Glad you like it! Yes, I think so! Instead of making it super super long, I split it up in 2 sections to show the decending line and the repeated bit at the end. Hope it lines up!
@@willripleyguitar yes, that was my point, but we have the video and the loop available, and last but not least our ears, so thanks for making them work.
Love this video great riffs as I’m still learning it would be great if you attached the chords and rhythm like DDUD ETC AS I STILL DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIND THE CHORDS TO THE RIFF
Glad you dig it! Yes as someone mentioned, you can get the PDF: www.willripleyguitar.com/perfect-practice-plan I'll send it right to your email. Is that what you mean? You just want to have the tabs handy or printed out? Or let me know what you're after... Strumming patterns?
Nice! And for alternate picking, try to play the Thunderstruck parts like that with every note picked and no pull offs. It may take getting used to it, but it´s worth the patience. The same goes for the intro of Be quick or be dead by Iron Maiden. Still having trouble with that one but I´m getting there. (The second time they play that lick in the song it´s faster, quite hard with alternate picking - what´s holding me back is hand synchronization. I can pick at the required speed with my right hand but that gets ruined when my left hand has to press the strings to get the notes. But sometimes I manage to get it. 😀)
Awh man fast Alternative picking still stumps me. I'm working on some new material right now which will hopefully help me get up to speed on Thunderstruck
I would have to package those up separately. What you could do though is just play with a metronome, or find drum loops at different tempos. On each one of the lesson segments, there is a 'technique checklist' which also lists the bpm of each drum loop. That will at least give you a starting point! You can also just keep coming back to this lesson and the loops and keep jamming with me
Thanks, great ‘bread and butter’ musical workout ideas ! (One comment: ‘Every breath you take’ ends on F#m9 (same as the second chord ;)), to me this gives it much more 30emotional depth :))
Hey Nick, thanks. I don't coach 1-on-1 much anymore, but I do group coaching inside of The Rip It Up Club - my online guitar coaching platform. I go live weekly, and record 1-on-1 videos for people who upload their "weekly challenges" on the "Student Stage" - it's all in my online community. I'm just creating a new website and video for The Rip It Up Club right now and will do a big relaunch starting on Jan 1. Does any of that sound interesting to you? lemme know
Hmmm...if I'm not mistaken, these are not rock licks and riffs. They're backing tracks to play lead riffs over, right? This is absolutely a great resource, no doubt about it! But I kept expecting the lead licks. Guess it doesn't really matter. Lots of lessons available for many, if not most, of these songs here on TH-cam. In any event, thanks for putting this together.
Well there is the Sweet Child 'O mine lick at 5:43 - and I don't think it's right calling Thunderstruck and the intro to Sweet Child "riffs" - rather they are maybe "leads"? anyways, glad you dug it!
@@willripleyguitar Hi Will..I like your innovative approach to teaching and look forward to watching more...I live across the pond just south of Manchester England and recently picked up my electric again after I dusted the cobwebs off it.. Very very close... it's actually the OG Gibson Slash model. It came out in 2008. I think there was 1800 of these made. I was working at a guitar store - Long & McQuade (here in Canada) and I pulled it out of the box, tuned it up and fell in love with it. I couldn't bare to see it hanging on the wall and put it on a payment plan hahaha. I believe they called this Vintage Sunburst, but you are right, it's pretty much the Slash November Burst. What are you strummin bruh???
@willripleyguitar I have an old 90's ibanez rg270, main player , a 90's rg 570, Epiphone silver burst lp, and a Dean Dime razorback silver. I cant believe how the razorback sounds and plays. Bought my son a jackson , and a Epiphone slash november burst. He is 9. He loves Slash. My Fav is Vito Bratta. We are still beginners
@@CaptainDayne Awesome! I love to hear that you're jamming with your son! My boy is only 6 and is playing a bit of drums...no interest in the guitar yet. I'll try not to force it on him hahaha I hope he comes to it naturally
These are great. But why is there no rhythm notation on the tab? That would facilitate the player being able to use these riffs in different ways in different situations
@ knowing the intervals and rhythms I would transpose them and insert them into other riffs, licks, or even solos. I’m classically trained, and as such I can work that out and transcribe it in standard notation myself. But maybe your students would make good use of that information. Your approach is solid, and by the homage to the Police on the muting technique one of the greatest riffs of all time.. Peace, love, and music.. .

