@@alexparris7769 Honestly, I would take that over trying to take part in a restock event in hopes of placing an order only to have to wait for the next one. Even if it meant waiting half a year or more to receive my items.
Order now and when Star Citizen comes out they will be brand new and fresh off backorder :)
If you're really interested, ask Virpil to send you an email when the stick you want is in stock. I got a heads up when the VKB I wanted was available and I ordered it with no money up front. it's the best joystick I've ever owned. A few months is a gut check to see if you really want to spend that kind of cash on a joystick haha! Seriously, there's nothing good about waiting so long, but at least they'll let you know when it's available. I wouldn't put money down on a joystick when they don't have any in stock. Who knows when you'll get it?
@@tristanelliott4106 Wrong answer! If they don't have it now, who knows when he'll finally get one? He should ask Virpil to send him and email when it's in stock. Then he can decide if he wants to lay his money down. I did this with VKB, and I got one without any money up front.
Analog stick, mouse wheel, optional twist axis and multi stage triggers all on one stick. Glad I waited for this one.

Man, those are simply gorgeous sticks! As you said, insanity. And here I am slumming it with a paltry TM Warthog HOTAS system. One day, _one_ _day_ , a pair of Alphas will be mine as well!

LOL I wouldn't be surprised. I love their stuff. IIt's been SOOOO many years since I've seen excellent quality equipment. Warthog not withstanding. Blackhog has some good panels right now too. Between those and the ones Virpil will be putting out, that'll finish out my pit.
I've gone through two Logitech G600s over the years. Having three primary buttons is amazing, plus I had about a dozen Firefox shortcuts on the numpad.
The only reason I don't use one for gaming is they haven't updated the sensor in a long time, and I'd probably want it to go wireless as well now that they've eliminated the wireless latency problem.
@@budthecyborg4575 Same here with the G600. I'll probably end up buying one more just in case. It doesn't seem like anyone is going to make a true three-button mouse. And I find myself using at least six thumb buttons on a daily basis.
Mouse is not very mechanical controller. Not really VIRPIL's profile. And unlike for joysticks, there lots of good mices out there, including some very expensive and highly configurable, like Roccat Nyth
They better have a "sniper button" that lowers sensitivity if they do.

I now have VPC Constellation ALPHA-L, VPC Constellation ALPHA-R, VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle, VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle - TMW Throttle Mounting Adapter, and 2x 50mm, 75mm, 100mm and 200mm extensions. Virpil stuff is great! Button boxes next and Slaw device pedals are on the way to round out my set up. Thanks for the great NO BS video's.

I'm looking for sticks for star citizen and the first place I came is this channel. You've had quite a few setups over the years and still trying to decide between hotas and dual stick. I'm missing fingers on my left hand which is leaning me toward a hotas setup for star citizen but still not sure because the video makes it seem that dual might be easier to control. I'm going to watch every single video you have to try and find a setup that works best for me. Yes, the newer ones are nice but some of your older reviews might help fit my situation better so watching older videos is immensely helpful, even today. Thank you for making such high quality videos.
I can help because the game company had changed how inputs worked over the years. You need to run dual sticks, it’s the only way to get the most control over ships in the current patch.

@@hughgrection7246 Yea I got my double 16000 today. Luckily I was able to find a trader who hadn't charged twice or thrice the price and had a smol stock left. I'm fiddling around with them right now, trying to get an idea what I actually want long term (haven't used a stick for ages). So far the alphas look really good and virpils throttle as well. Also need to figure out which way to mount that stuff best.. so many options and the price just keeps raising lol
@@orangeblack1285 For mounting options check out monster mounts, they make excellent chair and desk mounts and they're super reasonable price wise.
@@orangeblack1285 One thing to be aware of is that the potentiometer on the T16000s, may drive you bonkers after a few months.
Binding 22 should be a deeper push of the Mouse Wheel encoder, as it's listed on the Alpha Sale page that it has a mouse wheel encoder with dual push.

@@NOOBIFIER1337 it's possible the Alphas they shipped your were missing it, as they're pre-production, but another creator I follow confirmed that there is a second push input on the mouse wheel.

I REALLY hope someone makes an aluminum version of something like this. The cool cold solid feel of the Thrustmaster Warthog is wonderful and the finish doesn't wear as much as paint on plastic. I would pay a premium for dual metal grips designed for space sims.
Don't know why everyone wants metal. Aside from military hardware (mainly cause I have no experience with it) aircraft arnt made with metal controls a more authentic experience is with polymer products
I'd love to see your SC keybinding setup for these at some point.
At this point the keybinds are so intimidating I might just copy his exact button mapping.

