Sounds to me like there was some miscommunication between the Chef and the server, however I think everyone left Happy after That Cheeseburger, I know that I would have left Happy after That Cheeseburger!!!...
I think it's because the profits are not high on the fixed price menus so two guests are more likely to order alcohol (where the restaurant makes profit).
Man, let me just say something. I've live in the East Village for 2 years now and have passed by this restaurant for 2 years now without ever have gone inside of. Hello it's Michael! Head waiter in Crystal River Florida. So enjoy your review of this restaurant. Some people don't get it but a burger can be considered cusine. To find a great burger is hard to find! Your demeanor is top notch!
Great insight into your food review. It is hard to say about the crisped up patty but I myself would have enjoyed it. Still, loved the review and if I ever get to NYC that is a place worth trying! As always, appreciate your insights!!
Intelligence, mindfulness of the present food, and great imagery in your descriptions. The calm voice is a bonus. This is a phenomenal food review channel, can't wait to see more.
The polite thing to do would've been to say r those yours or r we sharing lol then if she would have said no those r mine, then u could've said Oh I don't blame u they r delicious. If she said no thanks I don't want them then u could say ok I don't mind if I do, and enjoyed them. Anyways it would've been a conversation starter since u thought she was attractive😉No loss, u had a great meal and a delicious video!
There's a Seoul vibe to Nowon's interior. Modern Korean cuisine features a lot of innovation and Nowan's menu really reflects that. For the quality I think $21 is a very reasonable price.
There used to be a burger here in Toronto called the Bymark burger (named after the fine dining establishment that served it) that cost $75 CAD ($49 USD). It was filled with premium beef maybe wagyu and luxury ingredients like truffle. Although the restaurant closed years ago the burger was on many "best burgers of Toronto" lists.
Whoa, those tots! Broccolini looks awesome! How were you not full already after that? That kimchi burger looks amazing! I stand on sesame seeds (McDonalds taught me well in my youth). I have to check this place out! The desert looks like an Asian creme brule'. You must've been full after that - and you lost the girl! Story of my life...LoL
James, excellent and thorough review as always. I would agree that good burgers are staples, but unfortunately had to cut back for health reasons. Have you had a chance to try Donovan's in Woodside? They made a great bacon cheeseburger in the past. Haven't been there in a while though.
Looks excellent, James! My "guilty pleasure burger" is The Black Truffle Burger at Uncle Jack's. Not cheap at $49, but absolutely amazing. Give it a go one fine day! Great review as always, sir!
Pro Tip. If you get the set menu, ask them to give a little time between dishes, which are served family style. When we went, the dishes came out so fast and furiously that they ended up cold.
James, seems like a very reasonable price for such a heavenly meal. The broccolini, the burger with the sesame seed bun would have been too much for me and I would have missed out on that dreamy sweet potato pie. Ouch!
Great review I loved it. I did screw up and ordered without cheese I'm not a cheese guy on a burger and it looks much better with cheese. I got my friend the cheese I ate garlic honey tots and goguma pie and I really enjoyed it. I'm going to Palm Springs this weekend and take my mom to try Cajun steak at mortons it's great in NYC. Also on Mondays at Applebee's they do a $27 6oz steak with garlic mash potatoes and broccoli for $14. I go every Monday.
Another superlative James Andrews review. This smashburger trend just isn't for me. I prefer burgers medium-rare, not well-done with the juices pressed out of them.
Thank you! I know what mean. I do prefer a thicker burger cooked to a medium rare over a smash burger, but if done right, I think a smash burger can still be really good.

When the food is that good in NY, people will buy it if they have it. Cost of living over there is pretty high so a $21 burger is helping pay the restaurant's rent I'm sure.@@Jamesnu
It’s a burger from an Asian restaurant! Probably as bad as Asian food at an American joint! Also guy, have the balls to speak to the chick and you might get a number!
You’re a hot mess like the rest of us. Next time BE BOLD! Grab the chip! You’re more capable than you think, stop blocking yourself. This time around.. try the unknown. Say hello.
James, stop being so cheap. Just pay double for the set menu and eat by yourself. As you said it is great value. It should be more than enough food for your big appetite.
You not eating the chips because they possibly weren't yours makes you one of the nicest people in New York City.
Haha! I try!
I agree, though I would be carrying those chips home in a doggie bag after the lady left! 😬😂
I would blame the server for poor communication on who it’s for.
