Morello's tricks have been decoded now, but when I saw them at Lollapalooza in Atlanta in 93 when they first came on the scene my jaw hit the floor. I remember tapping the shoulder in front of me and saying, "Man, do you have any idea how he's making those sounds?". It was absolutely mesmerizing! Tool followed them and Danny Carrey played on a riser BACKWARDS so you could see everything he did. The show had nowhere to go but down after that. BY FAR the most impactful sets from openers out of 100's of concerts I've been to.
@@murdmark Remember the announcement at the beginning? Local radio jock or promoter came out to announce the show and called out some dude all the way up on the back wall to come down because he was getting a front row seat. Dude must have been high a/f because he just stood there and didn't react at all. "OK man, if you want the seat it's yours....from Los Angeles here's RATM!"
Dejavu Man, you are taking me back. I was 16 years old at Lollapalooza '93 Orlando. Rage, tool, Fishbone, Front 242, Alice In Chains ( with Layne Staley) and to top it off Primus. Still the best concert I ever attended!!! There were many more bands but those were the memorable ones
This is one of the best songs from the RATM album, and that's saying something, since that album is a masterpiece. Awesome video, just like the rest I've seen so far in your channel.
Hello from Texas! You are an awesome help sir. Thank you so much for the amazing job you do. It comes easy on this channel! Take care brother and be safe
@@LetsPlayAll Well based on the staggeringly awesome quivver of axes you have already, I imagine you have the means to ontain one, and a damn fine one to boot.
@@LetsPlayAll Fo sure. Yeh i know what you mean. I'm taking this weekend off as burning out! Glad to see your channel doing really well. Thoroughly deserved!
Thanks
Thanks for the Super Thanks Craig - much appreciated!

Haha man I bet!! Mind truly blown!! What a show that must have been. He’s a genius for sure and an absolute rock riff machine 😀🤘
He’s not a guitarist he’s a dj 🤣
Wow. I saw that show in ATL and those RATM/Tool moments are burned into my brain.

Great Class... Amazing how Tom Morello's riffs manage to be relatively simple, but with so much power ! long live rock and roll!
the guitar distortion was really good... which pedals did you use?
Thanks Bruno! I actually used two pedals for this tone, my Friedman BE-OD and I also used my Zvex Box of Rock just to add a bit of depth and for EQ

You are very welcome
Yeah man, that was awesome! I'm afraid to do that with my SG, (the toggle technique), I'm afraid it might break the switch lol.

This is amazing. What a track!!!!
Cheers mate!
Goonies never say die!

Lol I was just thinking about this song
I know ;-)
Do you mind if I ask what guitar your using in this vid?
@@payblo2734 sure it’s an Edwards LP (Japanese make) that I got at an auction a while back. Great value if you can find them!
@@LetsPlayAll thanks!

Świetne lekcje
Don't have an LP. But I do have a flying V with a tone/killpot, so hell yeah!
Nice! Ah man i'd love a flying V!
@@LetsPlayAll Well based on the staggeringly awesome quivver of axes you have already, I imagine you have the means to ontain one, and a damn fine one to boot.
So the intro is unplayable on a stratocaster without a whammy?
Can you do a tutorial of "fistful of steal" please? Thanks
Will get to them all eventually mate, but if you're in a hurry Patreon is the best bet as I do get a load of requests :-)
It's Good enough for me!
:-)
Nice
How do I play this riff on Strat? ((
You either need a guitar with a kill switch fitted or a guitar with pickups that have a separate vol control unfortunately!
@@LetsPlayAll hah, I will work on it😁
So....er....
How do I play this on my accoustic?
haha, same way i do minus the kill switch effect ;-)
Woohoo!
What is it tuned to
Std tuning
Friedman OB ??
BE-OD I think on this one 🤘
@@LetsPlayAll Great guitar lesson & fantastic sound

Ah thanks mate! Just keep playing and you’ll get there! 😀🤘

Great video but do the whole song/solo included or whats the point
thanks, most of the time people just want the main riffs, but enough people request the solo too, I'll add that in a later lesson
I could watch u play tasty riffage like that all day
thanks buddy! need to do a cover for this one at some point :0)
@@LetsPlayAll approved.
Now is good for me

@@LetsPlayAll It's happen in my Epiphone , Thanks for your answer .
It sounds like on the opening riff Tom is playing doublestops and not just one note after another
