I love this no-nonsense approach to a review. This was a specific topic and one that I as a sports shooter am very interested in as I have a D4 on the way. I don't care how many videos there are on the high ISO performance subject as I do not have a D3s for reference. Thank you so much for this video!
@thpjm 1) As mentioned in the TH-cam description, this was shot with an AF100. Killer camera! 2) Lowepro Classified 250 3) Chris had a 14-24 F2.8, 85mm F1.4, 300mm F4 & 2X Teleconverter VIII Thanks for watching and subscribing!
@Darw1n1st Nick is in the process of updating his website. He's a great photographer as well as skateboarder, and we'll post the link when he's ready to promote his page. Jordan @ The Camera Store TV
@MrBasjunk In this particular test, Chris struggled to find any. Don't worry though, I have some ready for when we do the video shootout! Jordan @ The Camera Store TV
The D4 is one of the best DSLRs ever made. Its low light performance and buffer are unmatched. The only downfall is slightly soft video. Just pure amazing in every other aspect. Grab a D800 & D4 and you will have everything you have ever dreamed of at the same damn time!
@comosar51- not sure but the stutter rate was awesome. And it's rated for 400,000 frames. Please note, if your buffer lasts more than four hours, see a Dr. immediately.
Great test video. Hope you'll do a D4 vs 1D-X soon in low light. Will the D4 still get more detail AND a clean image up to 12,800? Which AF system responds better? Etc.Is the D4 a better overall camera at 1k CAD les? I heard when shooting video with the D800 you cannot adjust the volume while recording. Same with the D4? I assume this is not so with the Canon 5D3/1D-X. True?
Hi. Great rewiev of this lovley camera. I am just a amature photographer but i got my D4 a couple og months ago. I am just wondering witch lens you where shooting with? Regards Roffeman1
@TheCameraStoreTV Hey Jordan, always been impressed by your AF100 Footage, actually it looked so good that I just purchased an AF100 myself, could you tell me your settings you shoot at, like detail, detail v etc.? I know some change depending on situation, but what are the ones that you usually keep the same?
may I ask you about low-light performance on both bodies? I own a D850 an espacielly in darker indoor scenes, even a Sigma f1.4 lens shows limits and high noise while shooting. Is there a noticable difference in those darker situations and do the pictures from the D4 look better?
Hi, great vid. Question though, the lighting rendered on the camera pics vs the video camera footages are different. Which one is the closest to ambient lighting? Thanks
hi really nice clip in low light conditions; I've got an invitation from nikon pro rep; so I'm waiting to get it in my own hands before ordering it; please some dumb questions: 1/what did you use to record your video clip?dslr? camcorder? 2/ what's your bag ? 3/I didn't hear clearly what lenses you used, can you tell us ? thanks ps I subscribed to your channel - I discovered it from NR, ... ;) -
@mattsbars I have the same combo. Download the Magic Lantern firmware. It's a must. You'll get on-screen audio levels so you'll know if they're too high or low and it shuts off the AGC that gives your audio that hissing noise. Always use the high pass filter on the mic if youre not recording music and then use the +20 decibels when shooting quiet things.
I am still waiting for mine to come in ... always had Nikon as I had the D70, D70s, D200, D300 and the D700 so the D4 will be my first I went all out on to get ... I got the D4 for it's Shutter Life and the Low Light as well the build of it to take weather ...
Hey CameraStore. Just asking, I recieved my RODE video mic PRO a few weeks ago for my canon 550d, the mic has a few settings on it and im not quite sure how to use it. Im scared that if i shoot a film that i cant film again, and the audio is too soft or way too loud. Please do a tutorial on the videomic. As always, thankyou.
Funny seeing him try to shill for garbage xQD cards like it was anything but a gimmick only to see nikon start to drop it by the D5 offering a full CF version.
I got mine off ebay from Japan in mint condition with 35k shutter actuations. I love this camera. If you find a good price, go for it. Take a look at this shot: flic.kr/p/RdmrPW
What lenses did Chris use? I see 14-24, 300 f4, anything else? And it's a good thing that Chris had a really good sex with the autofocus, it's quite important on an action camera! :D
I have a D3s and D700 that I really like and I just recently grabbed a pristine D4 with a 914! shutter count for $900. Most D4s I looked at had high shutter counts and were battered.
You guys should have a shoot out with Kai and Lok. I think you deliver the goods much more efficiently; great content, more specs and definitely all around more in depth. Keep up the awesome work and post MORE often!!!
The D4s goes beyond the D4 ... Shoots at 11fps with autofocus. Clean images at ISO 4000 - very minor noise at ISO 8000. Group autofocus is amazing ... does not get fooled by background. Buffer is 200 JPEG's Fine. D4s is one awesome camera!
no offense but most of your AF tests were done with lenses that arent very shallow and almost no shallow DOF. most all of the shot area was in focus so who could really tell if it focused good or bad. with that said im confident that the D4 did focus properly just that your test didnt illustrate much that would show it off. good video demo otherwise.
I'm a Canon guy, but DAMN that DSLR rules!! wouldn't mind changing camps for that one...or D800 for that matter...or even D7k :D :D :D :D on the other hand, if I got my hands on 5D Mk3, that would cement me as a Canon guy....
i'm a nikon user, but to be honest, canon 1dx has slightly faster fps (11fps) and AF than the D4. If you need that ultimate quickness in AF, canon is the way to go. That's why so many F1 photographers shoot with canon. I personlly hate canons, they feel cheap and look stupid. the index finger dial at the top of the camera is the dumbest thing ever, bu, the 1dx out performs the D4. slightly. but not in high iso.
lol I wonder if anyone has just been looking at camera reviews online looking for a first camera heard a high end review and just bought something like a d4
fisheyes can bee good but most skateboarders and bmxers just overuse them plus they also go for the cheapest fisheye they can find ( ebay ;) ) wich are just terrible making the image look reeel baaad !! :L
I hate these useless video's... Just like DigitalRev, they've used way too long shutter speeds and on a video you can not judge any noise performance at all. These images shown in the video are crap. I'm 100% sure that my canon 7D could do even better. Still nice to see a hands on experience of this beast, yet this video doesn't show any of it's performance.
NO one needs more camera than a D4. All the camera you need.
this is probably the best test of the nikon d4 at the moment
@MrChelove He was referring to using up some of the 400000 shots the D4 shutter is rated for.

