Alcohol is prevalent in the industry. No one should judge you for drinking or not drinking. It’s your body. Drinking does help the social environment and definitely has benefits. Jae and I used to drink a lot and consciously decided to quit drinking for health and business reasons. We made better decisions when sober. Jae is just sharing his journey with this. Since most episodes revolve around drinking, we did a sober episode, which is why the NA part is magnified. Thank you all for supporting Vice and my cousin! We love this industry and will continue try our best to encourage positivity with or without alcohol!
Totally agree! Though when it comes to personal diet, it starts to hit cultural and personal (even religious) beliefs. It’s not the message itself but the way it’s delivered that matters the most.
Big respect, being a non-alcoholic restauranteur is rare and you're always surrounded by it. Glad to see that Chef Lee realizes his health is more important than fitting in.
Very refreshing sober episode. I just quit drinking a year ago and this was very inspiring AND eye opening to see so many non alcohol wine alternatives, didn’t know they existed! GREAT episode, props! Not drinking has been the BEST choice I’ve made in my life too!!
As much as it’s entertaining to see a hungover chef struggle to describe the debauchery of the night before, this episode was awesome! I’m thankful that being sober (flex or fully) is more openly celebrated, it’s super important for kids to see adults making these conscious decisions.
I've done cleanses from foods and spirits like a year and half no alcohol and 3 years no red meat. 3 month, 6 month intervals and what not so this was 🔥 And whether or not you don't drink again for the rest of your life, do so moderately, or maybe the same AT LEAST you are aware of your health and really know about BALANCE. Great episode!
I'm a young professional cook, I'm in culinary school during the day and my friends and I run a restaurant at night. When we invited the chefs from school to the restaurant they made us drink so much and they told us "this is training for you cause when you move on to other restaurants the drinking will get worse". There rlly is a crap ton of alcohol in the industry.
you know what I stopped watching these videos because I felt like watching people drink the whole time made me sad. But I'm glad I clicked on this one!
this makes me feel so included! ive had to give up alcohol for health reasons and this had given me hope that i will be able to go out with my friends and still enjoy
I am so inspired by this episode. I had a big health scare and decided to quit alcohol. I am a bit anxious about the big events coming up and not drinking, since drinking made it easier to socialize. Thank you for this episode!
HUGELY inspiring. Alcohol always makes me feel like shit whether it's one drink or ten and I hate going to bars and they're only alternatives are ginger beer like ??? So much creativity in these mocktails. Thank you!
Almost didn't watch this bc I enjoy people getting wasted but then I realized there was a time in my life when I was drinking NA beverages 😂😂😂. Glad I watched 👍👍🔥🔥
Love this! Thanks for sharing that sans alcohol = a great night out and how you will feel even more grounded and connected to whom you’re sharing the experience with!
I'm sober and had a chance for beer and actually didn't drink. Been more productive lately so I'm happy about the choice. Glad you guys had fun looked so good 😋
Bunch of haters in the comments in this episode smh i guess some people need booze to have a good time. Big ups to the man for his commitment and just enjoying time with his friends
chef for 12 years here, doing my best to stay sober and clear minded as alcohol has had a net negative effect on my life overall. its difficult to stay away from booze when working in hospitality. the long shifts , the stress and at times difficult people push us towards drugs and alcohol , but i guess there are restaurants with a more healthy and sustainable culture like this one . kudos to him
This is awesome, I'm almost 5 years sober & it's definitely the best decision of my life 👍👍👍 And how can you hate on burgers, wings & tater tots??! Can't wait to try his restaurant
When I was first dating my wife I wanted to 'wow' her with a great dinner. I spent 3 days prep and planning and 6 hrs making sure my roast was the way that I wanted it. I was so pleased with the results. She came over for dinner. I carved the roast and presented to her with pride. The very first thing out of her mouth was....."Yay!! Tator-Tots!!" lol (Just to let you know that was 12 yrs ago and she still likes me and tator-tots)
Yo, this is one of the most unique episode yet. Felt like every chefs night out tailored their restaurant choices to some sort of drinking, but this episode went to get a head massage. 😂 cool group of people, great fashion sense, sick tatted sleeve!
This was great! Love to see the mocktails etc. Lots of people don't drink b/c of religious reasons also so it's nice to see. I'd also would like to see a vegan Chef's night out. There's such variety in the vegan world these days and I'd love to see a spot like that! Thanks so much!
Hell yeah, kambucha in the party. Awesome! The best of alternatives for non alcohol consumers ..pairing is more than just the level of tipsiness. Pairing any beverage iss great but this is a great market for a food experience. It's got the bite the variety and...punch. love this episode.
I liked this episode, very chill and some interesting food especially the non alcoholic bar. I never had a drinking problem so I can't relate to that part, but I enjoyed learning about it nonetheless. The only thing is that maybe the friends are a bit quiet, maybe a bit intimidating to hang out with a camera crew? (his guy friend is so cute also)
Would really like to see more African food represented on this channel and see more African chefs on the night out. This is nice to see as well and Jae Lee is clearly talented but this channel has almost become a de-facto Asian food channel. I'm sure NYC must have many African restaurants.
Nice to see people going sober and rejecting the boozy culture of restaurants. Next step is healthy eating. It’s shocking how many chefs, waiters, bartenders etc have horrible diets. Staff food is often an after thought, and anything but nutritious. People who work in restaurants know.
I was so disappointed when he said no alcohol, chefs night out is great because its so fun to watch them when they get sauced by the time they get back to their restaurant.
Can somebody please explain the point of non-alcoholic beer to me? If you don't drink, that's certainly your prerogative, and more power to you. But if that's the case, why not just drink water or soda or something? I mean... shotgunning a non-alcoholic beer is kind of like snorting corn starch, is it not? They toss the cans on the ground like they just really powered through something. I don't get it. What's with the charade?
Its similar to the concept of decaf coffee (it's about the taste and not having the effects of caffeine) so it's meant to be beer tasting without the alcohol. Again I don't personally get it but to each their own 🤷♂️
The NA beer in that scene is somewhere around half the calories of a standard beer. Still tastes like beer, but no hangover. How about the comparison between Coke Zero and regular Coke?
As someone in recovery, I can't drink anymore but I still love the taste of beer. Yeah it's functionally flavored bread water but I really enjoy it. Plus there are social situations where people are drinking but you can't, like maybe you're driving, or have to work the next day. Have as many NA beers as you want!
it's crazy ppl on twitter are always talking about fried rice has to have a dark brown color & I see an Asian chef eat fried rice with hardly any color & talk about how great it is. 🙃
Wack, fried rice can be dark or light depending on the type of seasoning in it so it's really just up to people's tastes. I've found darker fried rice typically is more salty because it's usually dark because of soy sauce, maybe those people just like salt?
Hello guys. I'm from the Bay Area and I'm trying to bring sweetbreads into public awareness because, believe it or not, they're quite difficult to obtain here despite being such a culinary paradise otherwise. I called around, and turns out that meat factories around here literally throw them away to become meal and dog food, which is a crime if you ask me. I'm requesting, if you may, that you make a video on sweetbreads. The world needs to know about them.

