So is vrchat fucked? Is the end truly near? Was this a game really to connect people before it became the game of pedophilia and greed? Will tupper ever fix the game? We my never know!!

Reading the article and seeing that they literally didn't think they needed a management structure actually upset me. Like... the hell did they think was going to happen?

Well this explains to me why it felt like VRChat's updates and improvements were going kinda slow. Sounds like they just had a bunch of people putting in content without a larger overarching plan. Can't believe they grew from 30 to 140 without focusing on more management.

Wild, right?!? “We didn’t see the need for management” from a multimillion dollar company feels so small minded and they’re paying the piper now.

"continued growth despite market conditions" that right there is just investor hopes and dreams. not that I ever had a dog in the fight for VRchat but this just makes sure I will never invest my time in the platform. this is just the same thing that xbox did. They are saying whatever human-like mouth sounds they think will get them past this current crisis, it's not a long term plan unless you think "long term" is the current or at best next quarter. lest see what they say next time.
when has more middle management ever solved bloating problems?
jfc how many times was "success" used there?
this is like a bullet points list of generic McKinsey platitudes and biz speak.

Yeah that's why I read the excerpt from qdot. Provide a 3rd party person on the money side of it.

All these corpo statements are long while not saying a whole lot. I appreciate the compensation package at least. As always, it comes down to money.

Hard to hear about cut backs in any industry. 😢

It’s the worse. It’s also sad to see this get no attention in the VR creator community. 😕
I think it’s important to see the business (and human) side of gaming too, not just games coverage.

Dude... VR chat is one of the most problematic VR games in the industry. It is like social media on super crack, they NEED to find a way to regulate things and that requires real people. AI in no way will be able to take over their jobs and if they try it is very likely it will backfire and make the problems worse. I already didn't like the image VR chat brings to VR in general, but it just seems this will inevitably make things worse. There are plenty of things that are fine that go on in VR chat ....... but a lot bad things that happen with little to no supervision or enforced regulation are prison time level stuff.

Yeah, I remember hearing about how bad the moderation was around VRChat 5+ years ago before they scaled up and that didn't seem to be remarkably better as they added people, so I don't know if that gets better. I keep my daughter out of that app.

ai is already in the game. when you find an avatar with a question mark next to its icon, its because they implemented an ai to clean out all the 'bad avatars' it finds in the database. so even though people think they're enjoying the same game, the ai is slowly tearing away at all the archived history in the game.
