If you're feeling afraid or stressed out, try getting your head out of the future and into the now. When I do that, I realize I have a home, I have food in the refrigerator, I have electricity, I have a warm bed. I have literally everything I need and I am more safe and comfortable than 99.9% of humans that have ever existed. Ruining my present over a future that doesn't even exist would be pure insanity.

Start meditating everyone. 🙏🏼 Don’t worry you aren’t doing it properly just sit still and breathe, focus on breath, or a ticking clock or mellow music or Dr Joes soothing voice 😜 Even 15 mins a day will break the stress response. Laugh every day! Put on a comedy movie or a sitcom and laugh! To release negativity. We are the only creatures that can laugh for a reason. Because humans unlike other animals don’t live in the present they live in the past and future. Laughter is the best medicine. In You Are The Placebo there is a story of a man who laughed his way to health. We are all divinely protected when we are in the same frequency as source but we must trust the higher frequencies and that love and joy heals and protects 🧡

Meditation is great and vital even, although there's much internal processes that need to be aligned too. You have to stop avoiding negative feelings. I don't mean that you should encourage yourself to have them or keep sustaining them, but don't escape from them. They will always come back if you supress them, and they have been waiting for years to be processed. Meditation helps with this, but you need to learn to accept the present moment as well, even when not meditating. Sometimes people focus too much on keeping positive, and when negative emotions show up, they think something has gone wrong, no no no. Meditation can bring a lot of anxiety and "negative" emotions into your awareness, it lifts up unconscious patterns, reveals self-destructive habits and thoughts etc. Those need to arise, just let them be, let them go don't be afraid. If you are just running away from those states of being with drugs, alcohol, entertainment, whatever right, they will not be completely seen. It's natural to evade those states and emotions because humans want to feel good, of course they do, but pushing those energies away when they come up just pushes them back for a moment. Just my view and experience, if someone thinks I'm wrong--off track, then please comment so I can get another point of view :) (btw I meditate 2x 30mins every day, and it is very amazing what it does to your awareness, still I experience the stress response from time to time, as I have a chronic illness which I think is on the way to healing :) )

except when you're unconsciously living in sympathetic dominance, like most people with Auto Immune Diseases. They don't even know they're living in fight/flight/freeze since they've been living there their whole lives, so they have no distinction for safety and ease. They THINK they are feeling safe, when there's an underlying unsafety going on. They can also feel real love and gratitude... but then their NS (nervous system) unconsciously snaps back to sympathetic dominance. Most people can't stay in gratitude all the time - wouldn't it be nice if we could?!

@@jfdc8432 Sphynx you just brought me to tears... that was so well said. Thank you! At 33 I was running a company & half marathons. Then I was diagnosed with MS. Over the last 11 years I have spent my life savings painstakingly trying every FDA approved medicine to slow down the progression of the disease. My body was allergic to or could not tolerate any of them. In fact every treatment made me worse. I now struggle to use a walker. I'm out of options and at a loss as to what I can do next. But I refuse to give up. I'm a single mom with a brilliant & beautiful 17yr old daughter who I need to be here for. Not just here, but be an active part of her life. And to actually gain my life back without experiencing constant struggle. Long ago I made the conscious decision to look at these obstacles as stepping stones rather than stumbling blocks. To walk by faith not by sight. Even though I try to remain in gratitude, I know there is underlying trama and fear still present that wants to take over the show... If I was ever granted 3 wishes 🧞‍♀️I would give up my other 2 if I could only shrink myself to the size of a fairy🧚‍♀️ & hide in Dr Joe's pocket, acting like a sponge until I finally got it. Then I would not only be able to participate in life again, I would rock it out! 💃🕺🏃‍♀️🧘‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤗

@@mamajama3dogs You've been through a lot. Thank goodness you found Dr.Joe. Hang in there, keep meditating and go deep within to find a place of safety and peace deep inside yourself. From that will come more positive feelings and the fight/flight sympathetic dominance will diminish. When you notice you're getting tight, that means sympathetic dominance is creeping back in. At that time, refocus your attention to the deep sense of safety, peace, love and gratitude inside yourself. You're training yourself to live more in love and less in fight/flight/freeze - You're doing great!