Yes ! Burgers, chicken wings and tater tots, so healthy haha
Getting drunk after one can even when it’s bud light kinda makes it hard becoming alcoholic
agree..its good that he wanted to change himself for better life 😊
Good on Munchies for doing an episode showcasing a non-alcoholic chef. This was a great one!
👎🏼
Very refreshing sober episode. I just quit drinking a year ago and this was very inspiring AND eye opening to see so many non alcohol wine alternatives, didn’t know they existed! GREAT episode, props! Not drinking has been the BEST choice I’ve made in my life too!!
Great to hear and well done! I’m going to do it in January!
As much as it’s entertaining to see a hungover chef struggle to describe the debauchery of the night before, this episode was awesome! I’m thankful that being sober (flex or fully) is more openly celebrated, it’s super important for kids to see adults making these conscious decisions.
Great to see an episode that doesn't promote to rampant alcoholism already present in the industry
Knowing who to in joy, life with friends is always the way to go over great food.
Thank you #Munchies. This was a cut above Chef's Night Out. Great to see them focusing on the food and varieties available.
I've done cleanses from foods and spirits like a year and half no alcohol and 3 years no red meat. 3 month, 6 month intervals and what not so this was 🔥

you know what I stopped watching these videos because I felt like watching people drink the whole time made me sad. But I'm glad I clicked on this one!
he's gotta be the first chef in this series to go to a hair salon, and they walked around for a good bit too! much respect 🙌
this makes me feel so included! ive had to give up alcohol for health reasons and this had given me hope that i will be able to go out with my friends and still enjoy
I am so inspired by this episode. I had a big health scare and decided to quit alcohol. I am a bit anxious about the big events coming up and not drinking, since drinking made it easier to socialize. Thank you for this episode!
i fk with ppl who can have fun without alcohol.
Dang that food at the end looks amazing. Also, super inspirational to not drink. Definitely tough being surrounded by it. So big ups to Jae
Loving the direction this series is going. Balancing out from the party
Really enjoyed this sober Chef Night Out !
As a Nonalcoholic person I loved this!
100% respect...our normal state is sober ...yup best cure for a hangover don't drink... Cheers
But shotgunning 🤦🤦🤦
No drinking in moderation is key sometimes it can be helped.
Bruh that broccoli dish sounds fire..
I'm sober and had a chance for beer and actually didn't drink. Been more productive lately so I'm happy about the choice. Glad you guys had fun looked so good 😋
Bunch of haters in the comments in this episode smh i guess some people need booze to have a good time. Big ups to the man for his commitment and just enjoying time with his friends
the amount of negativity in this comment section is amazing. didn't realise how many people get offended by not drinking. it's fucking wild
chef for 12 years here, doing my best to stay sober and clear minded as alcohol has had a net negative effect on my life overall.
its difficult to stay away from booze when working in hospitality.

