I think quite a few drivers will be bringing over their LFM ACC and iRacing experience. rFactor2 seems to still have that stigma that it's too hard to get working for a beginner.
I had the same thought. I've been raising my licenses in WSS and RF2s systems and in rookies all I do is try and stay out of trouble, I don't care about my driver rating. But other people seem to treat it like every race is a world championship. Personally, I want to get out of rookies and drive the good stuff ( especially in RF2, where you have the BTCC and Porsche cup in silver ). Maybe some people really like the rookie cars and want to stay there!
Thanks for showing the online ranking system for RFactor 2. As others say, looked like pretty good racing by all. Being from the US, Portland was a yearly event used by Indycar Series for many years up till 2007. Thanks for the video. Take care.
If you're just hearing about Portland, go back and watch the IndyCar races from the past few years. It's always a good time. And up until this year, you were guaranteed an incident in the first two corners, which shook up the race (and in some cases, the championship). Some of the best races are the ones where the predictions are out the window by the end of the first lap.
I'll have to give rFactor2 another chance. I've enjoyed the races you've posted. Gave me fun stuff to think about as get my head around some health issues.
same here - I can't even remember how many times I've approached rF2 before with no luck. But now - with some VR issues fixed and AMAZING online it is just brillant. I'm kind of sad I've been stuck with iRacing for to long (and spend to much on it)
Great to see you racing at my local track! And let me tell you that your experience at PIR is much like everyone’s. It’s a far trickier course than you’d first expect. Cheers!
Hi Dave. Watched a couple of your rFactor Online experiences and appretiate. Just started to use it and find it most entertaining to be able to prepare and race Online against (in my case so far) 'beginner' level. Last nigt however I was quite surprised of how the game interpreted what was going on. First time ever I was out (hopefully the last) in a race with a complete moron that seemed to be there to trash the race for everybody else. As long as the Online dep in rFactor do not prohibit destruction behaviour it invite more of those trolls in racing and if so the popularity might decrease a lot. What happened was: After practice and qualification (take some time to prepare a race you look forward to participate in) we was waiting the 2 min on the grid for the start. Then a guy with nick George Floyd suddenly with full reverse speed crashed into my front and then went crazy and hit as many cars he could. I didn't do anything as I suspected I could be DQ but when the field left I was DQ and couldn't race. I watched the race (wondered why just I was DQ and not the other cars he was hitting at start grid) and he was only after destroying the race. He ran in full speed into every car he could hit during the race and it was ju sad to see a moron take over the game as such. So why... ...can't the game discover that kind of behaviour and take such an idiot out immediatly. To start with he was driving around the grid BEFORE start and hitting cars and was NOT DQ and was able to start the race and continue this kind of carnage. Quite easy to take a car out that is reversing and driving around a grid before start isn't it? A banned account would be the immediate action as well. THoughts of this? My best
Nice to see you on rF2, Dave. I only have two races behind me, but the online system works really well. I wish I could drive the BMW a little better - I find it too slippery, but in general the rFactor2 experience is a good one.
The trouble with the rookie class is that not everyone is actually a "rookie", as they have raced on the likes of Iracing, AC, ACC etc, that is why some are so fast I think
Lots of us have been racing on rF2 for years, not just on the other sims. Portland is one of the classic rF2 tracks, so better known than most, I would think. But to be fair, Dave is probably also in a high split. When P11 is that big a fight for Dave, that's quite a high standard!
been trying to improve my safety rating the last 2 weeks and each time before I know it I end up fighting for positions without realizing im doing it and end up getting hit lol
I would love to try the new RF2 ranking system. but for some reason RF2 graphically runs like crap on my system, and I think I have a pretty good gaming rig. I have no issues with IRacing, AC, ACC or Raceroom, but when I fire up RF2, the graphics look terrible, and performance (frame rate) is horrendous. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, because I would love to give RF2's new ranking system a try.
Tried your suggestion. The game still looks and performs like crap. 😕 Oh well, looks like IRacing is still going to be my go to sim for the foreseeable future. @@davecamyt
it is tricky, especially in VR. But with few days of tweaking/searching/testing rFactor2 can look (on proper content) fantastic, still providing full FPS. What a hidden marble.
I haven't watched the entire video yet, but please Dave, if you want to prioritise safety rating, qualify. By not starting at the back you have less chances of getting a collision on lap 1 (less cars ahead of you) and after that you have to make less overtakes, which means there are less chances of getting any kind of contact. It's just a tip, and I'm sure you're aware of this already
Are all cars on RF2 this much of a handful? I feel like 80% of these times you were hanging the rear out, in iRacing you'd already be in the wall, backwards.
Hi Dave are you still on triples and if so what settings do you run and approximately what FPS do you get as rf2 seems to be harder to run than Iracing ???
For a rookie series, when compared to other games, it's reasonably clean racing

I used to watch the Kamel GT and Kart series here back in the 1980's . Nice to see my hometown track in a sim!
That first sound of a first curb startled me.

Dave you have RF2 looking really good here. Nice job
Great video Dave. I like how Jim was pronouncing Serge's last name "Motembo" as in Dikembe Motembo.

I flippin went out to check my car alarm. Then I came back to the video to realise it was your end, lol !
That Radical looked a bit of a handful Dave.
Great racing as always.
Keep it up.
👍
Going into a rookie race to improve your safety racing is quite a suicide Dave 😅 anyway I always admire your fair and clean driving
The Radical's look like alot of fun, I've only driven the AC mod version. The fast guys in front probably not really "rookies"!
Hey Dave - Portland is a classic IndyCar track from the 90s ;)
driving that thing looked butt-sweatingly fun. great drive! might I also suggest bumping up the car sounds a bit louder?
I just watched GPLaps' 1990 season on this same track and it's nice to see how the circuit really is XD

Should we give for this video a thumbs up as well Mr. Dave? I didn’t quite felt the effort 😄
The Infinity cars will race Portland without the Cup Series going there too.
what day of the week do the races change ??
Love these Radicals. How did the Tatuus race go?
That video will be split over two days. You'll see why 🤣
lol, i will look forward to it. @@davecamyt
How many races have you done, Dave? Because you should be out of rookies/bronze within around 10. (As long as you finish of course)
The sound when you go over the Rumble Strips just is wrong..LOL.
Hi Dave how do you get the virtual mirror It doesn't show on my screen and im definitely missing it
Default button is „3“
Radicals are great fun! I got silver took me 12 races
Just got to silver safety rating after ten races, Think I got lucky but have to say the racing has been clean so far
hopefully you get to silver soon. I haven't touched the bronze events since, it's a completely different experience.
how do you decide your fuel? the rookie series is fixed no?
Yes it's fixed but I just take a guess at how many laps I think it'll go based on the lap times and race time. I probably over fuel every time 😁

When is this going to get out of Beta?
When it will be ready 😊 but for a beta it’s work very well for me
Im asking only why they needed an eternity to make this step.
