    Review Update, living with it since; I've noticed a trend of the foot pedals to slowly become loose, requiring re-tightening every once in a while. A result of the forces required pushing the pedals outwards on their mount. A minor inconvenience.

      to fix the slipping thingy i will recommend what i did, cut 5 pieces of Yoga mat, those that are super sticky to the ground, and glue them on the edges and the center, the focused point of contact and rubbery surface will make it very hard to slip

    Really fair review. As has been said by others, the damper slop isn't really an issue unique to Winwing. My MFG damper has a couple of millimetres of play around centre which I found distracting enough to remove the damper, because it would prevent a return to the true centre.
    Regarding mounting, I ended up purchasing a sheet of MDF and then drilling the bolt pattern. The far end is against the skirting board and the pedals do not move at all. It isn't pretty, but it works really well.

    velcro strips taped to the bottom of rudders will usually grab to carpet, preventing movement.

      This. Did the same on my MFG and they've been staying in place ever since.

      Mines close enough to the wall to just brace it, but certainly a good idea for more open setups.
      Personally i'd like to see an 'out the box' solution with products though. I mean, they gave it a go with the mat, but it didn't work out for me! The hope is the manufacturer has figured out these things and given a clean solution.

      @@RedKiteRender yeah, I agree. I wonder if that slip mat would work on a hardwood/ lvt type floor. my thought would be about the same reaction.
      Feel like these high end rudder pedals are 50/50 added to sim pits, where they are mechanically fastened. I have the TPR's and had to figure out a solution. the velcro will do for now.

    Cut tennis balls in half and place them under your chair wheels. You won´t slip away anymore, especially on carpet. Cheap and effective mod for swivel chairs ;)

    The damper kit that they used here is pretty much one of those generic motorcycle steering dampers that you can find online for $30. The issues you described exist on those 'identical' ones too(Including MFG's). I wish sim gear companies would come up with their own damper design, so that we can end these ''common flaws' once and for all.

    • @RedKiteRender

      Shame to hear that, makes me wonder how much more, it would cost to get a smoother damper.

    • @dannygaron
      @dannygaron 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup, the damper is the same exact one as my Simagic damper on my gas pedal. If I had known, I'd had just bought a damper myself and saved some bucks.

    • @RedKiteRender
      @RedKiteRender  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I found it even, it's just that transitional couple degrees of motion when going from forward to backward or bacck again, before the damper mechanically engages again.

    With my metal-version Saitek Pro Flights, I also had slippage issues, albeit on laminate flooring despite rubber feet and a mat, so I just popped to the shops and got some velcro tape. That worked a treat with just a tiny bit of loose play, so I ordered 3M Dual Lock and now it's rock solid.
    On carpet I'd bet heavy-duty velcro taped to the bottom of the pedals could do it.

    1:45 Ditched the non-slip mat, Velcroe on the front legs (I have a wood floor) - problem solved. These are my 2nd pedals, bought the WW rudders and damper on the strength of my satisfaction for their F18 HOTAS, upgraded from the Saiteks and would ab so lutely recommend the Skywalkers

      WinWings quality has always been ok-ish at best. They do have nice products, especially the replica stuff, but their QA is horrible. I do own 2 WinWing products (The Super Taurus Hornet Throttle and the F-15EX throttle grips) and both arrived faulty. On the Hornet Throttle grips, the TDC slew axis was giving permanent input around the center from the beginning and on the F-15EX grips, one axis doesen´t work at all. WinWing customer-service is questionable at best, didn´t help me out at all and i have to live with my faulty units. Never had such issues with my Virpil, Realsimulator, VKB and Slaw Device peripherals.

    In 06.02 min you are mentioned about stickness... So it's a very, very, very cheap dampers. Proper, the same looking motorcycle dampers costs about 350-600 us dollars. Of course you can modified them by removing all washers and o-rings and replacing oil for low viscosity Öhlins number 5.
    Watch my videos with modded dampers. Another thing is totally failed mount place of dampers. They suppose to be mount as much as possible to the right front - to make shaft travel as long as possible.
    WW have a long journey to go in terms of ergonomics.

    I've remedied issues with pedals sliding away or my chair pushing back by using two short lengths of paracord to tether the base of my pedals to the bottom of the legs of the chair I'm sitting in. Far from ideal but it'll work quite well in a pinch.

  • @Maceoneone

    They are very good but be warned bcos i like to fly helis with high damping meaning that i put a lot of force on them. This made the anti slip stickers fall off after 2 days of use and now they are sliding. Also the spring is very stiff and amplified by the no grip issues i had to tune it in dcs because i cant reach the end of the axis without the rudders sliding away. That only applies to fixed wing tho. Overall 7.5/10

    I positioned my chair to have one of the feet centered on the mat in front of the pedals and it has helped stop the slipping. However my 210 pound lardass sitting in the chair also helps. 😂 I use a chair with the same pattern and wheels you showed in video, it feels fine, just takes a little getting used to having the pedals in a bit close to the seat.

    Never use pedals on a swivel chair, and mount them or support them against the wall if needed 😂
    I bought these earlier this year. The rear aluminum support spacer had a manufacturing defect and the hole or its thread was not drilled deep enough. I contacted Winwing support and it felt there was a language barrier as they kept asking questions I had already answered and posted a video about; I also didn't feel like taking the unit apart just to take measurements when I had already fixed the issue myself - I ended up shortening the upwards-pointing screw by adding a nut inside the case, as I had some lying around.
    Apart from the aforementioned issue, the quality feels similar to MFG Crosswinds. Centering force is very light in comparison and not to my taste. The pedals are a bit wider and way more comfortable when sitting upright. Metal footrests are not cold to touch even when playing barefooted. Also, while the quick release spring is relatively easy to access, it requires a ton of force to pull and I personally preferred Milan's approach that had a weaker spring but a steeper cam. Toe brakes are good and keeping the aircraft centered in the landing roll is very easy.
    Overall, a solid product in its price range. I'd still prefer my old MFG Crosswinds if the footrests were more comfortable.

      @BeetjeVreemd 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi.
      Do you mean that the centering force is much lower on the WinWing pedals, and the MFG has stronger centering force?
      For helicopter flying less centering force is better right?

    Im interested in the Winwing rudder pedals, but are there other makers that also have this spring/spring-less all-in-one option? mainly because I fly jets and helos, I wanna check the other alternatives before committing to Winwing. Im also going to be placing it against a wall and am not sure if the full travel distances goes beyond the base of the pedals and eventually hit the wall.

    • @ReflectedSimulations
      @ReflectedSimulations 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does unless you limit the travel. I solved it by placing a piece of wood between the wall and the pedals, and they can freely move over it.

    Judging by the unrealistic way of travel, the TM TPR rudders are still the go-to for realistic rudders.

    • @petlemons
      @petlemons 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're issue with the realism of flight sim rudders is the travel path of the pedals, that's pretty good. I find it pretty easy to suspend disbelief when none of my flight controls have any feedback. Additionally, not all rudder pedals have linkage from above. F/A-18 rudders move on a horizontal channel, so your TPR rudders are not realistic for that airframe. Long story short, you aren't being realistic regardless of which set you use.

Nothing more disappointing than opening your shiny new gear only to find you've gotta wait a day or two before you can use it to facilitate a fix.
