Rage and Tool have been connected from early on. Tom Morello and Adam Jones were classmates and played in a band together. Tom moved to LA and introduced Adam to Maynard and Danny. There is quite a history with these two bands although quite different in sound. However, they share mostly the same ideals
Adam and Maynard met through an unknown source, but the pair got introduced to Danny through Morello after not being able to find a drummer or bassist ( and all the people they invited to jams didn’t show up ). Turns out Danny lived in the flat above Maynard’s, and played because he felt bad for them. Another friends of the 3 introduced them to Paul, and the rest is history

He actually talks about the importance of hard work, working with your hands, knowing a trade, and knowing the land you live on. I've really delved into Tool the past couple years, completely forgetting about that, and I just recently had a "WAIT A MINUTE" moment getting so excited to come back to this and enjoy it as a lover of both Rage and Tool
So, at the time this was filmed Maynard & Tool had only released one full length album - Undertow. Two if you count Opiate as a full album. I recall hearing the single "Sober" on the radio back then and thinking it was pretty good but I don't think I would have ever guessed that they would eventually become the incredible band that we all know today.
Being an avid fan of Tool, this is not recent.Theres a video of Maynard holding that note the whole way through that bridge and it raises the hair on your arms 💯❤️🙌
