Stunning photos, the camera is the workhorse but the capability and vision comes from the person handling the camera and you've got that by the bucket load! powerful images.
Anyone still watching in 2024? ... love your shit. still shooting the D4 for my live event shoots... this guy has an incredible low light sensor. no joke!
Finally someone who talks about gear and at the same time has ASTONISHING pictures in his portfolio. Most of the guys just talk about pixels and you never see their photos. I can't however find any relevant reviews on using D4 for wildlife photography :(
Thank you. I appreciate it my friend. The ultimate photography rush for me would be to capture my favorite wild animal, The tiger. One day I'd love to try it.

Probably hands down one of the best builds Nikon has ever put out. My D4 is high mileage also and continues to earn its keep. Although it lacks some of the bells and whistles the D5 and D6 offer, it still holds its own. Lousy light? Completely dark? Harsh sun? Pouring rain? This camera takes it all in stride. I have shot it at cringeworthy ISO’s, and still have very usable results. Add an external flash, and the results are dazzling. I have newer bodies, but the D4 will always have a place in my bag. Thanks for making such great videos. All the best! 😎
This is the best review of this camera aside from Theoria Apophasis. I purchased my Nikon D3 brand new like you did for the D4. I added the D3s and beat the crap out of them. I still use them. I added the D4s and then the D4 to my arsenal. I did so because I am a documentary photographer for low and available light situations. As a matter if practice, I often cannot nor use flash unless I am absolutely in near total darkness. I destroyed my D4 and D4s this summer while covering the MLK March on Washington DC when I got into the reflecting pool and did not realize until it was too late that my straps were too long, submerging them, in just a matter of seconds. Nikon was able to to repair my lenses but the cost to repair the bodies was prohibitive. So, I replaced them on Ebay. I have abused all of my Nikon cameras and agree with everything you said. They get heavy after about three hours but they never let me down. I am also not a spray and pray shooter. Great images.
Thank you Lamar. Your words are very much appreciated. WOW. amazing real life photographic experiences there. How would you like to be on one of my true story confession of a pro photographer episodes on my channel. Tell that story when you trashed the camera during the march. Would love to feature it. If your interested email me vahagraphy@yahoo.com and lets talk about it.
Hi there. Thank you for this great video about a great camera! My first „big“ Nikon was the D3s, which I bought new in 2011. My second body was a D700 - I really loved them both, but the D3s a little more. In 2019 I found a good offer for a D4 with only about 800 shots fired. She‘s so great. A little later, I bought a Df as my second body on weddings and other events for the reason the sensor is the same as in the D4. The Df is really beautiful I think, but once shot with the Nikon „bricks“ … there is something I can‘t explain, I just love it. So since then I thought about buying a D850 or a D5 and sell the Df. Two weeks ago I finally sold the Df for a good price, planning to have an eye on the market. One day later I found a D4s with about 280 shots. New. No marks. Nothing. That was a no brainer for me. The D4 is epic, the D4s also. No D5/D850 needed. Period. Your video manifested my decision. Thanks again for that! Stay healthy and have a great day!
I'm amazed you still have your joystick nips. I have 3 of these and those seem to always pop out. It is not unlike the rubber rings on those old 28-70 AF-s 2.8's. They fixed that on the D4s. The shutter fell out of my "least-beat-up" one earlier this year at over 800k clicks. These are a true workhorse and the images from them hold up VERY well compared to todays equipment
Congrats Brian and thank you for the positive comments. He will love this camera for sure. I love mine and I plan on using it till the cameras last breathe. lol
I just got a heavily used D4 today. My first FX camera. Already have a 50 1.8 and a 80-200 2.8 that I'm using with my D7100. Loving the way it feels in my hands, loving the 10 fps when I need it. Always love the Nikon ergonomics and the menu system. It has plenty of scars and dings and a pretty high SC (390K), but it's at a price point I can afford, plus I'm a hobbyist with some small ad-hod paid shoots sometimes. Can't wait to shoot with it when Covid-19 dies down.