I wonder if you would still say that now in 2022?
@@sn4rl277it’s great now in 2023
@@nickfanzo I picked one up 7 months ago, and wow love it. I want to get a D700 or D800 to be secondary to this monster.
Great review! Very impressed, hope to see more in the near future!
This was filmed on the Panasonic AF100. It's a great, underrated camera.

@TheCameraStoreTV Thanks Jordan, that looks like a really good video camera!
It is now 2020 and I still LOVE the D4 -- and prefer it to any other Nikon camera (except for the D850).

Chris, What did you shoot this video with?
@4321firemedic1 Panasonic AF100.
Jordan @ The Camera Store TV
@fwijffels are you really comparing your 7D to the D4?
Hey CameraStore. Just asking, I recieved my RODE video mic PRO a few weeks ago for my canon 550d, the mic has a few settings on it and im not quite sure how to use it. Absolutely outstanding video, guys! Great information. Nice shots and examples. I've subscribed.
Funny seeing him try to shill for garbage xQD cards like it was anything but a gimmick only to see nikon start to drop it by the D5 offering a full CF version.
That was shot on Continuous High with 3D Tracking AF.
Where can I get one for a reasonable price in good condition?I live in Montreal Canada.
d4 and d800 have a left focusing problem.. how do you think about this?
What is your thoughts about buying used? What about gray market? What about refurbished?
I got mine off ebay from Japan in mint condition with 35k shutter actuations. I love this camera. If you find a good price, go for it. Take a look at this shot: flic.kr/p/RdmrPW

