Thx man, my laptop had been over heating to close 100 degrees c, now I now why, clogged up heat sink😅 Now the max temperature is just above 80, you just save my laptop👍
My pc overheats as well, so I decided to by myself the tools and the thermal paste and fix it myself! Wish me luck! Edit: I cleaned it out, but the thermal paste couldn't get replace, because a screw was stopping me from doing so. The screw was so tight in there that it broke the grove while trying to unscrew it. My laptop still overheats, but not as much as before. I can actually play my games for once 💀
@@archfpsmee too. i have a asus ryzen 3 and i never clean my laptop this year, and ist overheating, so tonight im cleaning my fan so i can play more fortnite😅
Extra tips: - Just for added safety, you can add tape on the battery connector to avoid accidental touches. Remove the tape once once you are done with everything. - you can actually remove the shell of the fans so that you can thoroughly clean the individual blades. It will greatly improve the air carrying capacity of the fans by thoroughly cleaning the fan blades. You can use compressed air but be sure to fix the fan blades to avoid damage to the fan motor. - Compressed air and a paint brush will be helpful to thoughly clean the vent fins. - If the laptop is more than 2 years old, it is still best to replace the thermal pads of the VRAM modules. Those components can be a possible failure point if they overheat for long periods. - You can spread the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU dye to ensure that the entire heating surface gets coverage by the heatsinks and avoid any air pockets.
Clean, new paint brushes are a godsend for cleaning, been using them for decades. For smoke build up, that oily layer, dip a brush in acetone/alcohol and brush that oil away. Vent the room of course. I also use a tiny bit of copper polish on the heat sinks, clean them up and make them shiney. Not sure if it increases performance at all, but its simple, looks nice, and you can almost mirror polish them. This setup looks very familiar to my gigabyte KF5 or something. Almost identical heat pipes and screw mounts. Edit: my Gigabyte I forgot has 2 sided heat sink and fan exhaust on both sides.
i was searching for videos of disassembling asus laptops cause i will disassemble my Asus G731GW, this is the best video i've found yet. i was thinking about cleaning the paste also from the vram's and applying Noctua NT-H2 there but after seeing your video i'm not sure if i will change the paste to the vrams just in case. i've seen a comment in YT from someone who spoke with asus and said that this paste for the vrams that asus uses, is not available to consumers.
Is doing this total begineer friendly? I never open the back of my laptop at all for 6+ years and seeing the little connected stuffs make it looks fragile, i'm scared of messing up my laptop 😭
I have seen a professional technician do my laptop and I find it relatively easy to do. Just don't rush it and REMOVE THE BATTERY first before doing anything to the laptop.
@@Flakingboi it went great. But you need to get ready with how overwhelming it may look. Like the other person and the one on the video said, remove the battery's smol cable first before doing anything. I cleaned my fan with paintbrush and it's not very clean but it's the best i could do and i don't change the thermal paste bc according to my research, it's still looks fine. It works completely fine after i reassemble.