Thank you for all of your videos. I really appreciate it very much. Question: Setting up the Constellation Delta sticks, do you know of a way to have the thumb wheels set the speed limiter and thrust limiter? I can get it to work using VPC Joystick Setup, but the limits move in TINY increments. I need it to go quickly up and down. Thanks in advance - Michael
I recommend setting the adjustment to one of the hats if you need to go up and down quickly. Depending on the game but if you are playing SC it should work. You could also use third party softwares to bind both hat and wheel for hold-to-adjust or fine increments respectively. If you set up modifier keys you are basically doubling/tripling the amount of inputs you have.

Sweet! I love Virpil and VKB. Virpil wasn't available when VKB was, so I went with the latter. VKB Gladiator and Kosmosima are far superior to the Thrustmaster Cougar in my estimation, since I've owned all three sticks. I'm a huge booster of VKB because I'm so impressed with the performance of the Kosmosima and Gladiator joysticks. My latest joystick: the Kosmosima, happened to be in stock last year, so that is my main squeeze right now. The Gladiator is looking for a new home, or it will continue on as a backup. My Thrustmaster Cougar found its way into a dumpster during my last move. If anybody has any questions on my VKB's I'll be happy to help you out. I use the Kosmosima for DCS, IL2 Sturmovik, Elite Dangerous and Descent 2!
I have a pair of these on preorder I can’t wait for the release, they look awesome. My biggest problem now will be working out the bindings that suit me. So many to choose from. 😄

Rick Whelan No the preorder finished in December. Now you will have to keep an eye on the Virpil website for when they restock. It’s a bit of a nightmare getting hold of the popular sticks as the sell out really fast.

I know this video is old but the button you mentioned was left blank is a second button when you push on the mouse wheel.
I have dual deltas now. I love them. but I am very seriously considering getting at least one alpha when they are available without pre order. again, like everyone else. thanks for the information.
So glad I pre-ordered these when I did. I took a chance based off your previous reviews of virpil stuff and when I looked at the design it seemed to address all the issues (issues being things I didn't like, not actual problems) that stopped me from buying the old space grip. I do hope you do a bindings video or something as that would be interesting. Now to get back to saving so I can get some Monstertech mounts..
I have been looking forward to getting a set of alphas since they were announced. Still rocking dual T16000m’s, I am more than ready for my long awaited upgrade.
Free Spirit, the T16000m is hands down the best budget joysticks you will find anywhere, my only complaint with them is the lack of buttons to bind to, on the sticks themselves. Something Virpil’s new “Alphas” have in abundance, and while I haven’t gotten a chance to put my hands on them myself yet. All the buttons look like they are easy to access and function with minimal movement of your hands.
I love the insanity. Can't wait until I get my pair! Thanks again to my wife.

This looks really interesting. It's great that the z-axis is lockable as I have no interest in it personally, but it's there for those who want it.
Now I just need to deal with the thread lock that they felt was a good idea to put in the Mongoose bases on the cam screws for something that was supposed to be replaceable. To this day I do not know what they were thinking. I believe the newer bases have done away with that. The joys of being an early adopter ;).
This felt negative. Minor gripes on otherwise superb products.

I’ve been looking forward to this review, and it didn’t disappoint.
Two sticks to rule them all, damn these are some next level pieces of equipment. I'm not sure how they could improve on this design in terms of altering the layout.
You forgot to mention that you can also assign up to 6 shift modes via VIRPIL software. Which practically gives you 6 times as many bindings (minus 6X 2 for switching shift modes forward and back). Theoretically you can bind entire keyboard to a single alpha grip :)

Question: did you try using the 2 thumb sticks on the joysticks for FPS gameplay on SC? If yes, was it comfortable? I like to use joypads when doing fps gameplay, so that would be perfect, I would never need to remove my hands from the grips when switching from ship to fps.

@@NOOBIFIER1337 I currently use a hybrid setup, keypad with thumbstick on the left hand for player movement and mouse on the right hand for aiming. I think this would also work well with the Alpha Joysticks
6:14 22 isn't blank but the 2nd stage push of the mouse wheel.
A second mouswheel push! They really didn't scimp on inputs!
Dam an analog thumb stick instead of a dpad for the hat. That is actually pretty cool as long as you can get the bindings correctly when you do need to use it as a more traditional hat.
Also doing this thing has so many wheels and knobs and stuff there's hardly any regular buttons on it. I'm only used to whatever I see that would come into the thrift store I used to work at.