Today I did Dr. Joe’s generous present moment meditation, than the box meditation & later his walking meditation. Felt joyful, abundant, love, & peace. I’m doing way more of the meditations now. For 2 1/2 years I did 2+ everyday, maybe a 3rd if I had time. But now I’m doing 4/5 day even 6 sometimes, whilst rereading his books, listening to lectures in between. They help immensely, out of all the things I have overcome is fear, it has been my biggest thing (because I had it since childhood, it’ll take a while to unfire and unwire those neural synaptic connects to make new ones). Thank you for your work, words, and wisdom. 💜

Shane Ashby Practice gratitude for 10 minutes thrice a day. It helps in strengthening bodies innate ability to fight infections and foreign agents. It helps releasing immunoglobulin (ig) that is antibodies. Dr. Joe has mentioned and recommended in many of his interviews for this.
Keep trading your survival emotions- anger, frustration, impatience, resentment, fear for love, gratitude, feeling of oneness, compassion, joy etc.
Try to maintain these emotions, we all fail many times so try to shorten the duration in which your fell into the trap of survival emotions. Dr. Joe has recommended the same.
      Keep practicing. Keep reinventing yourself.
      Best wishes :-)

@@shaneashby5890 Hi Shane, I would recommend reading any of his books or watching any of his videos online. His interview on impact theory is the most watched and is full of helpful tips. The main thing is to watch your thoughts. Every negative thought you have be aware of it, and mentally say "no" I will not allow that thought anymore. Writing down 10 thoughts you don't want to have "this always happens to me", "I'm unlucky", "I'm always sick", "I am not enough" and writing 10 thoughts to replace it "i'm happy" "i'm healthy". The more you watch him on youtube the better you will start to understand what he says is practical, logical and scientifically sound. Hope that helped!

Very true. Following on from this, repressing/ suppressing our challenging emotions puts the nervous system into high alert, the emotions don't go anywhere , they back up and the ns perceives them to be a threat floods the body with inflamatory chemicals etc. Hence the countless chronic condition prevalent today.

I have led a life of expecting fear to be the dominant force in any interaction. With great effort I have been able to calm that incorrect perception. Yet when overwhelmed, fear takes center stage again, and I become trapped, not in action, but in inaction. It paralyzes my logic, my sense of possibilities, my will to go on.

The universe and the human organism are one unitary movement. We are not separate from the nature. What we call ourselves (our self image, the illusion) is the only thing that separates us. So if nature wants to reshuffle and optimize itself it will do. It doesn’t see any difference between you or a mosquito. To it, there is no thing as death. We think we are in trouble because our entire society and economy is based on us being separate from nature. We can try all we want, we can never understand it’s motive because nature functions outside of our thought system so obviously thought can never touch it.

How can I heal my autonomic nervous system dysfunction?? I've been suffering for 31 years. Everything is out of whack and I am unable to so most things because my heart keeps overcompensating for my low blood pressure. I need help. I am desperate...

Amy do you have anxiety? If you do, no amount of meditation or mindfulness will heal it. Anxiety is disordered fear response and alters the entirety of your neurology and physiology. Please do not be led into the belief that changing your thoughts or breathing will fix it. Look into The Linden Method and restore emotional balance.

The title of this video is misleading. I watched because I thought you were going to tell me how to balance the NS but instead you just gave a basic explanation of the SNS & PSNS.

  • @xiscanicolas6009
    @xiscanicolas6009 ปีที่แล้ว

Deceiving because not really true. He talks about the sympathetic during threat and parasympathetic during security...
(I am fed up with sympathetic being reduced to fight and flight, and opposed to a rest and digest state)
Inhaling is sympathetically dominant while exhale is para-sympathetically dominant. The 2 phases of the heart beats also alternate, same as all muscles.
Please understand the ordinary functioning of the ANS before concluding about how it functions during high threats!
Parasympathetic is our fight and flight system too, but towards microbes. And joy and enthusiasm include a lot of sympathetic, but in a secure place and moment!
And freeze is when both branches are activated during a threat. Memories of threats also trigger freeze or any response our physiology finds the most adequate.