Jeremy depends on what you’re shooting. If it’s fast moving sports and you really need the battery life and reliability, then the D4 is the way to go. Same for the D3s, D4s and D5. For more...general purpose all-round shooting, D750 is the way to go. Also has good video if you need it. Best part is the 2 SD slots, so you only need one card reader. Personally, D4. Small file sizes, good performance in low light, battery lasts for a long time.
Thank you Yamen. Check out my full video on Sarit Hadad with the the Nikon D4 here. Had a blast at this event. th-cam.com/video/p-UmazVvpgc/w-d-xo.html
I owned a D700 and loved it. Bought a used D3s sometime last year with about 45k shutter actuations. Completely blown away by the images it produces, much superior to D700. I've since sold the D700 and was on the look out for a D4. This video and the beautiful images at the end only serves to motivate me further to get one.
If someone want to trade their D5 for my D4. I would probably decline. Not because of the value aspect but because of the sentimental value this unit holds. We both have been thru allot together, lol i can' t part ways with it. Even after it retires I will still keep it as a conversation piece. btw , mine still ticking and using it often in 2021 on gigs.
I am not a big wedding photography fan. I don't know much about it. Mostly look at wildlife clicks. But man the pictures made me smile. Such gorgeous frames. Thank you for this video :)
Thanks for your review!! I just scored a mint condition D4 from Japan with less than 10k clicks for just $1,200.00! I'm keeping my D3s though, and my D700 and D850!
thats like brand new . good score. 1200 is nothing. wow. your going to love the D4. Something about the files of this camera. Its just close to perfect. congrats and enjoy
Wow, perfect shot! Mine is 8 years old now and since its renew - shutter was brocken and rubber not in best condition - it´s also nearly brandnew again :-)
@@wolfgangaigner good job, you took it to the fountain of youth. There was a Twilight Zone episode , the original 50's one, where an old man goes and becomes a tennager again. hehe :)

Here I am in 2023 thinking of getting my first full frame camera that fits in my very small budget and this one is at the top of my list, very nice looking photos by the way!
Great images at the end of the video, really glad you included some of your work! Cameras can't see moments of emotion or frame artistic compositions but they CAN allow the person behind the viewfinder concentrate more on the art and less on technical stuff/settings. For me mirrorless and things like Eye AF and a live preview have made the process so much easier than using dslr's or film. I too have great images taken with 4 and 6 megapixel cameras from over 20 years ago but new technology just makes the acquisition so much easier. A lot depends on what you shoot too, if you want to capture a kingfisher in flight diving for it's meal the camera makes all the difference in the world, however if you want to photograph a sunset over the lake a simpler even slower camera can be just as capable. About 3 years ago I purchased a Sony A7Riii just to "see" what the hype was about. I was willing to return it and pay the restocking fee and return if it didn't work out. Within hours I was loving the new camera and in the weeks that followed sold all my Canon bodies, lenses and accessories I had acquired of the past 20 years. Zero regrets and I love shooting with my Sony cameras. I never did wildlife or fast action photography but now I do because my cameras don't frustrate me. Recently purchased the A1, expensive but with the ability to use electronic shutter for almost everything I'm hoping it'll have a long run like the D4 you're holding. Shooting musicians on stage it's not uncommon to come home with over 700 images per show. Multiply that times 3 shows a week in addition to other photography and a mechanical shutter count for a week of usage can easily be 3,000. Multiply that by a year and it's up to 150,000. I don't think of it as "spray and pray", not at all... shooting bursts at high frame rates when there's something you see rather than trying to time the perfect single frame allows selecting the exact moment later in post. Over 20 years ago when digital emerged my cousin and I (also a professional photographer that owned a processing lab) said we're going to see a day when prints are simply made from still frames plucked from video that captures the entire event. We're at the point now where that isn't far from the truth. On the other side of the coin I still know a photographer that shoots black and white film on his medium format cameras for weddings and creates outstanding images. He too shoots Nikon DSLR's and hasn't yet dove into mirrorless although I think he may do so soon.