You are my hero. Keep it up!
What a great episode.
Jae has the most beautiful eyes, like so handsome omg
Chef's night out has always been about the food, not the drinking. No reason to fake it.
more sober chefs! This was an incredible showcase of food too
I love this episode! Please do more chef day out!!
When I was first dating my wife I wanted to 'wow' her with a great dinner. I spent 3 days prep and planning and 6 hrs making sure my roast was the way that I wanted it. Jae Lee is incredible.
Changing the narrative and culture of being a chef!
Yo, this is one of the most unique episode yet. Felt like every chefs night out tailored their restaurant choices to some sort of drinking, but this episode went to get a head massage. 😂 cool group of people, great fashion sense, sick tatted sleeve!
much love + respect to my boy jae, nowon is amazing ✨
As someone in recovery. I love NA beers.
mad respect ma man
Yesssss I love this show
This was great! Love to see the mocktails etc. Lots of people don't drink b/c of religious reasons also so it's nice to see. I'd also would like to see a vegan Chef's night out. There's such variety in the vegan world these days and I'd love to see a spot like that! Thanks so much!
Appreciate the sober chef day out
Great episode!
Too wholesome - love it
Hell yeah, kambucha in the party. Awesome! The best of alternatives for non alcohol consumers ..pairing is more than just the level of tipsiness. Pairing any beverage iss great but this is a great market for a food experience. It's got the bite the variety and...punch. love this episode.

This was the best chef night. No pretentious bs
Great video, chefs! Felt v seen with the boba, mochi donuts, asian massages and even appreciated the non alc POV. Keep doing what u do 🙌
Its nice to see non alcoholic alternatives. Very progressive!!

Always so fire
Damn, that broccolini! 🤤

Love it!
I want to see a vegan/ vegetarian one.
Oh please.
cool man!
Finally a CNO that’s not a drunkfest
That was refreshing! Don't get me wrong I love the boozy ones but this was a lovely addition to my favorite series
I liked this episode, very chill and some interesting food especially the non alcoholic bar. "Night Out" but it's daytime outside
We got a lot of alcoholics in the comments, some of y’all need help, quickly
why you talk alot while ur staffs ... i mean friends are silent?
Yea he talks like 99% of the time he didnt give them the chance to talk
Fuck yeah!

"Spirited Away" could be named "Slip Sauce" lol.
I'm drinking Whisky and Coke watching this. Cheers!
I have seen one black chef with tons of Caucasian, Latino, and Asian chefs..
Come on munchies!!!
We have shotgunned non alcoholic beers while deployed in Iraq. Trust me, you are not the first.
I was so disappointed when he said no alcohol, chefs night out is great because its so fun to watch them when they get sauced by the time they get back to their restaurant.

ye kinda cringe. seems like something my mom would do to seem cool -.-
The NA beer in that scene is somewhere around half the calories of a standard beer. Still tastes like beer, but no hangover. How about the comparison between Coke Zero and regular Coke?

@@srndsnd Yea I was also thinking about this perspective. Big ups fam glad you're healing during the process 🙏
it's crazy ppl on twitter are always talking about fried rice has to have a dark brown color & I see an Asian chef eat fried rice with hardly any color & talk about how great it is. 🙃
That is called young chow fried rice which is white color
Wack, fried rice can be dark or light depending on the type of seasoning in it so it's really just up to people's tastes. I've found darker fried rice typically is more salty because it's usually dark because of soy sauce, maybe those people just like salt?
Dude those people don’t know anything bout fried rice

Why don’t more chefs just smoke weed? Great for creativity as well
cool
Jae Lee the comic book artist?
yee lon ma
!
That’s a lot of words to say that you just hydrating, homie
are all the chefs on munchies asian 🤣
After a sober chefs night out, y’all need to do a bartenders night out. Balance the scales a bit.
Drinking non-alcoholic beer is like changing the oil of a rental car
Felt like a therapy session. 😴
What rebels... shotguns na beer then litters on the ground lol. Ummmmm....ok?
Weirdos
Wow. This is about as American as it gets.
I'm sober, but this shit is fucking cringe. Shotgunning nonalcoholic beers ? Why ?
First
Probably the worst chefs night out episode & boring compared to other episodes 😕
Doctorine and croot ? Wtf in the food.
Non alcoholic beer when i'm from its called soda
shotgunning beer is stupid enough, but this doesn't even get you anywhere
even if it was a sober episode. it didn't have to be boring.
Easily worst chefs night out, the hair stop solidified it.
I mean, i really tried, and i enjoyed the content, but it was just not a Chefs Night Out. Kinda boring... no disrespect.
I watch this for the alcohol abuse... This is boring!