Ahhh I missed the 0-5-0-7 at the end of that didn't I!
@@willripleyguitar yes, that was my point, but we have the video and the loop available, and last but not least our ears, so thanks for making them work.
Thank you : )
You are welcome! Keep coming back and crush it
Wow thanks Will.
You are very welcome! Hope you will keep coming back and work on these?
Man great video. Thanks friend. Just subscribed
Amazing man. Happy to get connected. Looks like I'd better get some more videos like this out!
@willripleyguitar and I better get to practicing LOL. this was definitely awesome
Love this video great riffs as I’m still learning it would be great if you attached the chords and rhythm like DDUD ETC AS I STILL DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIND THE CHORDS TO THE RIFF
There is a pdf in the description
Glad you dig it! Yes as someone mentioned, you can get the PDF: www.willripleyguitar.com/perfect-practice-plan I'll send it right to your email. Is that what you mean? You just want to have the tabs handy or printed out? Or let me know what you're after... Strumming patterns?
@@northfloridarails2136 yea man! Thanks. Hope you grabbed it?
THESE...I will practice!
Have you been back?
I'm working on some new material right now which will hopefully help me get up to speed on Thunderstruck
thanks so much, will I like it when I hear you talking on slow its sounds great and even better when I speed it back up to normal :)!!!
hahaha
@@willripleyguitar lol!! same w Mike b thanks
Subbed
Awesome! Got some more comin' atcha soon
Is there someway to just get the drums separately?
I would have to package those up separately. What you could do though is just play with a metronome, or find drum loops at different tempos. On each one of the lesson segments, there is a 'technique checklist' which also lists the bpm of each drum loop. That will at least give you a starting point! You can also just keep coming back to this lesson and the loops and keep jamming with me
Thanks, great ‘bread and butter’ musical workout ideas !
(One comment: ‘Every breath you take’ ends on F#m9 (same as the second chord ;)), to me this gives it much more 30emotional depth :))
Yes you are right for the most part EXCEPT that the intro circles back around to the A, but I believe every time after that it goes to the F#mi
So cool🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Cheers!!!
What a great, and seemingly novel idea. Do you offer 1:1 lessons?
Hey Nick, thanks. I don't coach 1-on-1 much anymore, but I do group coaching inside of The Rip It Up Club - my online guitar coaching platform. I go live weekly, and record 1-on-1 videos for people who upload their "weekly challenges" on the "Student Stage" - it's all in my online community. I'm just creating a new website and video for The Rip It Up Club right now and will do a big relaunch starting on Jan 1. Does any of that sound interesting to you? lemme know
@@willripleyguitar absolutely sounds interesting.
Ripley believe it or not knows what he is talking about.
I've been teaching guitar for awhile!! So I hope so. It's cool to see this video take off like it has. How's the guitar playing going for you?
@@willripleyguitar Hi Will..I like your innovative approach to teaching and look forward to watching more...I live across the pond just south of Manchester England and recently picked up my electric again after I dusted the cobwebs off it.. I'm just a basic strummer and easy riff player but making music has always given me lots of pleasure...Keep up the good work.
Is that a slash november burst?
No, look at the pickups.
@@billyc6678 They are MojoTone "Classic pickups" which are basically PAF pickups with a little more bottom end - it's a 2008 Slash Les Paul.
@willripleyguitar I have an old 90's ibanez rg270, main player , a 90's rg 570,
Epiphone silver burst lp, and a Dean Dime razorback silver.
How would you use these riffs in different ways in different situations?
@ knowing the intervals and rhythms I would transpose them and insert them into other riffs, licks, or even solos. I’m classically trained, and as such I can work that out and transcribe it in standard notation myself. But maybe your students would make good use of that information. Your approach is solid, and by the homage to the Police on the muting technique one of the greatest riffs of all time.. Peace, love, and music.. .
I think you’re asking for too much, and not saying “thank you” enough. 😂