Thanks for the video. You answered nearly every question I had! Nimon should pay you for an hinest review!
Make the D600 in the D4 spec please. $ for D4 is too ridiculous. Need the lowlight IQ. Currently using D7K.
Millenium Skate Park in Calgary, Canada.
What are the cons?
Would love to know what camera this video was shot on?
Great video! No BS either. I'll go ahead and subscribe now. Looking forward to other vids. Please test out the D800 when you get your hands on it!
blooper at the end LOLLLLLLLLLL
" were having really good sex with this camera " lol

oh my...collin farrel??
Chris why were you standing on a wet patch at the start, did you piss yourself?
Thanks Jordan - great quality!
looks like u have designed and manufactured the camera
I immediately got the Fisheye joke.
How does this compare to the Canon 1DX?
Different system. If You have Canon lenses then stick to Canon. Too much money lost in switching to a different brand.
Great video Chris, you have a new subscriber!
I was far more impressed with the video then the nikon. The video quality is tops! Good job fellas but you should come to Miami and warm up a bit.
Anyone noticed the spaceship taking off between 8:07~8:21?
great video, thanks for your work .. But .. that the spot under the feet of this guy at the beginning of the video? ( Just kidding :) )
Good stuff guys.
great review!

should've shot in 6400 or 8000 iso and bumped the shutter speed :)
Nikon,is ISO performance beast man! DAMN!
Thanx for posting!! I like your vids guys!! :)
Was the auto-focusing good in bed?
Any help with my post below?
No extensive photos to prove that this expensive camera works in the dark.
Freudian Slip lol I don't blame you for thinking it, it is a really nice camera ;)
@Dar1n1st (sp?) I concur! Cold as the weather!
I love skateboarding & I taking photos for a living, thought i hate those big camera but I really love the videos taken on skatepark
Always nice vid
you should get the camera closer when you are filming yourself talk, it would look better in my opinion
I'm a Canon guy, but DAMN that DSLR rules!! wouldn't mind changing camps for that one...or D800 for that matter...or even D7k :D :D :D :D
on the other hand, if I got my hands on 5D Mk3, that would cement me as a Canon guy....
@MrBasjunk Cost :)
Samples from 2:47 are not tack sharp. Bump ISO 1/2 EV over and re shoot this scene.
@macprorocks D4 vs 1D mk X
I hate the Fisheye too.....
0:16 Chris pee'd his pants of excitement? lol

After all those years D4 is much cheaper on the used market than 1dx which is great.
i think its 11 FPS
Spaceship from 8:00 to 8:22
You have to read it Neekon not Naikon
5D Mark III vs D4!
2 people disliked this video? They must be a Canon 1D X fanboys. :p
7 ppl in here are CANON users.
shots are blurry.
lol I wonder if anyone has just been looking at camera reviews online looking for a first camera heard a high end review and just bought something like a d4
Well, it's dark.
Too long exposures for sport
less talking, more testing
CALGARYYYY!!!!!
This guy really need's to learn compassion
WHY DO YOU NEVER SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT ANY OF THE CAMERAS YOU REVIEW!!!!!
Chris, please please please... Nikon is pronounced /nee-kon/ NOT /nigh-kon/.
fisheyes can bee good but most skateboarders and bmxers just overuse them plus they also go for the cheapest fisheye they can find ( ebay ;) ) wich are just terrible making the image look reeel baaad !! :L
dude aren't there enough videos to prove the low light shooting of the toy you are playing with? go home and do some real business.
The quality for this video is the worst!
I hate these useless video's... Just like DigitalRev, they've used way too long shutter speeds and on a video you can not judge any noise performance at all. These images shown in the video are crap. I'm 100% sure that my canon 7D could do even better.

shite!!!! Fernando Torres can skate as well
:D
This review KILLS DRTV.
yes that is right, but fisheye images are UGLY! :P
too much talking damn it