Stumbled across this older video. I have always looked upon the D4 as THE Rock & Roll, mean metal mother of a DSLR. They still command a high price in good condition used here in the UK. I see them go for £1000 £1200 (US$15/1700 I guess) from used retail dealers. I expect cheaper from a private individual. I would like to get one just for the fun of it while they are still around. Keep rocking the good content. Steve
Hello Steve. Thank you for watching 🤘🏼 and welcome to Vahagraphy. Yes the D4 is a beast and I love it. If you can find one in good shape and good price. Go for it. Nothing but a good time using the D4.
Your welcome Ted. The D4 has been GOLD for me and for many Nikon users around the world. It continues to deliver today in 2021 almost 9 years since my purchase. Amazing.
Wow great video thank you so much. I just traded my Nikon z6 for the D4 and 150-600mm and I can’t believe my eyes how incredible the D4 is... WOW!!! My D4 has only 3,127 actuations not a single scratch. I traded mine a my local Nikon store (Camera Inn) in Anniston Alabama owned by David Bradsma.
Im glad you enjoyed the Video Charlie and congrats on your Nikon D4. Wow you traded the Z6 for a D4. thats crazy and not in a bad way. 3k shutter? wow thats also crazy in am awesome way. Well you scored with that mint D4. As years go by these cameras will become more and more hard to find in the used market. Take good care of it and it will take care of you in return.
Hi greetings from the UK,I enjoy watching your videos have been a Nikon user for decades with the original F F2,F3,F4 F3 being my all time 35mm SLR.....I currently have a D800 with about 21000 clicks on it,love it but 4fps is not enough so I picked up a mint D4 with only 3,156 clicks for £780 or $982 yesterday can't wait to fire that shutter at 10 fps! keep the videos coming.
Great video and images! I have a D4 and D4s and newer Nikon bodies but the D4 is amazing especially in low light. I got the cameras used with very low shutter counts. The pristine D4 had only 914 activations and came with extra batteries! It must have been on someones shelf.

I’ve had my D4 since 2012 also. Great rugged workhorse, never a single problem. Also wish both card slots were XQD. Used from zero degrees to + 114, and all conditions between.
The D4 is one of those once in a decade type cameras that if you fully put it through its paces it will shine like no other. def a go to camera in my bag till this day.
FANTASTIC review! Spot on with so many of your comments. I have a D3, but upgraded to a D4 a little less than a year ago. I bought used with I think around 50k? (at 88k now - a lot of that was shooting sports, so did used the rapid fire a bit). I think Nikon estimates shutter life at 400k? Agree with hating that 2nd card slot - not even a decent one, could have lived with SD, but XQD or some such thing? They really missed the boat on that one. And 16 Mp - more than enough. Canon colors comment was right on point as well. 3200 ISO - pretty accurate, although I've gotten a few at 6400 that were ok. Better if you clean them up in post though. Some really, and I mean REALLY great shots. You are a true talent sir. TY
Thank you very much Charles. Appreciate your kind words there at the end. :) 88k shutter?., ahh its just broken in. If you good care of it this camera will keep on going for many years and many clicks. The D4 is a Nikon champ. Not many cameras I can be totally confident in delivering day in and day out without any hick ups the D4 from the images to the battery to the build quality. its an amazing camera. I know photographers that have over 1 million clicks and still going strong. Enjoy the D4 and never sell it. :)
Hey, Just bought a used Nikon D4s with less than 44K clicks for about 1 200 € ! I like to use prime lenses and my other body is the D850, what a great combo !
Photos look incredible! Very nice song too. Someone stole my Nikon rig about 3 years ago and I decided to try Fujifilm. I'm very happy with Fuji but I still love Nikon cameras, I'm just too lazy to haul them around now haha
Thank you KO Bossy for the awesome comment. Seems like Fuji is Nikon user's second or hybrid camera for good reasons. Take me for example I use both and love both. yes Nikon gear can get to much and heavy at times. Sorry to hear about the theft. I hate when people do this. Why take something that isn't yours. Karma.
