    Watched the video, compared prices in different shops for different models. Bought it. Thanks for the review. Shipping to Michigan was $58. Bringing the total to $557. The company sent me an email to confirm it was in stock, another when they handed the box to FedEx. It hasn't arrived yet (two days, no surprise) but so far I'm impressed with how the company is responsive. Let's hope I really like the hotas.
    EDIT: UPDATE. I have to date received partial Shipment. Winwing sends this system out in four separate packages, all in separate boxes. I received the 2 parts of the Hotas first. I love it. I received the Stick grip next. I like it...or I would, if I could use it. Fedex lost the Base tha makes it work. It's 6 days late, Fedex can't find it. Needless to say, I can't use the system without the base. Shipping it in 4 separate shipments isn't great. I've contacted both Winwing and Fedex, they' both "Looking into it." And I still don't have a working Joystick. I like the quality of the product. I don't like 4 separate packages, one of which got lost. I update this if Fedex finds it or Winwing sends me another. I hope to one day be able to fly this system...

    This looks promising! I've wanted to upgrade my throttle, but I've been interested in something a little more "real world" than some of the self-created throttles from other companies. Hopefully whenever they get around to making their F-16 throttle they'll send you one of those too!
    Edit: Just got to the F-16 part, and didn't even realize it's the same base. That just made this way more tempting!

      That F-16 grip looks great, love that they're trying out the full rotation detent mechanism. Though it'll be too tall for desktop use.

      @@RedKiteRender Yeah, I've been looking at getting a desktop mount for my throttle too. I grabbed this for my Warthog joystick, and for the price I've been really pleased with it. Ok. Now WinWing has my interest with the F-16 throttle grip and swappability (assuming the cord actually lasts).

Honestly considering taking some of my optional 4000 level courses in electrical engineering that may help me learn how to repair and modify these hotas’s. • @Headbreaker
      @Headbreaker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe as nice feedback to this point, I have one of the first Super Libre and the first batches had a little flaw with the small 5-way-switch, used in place of the Recce-Button. The small Hat itself, got lose and I can't find it anymore, winwing offerd me to ship a new hat with some tips to fix it or a replacement switch they used in later versions. The new switch need a bit of sanding but is way more resistant. I don't asked for replacement of the stick because that's usually a bit messy with German customs. So I'm not sure how good they are at this point.
      But I received the customer-support emails ins just a few hours and there was no discussion or something like that.
      Also, I have to admit I used the little switch for zooming, so you can image the workload of that tiny switch, I'm sure if I would find the head it would be just a matter of good glue and nobody would see it ever was missing.
      Dont get me wrong that should not happen, but I mean I have my setup now for about 10 Months and fly around 15 - 25 hours the week, sooo it has some miles on the clock :D

      @@Headbreaker intersting comment. nice to have feedback, but if you are not techsavvy, replaing yourself a part for a several hundreds dollars product can be tricky. All these companies are putting products produced in small quantities...feels like they sell prototypes

    • @Headbreaker
      @Headbreaker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aquamich129 well I know what you mean but to be honest a switch can allways break, I mean I had two Warthog Throttles with a broken boatswitch so Im not that disappointed and sure because I ordert them from Amazon the replacment was fast but I usualy RMA are not that fast at all.
      Prototype is a bit harsh in my opinion, the workmanship ist really good and the switch is a buy-in Part so I thibk its is a good sign the replaced it in later Batches because they heard the Feedback. I cant say for sure but Im pretty sure if IT is not possible for you to switch that, a replacement for the Stick is the way to go but as I said for me its more easy to replace it myself. But thats just my impressions.
      I can understand your apprehension but keep in mind WinWing builds buissness Level Simulators as well so they net New in the buissness at all.

    It looks great and I have ordered it but I am concerned as my desk has a large mouse pad mat that covers the entire desk and that will probably cause problems with the suction cups. • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Libra is better for extensions as it features dry cluches to prevent wobble. However the Libra is not compatible with Warthog compatible mounting solutions, and their own mount isn't that great. The Orion can use extensions, however it's not ideal, the base has no dry clutches, therefore it'll wobble a little, and without customisable spring strength it may feel a little light with the extra leverage, will that bother you? i couldn't say.

    This seems really competitive at $499, how well would you say this setup would do in the a-10c modules? I also plan to fly some rotary like the AH-64 when it comes out paired with the k-51 collective, so if you have flown with this stick in any helicopters or the A-10 in DCS id like to know your thoughts . Thinking about getting one of these or a TM Warthog setup, or just saving up for a virpil setup

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally the Orion joystick base’s springs are a little heavy for my tastes, and they didn’t offer any alternative strengths. Whilst virpil will give you a selection of springs and cams so you can customise the feel. My daily flyer is the warbrd base + tm warthog a-10c. Both are great, but that customisation is why i use the warbrd. You can probably buy springs to fit the Orion that said.

      They're compatible, but, the Orion base is not well suited to an extension. A small extension like the twist grip should be just fine, but a longer one will make the stick wobble as it lacks a dampening clutch, and of course will require a desk mount.
      The Libra on the otherhand is built to handle extensions.
      Unfortunately I was unable to test that, so i'm basing it on my experiences extending a WarBRD base.

      The Taurus does make it easier to do fine corrections, and it's motion is really nice. But, I wouldn't say it's game a changing advantage. The startup panel attached to it is fun. Only real issue I have with the Taurus is the lack of extra axis for things like camera zoom.
      The Orion is much more accessible and easier to 'live with' than the Taurus, which is heavy and big, making setup a hassle. Orion is probably the better option unless you plan on building a more permanent setup attached to a desk.

I plan to do a custom mount for my chair that i can just mount whenever i want to play, and felt the taurus is too big for this set-up, but at the same time i don't want to miss out on better performance... But if they have the same sensor then maybe with the f18 handle ( or a slight mod ) the curve lenght might get bigger and it will get higher precision. But thanks for the info! Really appreciate it! Generally any USB flight sim controller will work with any flight sim game, be it civil or combat. If you ever think you might branch into combat sims after doing civil, you might want to buy something like this, so you're future proofed. Just note that a lot of high end joysticks lack a 'twist' for the rudder, whilst budget ones will have a twist. Without a twist you'll want to buy a set of rudder pedals to go with it to compensate, dedicated rudder pedals are much more accurate., esp for helicopters.

    The suction cup desktop solution is really unforgivable and the single worst solution I have ever seen for a desktop flight stick regardless of price point. To have it happen on a $500 set just shows that WINWING is not ready for the bigtime and is running far, far, far behind VIRPIL and VKB. I have one and unless you have a perfectly smooth, preferably glossy surface, it WILL some unstuck very quickly when rolling or pitching to full deflection. The trigger is also total crap with a loud and poor feeling spring inside and grinds and make that classic cheap spring sound. It sounds like a kid's toy for the dollar store. The throttle is IMO the best on the desktop market at any price, and the stick base internals are very good, but WINWING really screwed the pooch with the suction cup base. It's enough that if you don't have a super smooth glass or glossy desk or a good mounting solution, you could seriously reconsider purchasing until they either fix this literally INDUSTRY WORST desktop baseplate OR allow you to buy the throttle separately.
