    I’m also really into running and have just hit some of my 5K PB’s. Not to sound like a creep but you run my exact route that I do almost everyday. I was super shocked. I’m based around the Kennington Park area. It’s a decent route but I’m trying to find others. Burgess Park seems like it would be good. If you ever need a running buddy lol, I’m here haha 🙋🏽‍♀️. For a true beginner 5k in 30 mins in just a month is v hard

    • @bensonvong
      @bensonvong 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JamesButler-yw6rmtoo many factors to say including age, weight, sports background, life style, smoker v non smoker, etc. So there are many types of beginners. Let define a beginner as someone that basically doesn’t run. But beginner A could be 40 years old, 300 lbs with no sports background vs beginner B who is 25 years old, 150lbs who was a swimmer in high school. Due to apps like couch to 5K, more and more people are taking up running. So the average speed for 5K has actually gone down. As previously it was less accessible and most people that ran in races or park runs were the runner or athlete types. Now, it is a much larger mix of the general population.

    I'm 17, and started to train veeery hard from literally couch and being fat years ago (170pounds) when i started (160 pounds) and i trained for a 5k in a month with a coach. I suffered a lot but i did it, 27 mins. 1 month later i ran a 25 mins 5k. I'm on my third month, ready for a popular race in my zone and i wish i could make sub 23:30 for this 5k. (Now i'm 145 pounds) It's not impossible, just a lot and i mean, a lot of pain and hardwork (got two injuries in my first month). I'm training every day, yesterday i got a 3'50 pace on a 500 meters, ran 5×200 meters today, I got a 38s run on the last one. Tomorrow I'll run 6k. Monday, 5×400 meters. Things that I saw impossible 2 weeks ago.

    Probably the GPS and not the app itself. Tracks are sometimes difficult for GPS measurements. All the turns. Try a road 5k. Run for a year and see where you're at with the 5k. The humble 5k is the most brilliant event ever developed. Many elderly folk and kids walk it and some of the quicker times are actually gotten by 40+ year olds at local events, and raising money for charity. It's just a brilliant sociological thing.

Around 20 minutes per run, (~6:40-7:30" pace) . You pass my time after 3 sessions and you walked most of it, I barely walk. Damn, I'm slow. Good job.

      If you pick the C25K program up around mid way it should help you. It’s the run walk combo that builds it up. I also got a lot of great running tips from the Global Triathlon Network TH-cam channel, these guys are pros. And keep going you’ve already outdone yourself.

    • @DAjugRnaut
      @DAjugRnaut 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the Global triathlon network program of couch to 5k. I have to say it was a good program. It is based on time as oppose to distance to complete. It’s an 8 week (im on the last week now) program but on the 7th week I did a 5k in 27:07 and I’m 5’9 250lbs. I think what helped was that the program was time based so I did most of my runs at a moderate pace so I could complete the runs without stopping. If it was for distance I’m sure I would have tried to go faster in order to finish faster and that would have messed up my recovery since I am quite heavy.

  • @IGotsBadFeeling
    @IGotsBadFeeling 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The way you handled your training felt very similar to my own style. However, even though running a sub 30 minute 5k can be done within a month or even shorter. (Did mine after 3 runs), you have to be really careful not to injure yourself. My knee hurt a lot to the point I couldn't walk for a month and I already got shin splints after the 2nd week of running. So even if condition wise you can handle it, make sure your body is also adapted. I know that could take a while. So be careful with that. Now that I am fully recovered, I am once again going for it. But this time I will just do it slowly. Not too much too soon. And hopefully by the end of this year I can partake in some casual running evens again because I really missed that when I didn't run.

      @IGotsBadFeeling 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gateCodeKC Oh, that sucks. I feel like I'm heading in the same direction, though. I cannot run a single run without being hurt for a week. This time it's my ankles instead of my knee.