Hey brother, I see that your video was posted a year ago, so please pardon my late arrival to the party. Thank you for your outstanding video and review...I can't help but feel that you and I are very similar creatures, based both on your photography (your captures are exquisite) and the way you speak. That said, I shoot Nikon, and have done so throughout my little "photography life"...first film with F3's & F4's, then the move to digital brought to a D5000, a D7000, and now 2 D4's, which are pretty much my "go-to" cameras. (I also have a Mamiya 645AFD medium-format with film and digis' backs, but I suppose that's a story another day) I'd say I pretty much agree with all that you've started about the D4, and Nikon in general. I don't feel that I've ever really been "anything short of happy" with my D4's and the results and images they produce. My photography journey and story is.long, but interesting and rooted in true emotion,.. As a fellow photographer, I feel that you'd appreciate it, and I'd love to share it with you sometime. I'm very pleased that I found your video and channel, and will definitely subscribe to it. Thanks again for your solid opinions and insight in this video,. That work you posted is better with an "old" D4 that some people are doing with much newer cameras. This camera rocks 💯 today. Always wanted to own one but never had the pleasure
Thank you Paul. New or old the D4 ROCKS, I am very happy with it. It has treated me very well and still does in 2021. I love gear and I would love to own a D6 hehe. But we use what we have. Work with what you have and just enjoy the process of taking pictures. After all, its all about the photography at the end of the day.
@@Vahagraphy agree with you completely. I LOVE gear and have quite a few things but at the end of the day, I'm at my happiest when I'm actually out taking pictures that me and my clients love. At the end of the day, I can do a paid gig comfortably with a Nikon D610 (2013 entry level full frame) ow whatever old gear I've had in the past.
@@PQPhotography End of the day it all comes down to the pictures and the clients smiles and memories. Doesn't matter if your camera can do 2 fps or 50 fps or id you have the latest greatest sensor or processor or not. The images is what matters. Sure those new features make it more amazing but it won't help anyone develop better photography skills. That's on the photographer.
Thank you Billie. Glad you enjoyed the video. How funny you mention those 2 camera. I've owned both in the past. both amazing cameras and if I still had them, those cameras would do an amazing job.
Great images! WOW! I know it’s 4 years later from this post but do you still have this D4? I just bought a D4S with shutter count of 29,210👍🏻 am stoked! Looking forward to shooting this beast for fun! Normally shoot Z9.
I´m a professional and my D4 still is my number one reportage or docuentary camera. I see no reason to get a D5 or D6. I also own a Z6 and a D3 and when i film concerts, i often use my D4 for a total view, whereas i take my Z6 for detail-videos to cut in and together with my old horse D3 for photography. Still D3 is great in 2021. Last year the shutter of my D4 broke after approx 460k photos but i decided to renew it and the rubber for just € 600,- and am able to use it another couple of years. I wouldn´t do it, when the shutter of the D3 will break, but it has much less shutter counts as i bought my D4 just 3 years after the D3. Now, i was curios of my battery-age, as i recognized that it´s imprinted in your video. Mine are from 06-2012 and 05-2012 and also in perfect condition. I love my Nikon lineup and may i will expand it by a Z7 II or a D850. Thank you for your video and must say, that you do great photography as well. Best greetings from Vienna/ Austria
Thank you Pat. Im happy you enjoy my videos. More videos to come. Im on the same boat as you. Im looking for either a D850. which I owned before, dropped it , had issues with focus, had to sell it. OR looking for a Z7ii ,, or I might just wait for the rumored Z9. We will see. Hopefully all the rumors I'm hearing about Nikon being in trouble is not TRUE. I will be devastated. Thank you for your kind motivating words. Ohhh I miss concerts to. I miss allot of things, because of the strong shutdowns here in California due to Covid. :(
I still use mine almost on the daily. Great camera. I still think the D4s was way better on autofocus but mine is a brick now so the D4 is what I've been using.
I use my D4 on the daily as well and love it till this day. The day my D4 stops ticking will be a sad day . hehe. Its my most reliable camera I can turn to for results. Best DSLR I have ever owned.
I must admit now I have been using the D4 as my main camera for sports. The picture quality is amazing. My prior post was pre mature on my part. I love it.
Very capable camera...I use my 70-200 vr11 on it always....joy to use...too much snobbery in photography imv re gear....great handling ...very comfortable! Great blog btw...clear & concise!!
