciitis for 12 weeks lmao.
@@gateCodeKC Oh, that sucks. I feel like I'm heading in the same direction, though. I cannot run a single run without being hurt for a week. This time it's my ankles instead of my knee. I guess this is just how it goes with me. Running will always hurt. 😞 Were you able to run the half Ironman?
🥴I am 185 with 27% fat....I am trying to start my running but my shins hurt like hell(shin splints). I did mobility exercises and loosened my calves, hamstrings but don't know how to deal with pain. Did you experience shin splints too?? Any comment from you would be appreciated😊
@@vinodsamala8592 in the beginning I did... Currently. I'm in a lot of pain at the moment lol, but it's my thighs. I think the more you do it, but more you will get use to it.. also, the proper sneakers are insanely important. Try running on a Treadmill first. Running outside can do a lot a damage on the body. First practice in-doors.
Just start running, i am running 4x Week, with 1 Long run at the end of the week. Just be careful, and try not to increase the distance more than 10% a week. And remember, there is no need to go high intensity every run like this guy

26 minutes is a great time even if you’ve been doing regular 5km for years, impressed at your speedy advance here

Are you good at sprints? Some people has slow twich fibers, or fast twitch, so you're probably just not natrualy able to run long distance

I did the challenge exactly how you did it and took me a bit more than 30 days as some days I rested 2 days before doing it
Great Job Jay. Just started my journey two days ago. Not perfect run I will not give up. God bless you.
Am on week 5 second run ... loving it
Your first run was 1.42km in 7min. That’s a very good time for a beginner so your starting point was much higher then average c25k runner
Great job, Jay!
awesome job! you even finished strong!
Well done Jayen keep up the the keep running

Impressive, keep up the good work!
You give alfie days vibes...
Running a 5 min mile for the first run in a long time is crazy
5 min km not mile if it were a mile it would have been a 9:25 mile
Exactly my thoughts. This really doesn’t sound like a beginner’s run story. Dude must have been quite fit to begin with.
@@ethannyathi2536 it was 1.42km…less than 200m from a mile…this dude is no beginner
How have you never ran before and on your first run, you’ve clocked 1.42km at a 4.55 p/km speed. How’s that even possible for a new runner?
an inspiration
I weigh 310 and I ran a 5k in 35 mins ... it was incline.. for sure if it was flat the entire time I would of had a better score..

Do you still run or did you stop after this challenge? I would love to see this continue and go to 10k
How often do you run per week?
before i watch the rest let me just say if you have a pulse you can probably run a a 5k in 30 mins in a month.
Yeah I called it, you killed it. 30 is just too easy of a goal lol.
For a true beginner 5k in 30 mins in just a month is v hard

Have a hard time believing someone who never ran got up to 8.5 minute miles 1 month of training.
Non stop 5k?
Of course
So you are telling me that you have never run in your life and then you clocked a 26 minute 5 kmeter run on your 11th attempt Sure I believe you