Have 2 Deltas and pre-ordered two Alphas... The Alphas look so much better IMHO. Now SC has to get some good gameplay so I can use them. I might have to break down and play some other flight game.

Even if i am not a person who flies a lot of spaceships and planes and preffers bulky heavy tanks instead i would buy that pair of joysticks that you have only because is has a lot of buttons and joysticks on it, i often run out of keys for the bindings in war thunder, mechwarrior online and other games, and not allways can use the key for push to talk or is not available or is already bound to another ingame action, and i dont know how do play station/xbox and other plataform players play war thunder, mechwarrior online and other games with lots of bindings with those double joystick controlls

Another fantastic review, If I had one bit of feedback I would say what size glove you are, it's a better indication to people then saying normal size.

Hey Noobs on Fire. Nice vids, you got me, I’m subscribed. I’m an older guy, haven’t been at this long, the only space game I have played is Squadrons Elite Dangerous. I used a very cheap Hotas style setup which I thought worked great. Why is it that you use two joysticks rather than stick/throttle. Also, do you use rudder pedals or stick rotation for yaw?
Really interested in your answer, it will help me a lot as I’m getting more into it and getting some better gear and better setup.
I haven’t played Space Citizen yet, but I undoubtedly will as it looks like my kind of thing. I will play Squadrons a lot more too, and MSFS, DCS, F1 etc.. cheers 🍻

I’m really not sure about these due to quality control issues. I have read forum threads about build quality on units which were not ‘review product’ and am hesitant to chose virpil because of it. The sample size maybe small and and defective units might be quite rare -> but at £400 nearly I cannot be dealing with faulty product.

Nice review. I've been thinking of getting an Alpha, but my main focus is aviation. I recently got Warbird base matched to the VFX. I've had the setup for about 10 days and haven't had much time to play around w/ the gear other than pulling it from the shipping box and checking out the fit & finish.
What I would like to see from Noobifer is a reasonable way to program all the buttons afforded by these grips. I'm not just talking about calibration, but what programming software you use, eg. Joystick Gremlin. I find it rather amazing that Virpil doesn't offer any slick programming options like the old CH Products or Thrustmaster software. Am I missing out on something from Virpil in terms of programming? Do you use the in game key bindings to program the stick?
A video concerning programming would be great!!!

Thx for all your informative and entertaining content Noobifier! I am deciding between Virpil Constellation Alpha and the VKB Kosmosima. At the moment im a bit intimidated by negative input on Virpils QC and customer support thus leaning towards VKB Kosmosima. Any thoughts? Still happy with your Alphas? Is Monstertech the goto for mounts or are the virpil mounts ok?
I would say that both have great and horror stories associated with their Customer support and products if you dig far enough. The Alphas are my daily drivers and I basically have a choice of all in my set. Monstertech mounts are more expensive and more solid, a bit more adjustable and modular, but the VPC ones are cost effective. It really comes down to your budget. Either are good.

Love your reviews! These look so cool, I was between these and the VKB Kosmosima but ultimately the VKB grips have dry clutches that can be tightened. Combine that with removing the Y axis spring on the left stick and you have yourself a throttlestick... PERFECT for space sims... its the best of both worlds... why have HOTAS OR HOSAS when you can have both.
I could never do that. I need it to automatically spring to zero. I tested what you are talking about and ended up with a crime stat all the time for ramming. .
@@NOOBIFIER1337 LOL Well that sucks! TBH I have yet to try it in SC I may come to the same conclusion, I will let you know! Been playing ED with it that way and have had no problem I also assigned 0,20%,75%,100% Thottle as well as "forward and reverse" on the thumb hat. also my throttle is set as 0%-100% instead of -100 and +100 with zero being in the middle. BUT ED is a much simpler game... something to do while I wait for SC!
@@NOOBIFIER1337 Have to give an update... the stick configured like that is only good for super cruise in ED. For mining and fighting I ended up mapping to the analog thumb stick.
Some of us are too broke to afford such nice equipment.. My G13 is on its last leg and this looks like one of the few things that could ever come close to replacing it. Maybe they will do so well in the market place I'll be able to pick me up a hand me down on e-bay one day.