I've been a fan of Sarit's for a long time. Love her voice and talent. I was fortunate enough in 2016 to see her live in Los ANgeles. I snook it to the event with my D4 and monopod. haha, Can't belive I actually got the chance to not only see her but to take pictures. wow what a night, will never forget
I've had a D300 for about 15 years now. I wanted to step up to a full frame DSLR and found a D4 for 700 bucks with less than 200k actuations. I'm of the glass over body opinion. It's a great platform to put my older Nikkor manual focus lens to their best use. It's a crazy deal for those not ready to go mirror less.
That D4 in my opinion is the best Nikon Pro Level DSLR ever produced. The files coming out of that thing are amazing and one of a kind. Enjoy it Andrew.
I have bought mine used from a wedding photographer in 2016 with 56 000 shutter count. With it all his JPeg settings. I now runs as 162 000 shutter count, I do nature and wildlife and school sport. it lives on my Nikon 300 f2.8 vr1 and it spits out clean and sharp files with every trip. It is a great feeling not the have GAS, as you know very little out there will do a better job. Recently bought a D4s with 8200 shutter count for $1200 spotless. The immediate reaction from many others with GAS asked me why not a D850? or D5 or Z7? Simple answer, you don't know what I know.
Great video, I read that the D4 has 300,000 actuation expectancy and takes great pictures, strong body and good features for professional photographers. I like to know what each cameras do before I buy it and not get one with too much features and options that I will never going to use.
Yes, the D4s and D4 are very similar. I believe the D4s is better in low light but over all its the D4 and some. Build is exactly the same. Put it this way, If you had the choice, get the D4s.
@@Vahagraphy Thanks, the moment I find a good one I'll pull the trigger on that 4s then! I've seen the quality of the sensor and it's just amazing! On a different subject, great drumming (I've heard you) and considering that I'm a professional musician, take that as a true compliment!
Hello Vahagraphy, you are so right about Nikon pro camera they are built to work. Now for me I normally wait for the second iterations of a camera? Which is strang as I have headed up a number R&D software company over time
I’ve had the D4 for about a couple of years, i got it with just a few shutter clicks, it was about 7k. Love shooting with it, but then I got into the shopping syndrome and I bought the z6s, even though I loved those cameras, I preferred more the Nikon D4, and i think I will keep using it until whenever!! Thinking to get anotherone
I haven't purchased a new camera for a long time because my old Nikon's work so well but in the past when I have upgraded it was only because the new camera had features that I had to have. I'm still using a D800, D600, D700, D7200 and D7100. I upgraded from a D2x to the D7100 because the D7100 was so much better in almost every way. As you can see I tend to hang onto my gear!
I have a D810 and I still love it. Have not yet switched to mirrorless, and I don't think I will switch, maybe just add a Z6 in the near future. While not built as well as the D4, the D810 is also very solid and produces great images. What I love the most though is the ergonomics. I love all the buttons and shortcuts that I can set to my preference.
I agree Taipei. I to have a D800 purchased in 2012 and I still use it mainly for landscape and studio portraits today. With 200k clicks on that body, it still works great and produces results. The used value for the D800 isnt to kind so I much rather keep it and enjoy it till it dies. lol. You will love the Z6. FTZ adapter is a must especially if you have nikon glass.
Love my D4....less than 1800 clicks. Considered selling it last year, but I sold my D700 instead. So today my D500 (also less than 2000 clicks) and D4 are semi-retired :].
You missed out the D3x, which I have. A great camera. Only £750 in February, 2021;with only 5000 actuations with antialiasing filter and 24 megapixel sensor ( £6000 in 2008, when it first came out). Not perfect, not that great in low light, but a good camera just the same. I'm glad I bought it.
I was actually going to get one but the deal fell through. I was always looking at a D3X. The thought of owning what was once a 8K dollar Nikon for just under a grand was entertaining. The guy wouldn't budge on his used price and when they finally did, I had already moved on from wanting one. I might still get one. We will see.
Just got mine a week a ago but haven’t had time to go out and tested in wildlife. I’ve taken some shots of random stuff and it’s great, especially in low light. Got my camera used with only 10K shutter count for 1013 bucks. I have been going through the features and there some pretty similar to my other camera, the D800 and my crop sensor D3300.
