- Hello TH-cam, in today's video, we are going to disassemble the Asus Rog Strix G17 G713 gaming laptop to upgrade the memory(RAM) and the NVME M.2 SSD. In this Asus Rog Strix G17 gaming laptop, there are two memory slots and two slots for Solid State Drives. I am going to upgrade from 16GB DDR4-3200 to 32GB DDR4-3200, and going to install one more 512GB Samsung M.2 SSD. The maximum memory is 32GB on this laptop. Let's do it!

Hi, did you change the SSD of your OS? Because at the end of the video, the SSDs are swapped in place.

Hi Man - thanks! I just wasn't able to understand how to remove that last screw haha. I have a question for you - what is the RAM density with the stock memory? Is it Rx8 or Rx16?

@@PTITBROTHERGravenhurst Haha yes. I tried it for sure. But that 'prying' open thing scared the shit Outta me. It was too tight lol. I gave up.
Yea you will need some skill otherwise the plastic studs breaks, but you can fix them with a glue.

Does not use Satas. Just nvme

I guess RAM is replaced with crucial ballistix. It's give you full speed of 3200Mhz with better timings?
great video!! i have a question tho do you still need to disconnect the led cables and batter in order to just install an extra ssd? i ask cuz im not very hardware smart lol so the less messing with it by disconnecting things for me the better lol i just wanna make sure
You don't really need to disconnect them, but it is not that easy installing a ssd if you don't disconnect them.

I will try when I have a chance. In my understanding, this one has a liquid metal for the cpu and gpu thermal. Not the regular thermal compound. The instructions will be different for sure
Hi, I have a question, Are you running these ssds in Raid0 ? if so, can you make a comparison of the speeds before and after?
I have one of these and i`m concerced about the limitation of archieving the "about double" speeds on raid0 compared to single drives, since some MB designs seems to have a limitation of that.

can i add a 32gb ram to other slot in my laptop if I have 16gb on one slot? would it be ok
those ssd's? I thought they would be a little bigger, than just a card. Do you have to change the BIOS? if so how? Also, where did you buy the extra ram and ssd? Is there a special part number? Sorry, very new to this. I get the laptop today and want to order two 16gig sticks, and another 1gig ssd for backup. Your help would be appreciated. Customer service stated that the SSD can only be 1Tb. I thought it could upgrade more. ROG Strix G17 G713 that is what I just got today
Two 16 gb sticks of ram are a waste of money for gaming. Jarrodstech or hardwareunboxing did a great video on the laptop ram configs

i bought a 1TB SSD the same brand as the one that came with my G713 mine came with an intel 500gb ssd and bought 32 gb crucial all from amazon

Yes. If you want to transfer the data from your old SSD.

and is there a screw in the empty m.2 slot or do I need to get that myself?
It is a Philip head and I think there was a screw for the 2nd ssd

When you say the maximum ram is 32GB, do you mean per slot, or total? Also does MHz matter
For both slots, but on some websites, it says the maximum is 64gb. I don’t know which one is the truth.

@@PTITBROTHERGravenhurst Specifications on the Asus website clearly says that it will support maximum 64 GB RAM, with 2 Nos. of 32 GB DDR4 modules.
Definitely 64gb for the entire laptop (i find it on the official website)

Sorry. Have no information on that, but you could just use a USB wifi card if you need to replace the card.

for some laptops, there are warranty stickers that rips off while disassembly, but for this one, I have not found any warranty stickers. So, maybe it is okay

Look here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAS_latency I really did not consider the latency when I chose the memory. The size was more important to me

Not 100% sure.. but changing memory and storage devices are not going to kill your laptop. (of course there is always a chance to damage components while disassembling it)

I ripped the entire battery connector off of the goddamn motherboard, even though I held it in place and wiggled it gently. Fml
What's the best way to reconnect the RGB cable?
Just grab one of the cable and connect then connect the other one too. After that, you can close the bottom cover.