I have a D4 , i shoot equestrian on weekends, i bought it used with 50k on the shutter in 2019. It.takes amazing photos , dynamic range is off the charts .image quality is supberb. I csn draw out so much from the raw files on lightroom. It shoots all day and i shot it in a rain storm no probs. Its so good im getting another one. I dont see the need for mirrorless.
Im telling you. This camera is a hit. Some Nikon shooters I talked to actually prefer the D4 files over the D5 or D6. The Nikon D4 has been amazing to me for 10 years now. Bought it since click 1. Don't you love it when your going into battle, rain storms, and you know you have nothing to worry about. This camera can take hits and keeps on going.

This maybe a 3 year old video, but I kept on watching it while waiting for my D4 to arrive. 1 quick question sir, what sony XQD series is compatible with the D4? Will the G series work? And whats the max XQD capacity the D4 can accept? 64gb
I’ve just picked one up with only 267 photos on it (not 267 thousand, just 267 photos). Obviously it’s old 2012 I think, but looks brand new. But what worries me is the age. Could it stop working via age , for example old circuits , capacitors etc? It’s been keeped in great low humidity storage etc. any ideas ? Great video btw 👍
What wow. Time Capsule indeed. Where was this camera all this time. This camera is sealed well. If it works fine now you should be fine. So I take it there is not one mark on it. You probably have the least amount of usage on a D4 in the entire world.
thank you so much for this genuine video, just watched while on the way (googling) for a D4. I see a great photographer in your sample images & love them. (it is the man behind the camera for sure rather gear). Vahagan, I have couple of questions. is D700 similar to D3 in practical point of view? What are the lenses you use with your D4? Greetings from Sri Lanka.
Thank you Mahinda. Also greetings from USA. The D4 has been amazing to me for almost 10 years now. I still shoot with it daily. The D700 is amazing but if you had to choose, I would def go witth the Nikon D4 for sure. Built amazing, Built in grip. Better battery life. Nikon D4 for sure. D700 is a great camera, but for the used price you can pick up a D4 for cheap now.

humm, well, I like the camera and the price. its a bit high shutter , not to say its high for that camera shutter , no its just been used a bit , Id ask if he can lower 300 more.
Good question. The reason why I say this is because the D850 is a modern current camera with 3 times the pixels and double the price but the D4 is a pro rugged beast that will cost you allot less if you can find one used. What is your budget? If your looking for something on the budget the D4 would be an option, however the D850 is going to have an amazing picture with details and that 46 mega pixels. and dont forget better tracking, more focus points, SO probably if pricing wasnt an issue the D850 for sure. and also take a look at the D500. Crop sensor however allot of wildlife shooters love the D500. The focus tracking is amazing on that camera.
Just saw a d3 with 70k for 490 euros and a d4 with 76k for 1099 euros....wich one to go for....I use apsc for makro and wildlife but wanna try out one of these legendary beasts so bad....
@@michaelgerhold5659 I would go for the D4 and here is why, a few hundred dollars more. Better low light, more pixels. fast AF, bigger LCD and the D4 does video. The D3 does not have video capabilities. The D4 can record video HD at 1080P. Better processor. The D3 was Nikon's first FX Pro DSLR body camera. The D3s. D3X then the D4. So yah D4 ALL THE WAY.. Im living proof that the D4 is amazing. hehe good luck Michael.
Hey Vahagn, beautiful images there. How are the images at 12,800. The D4 I have never shot, but the D3s I have, it’s was a low light beast. How is that Fuji XH1 of yours? If you haven’t done a video on it and your experiences, please do one. You are right, you don’t need to jump on the latest and greatest, it’s not the camera that takes great images, it’s the photographer. I can’t wait for COVID-19 to end so wedding season can begin and I can get back to typical outdoor stoned and natural portraits. Oh and if you have ever shot an Air Show, you will be spraying and sometimes praying because those planes move so fast. I don’t know where people get this stupid stuff from regarding the mega pixels, 16-20 is more than enough and even 12 isn’t horrible if you are not cropping in a lot and have your composition correct. If you are a wedding photographer who wants to edit 36-100 meg files, especially if you have a work flow, that’s crazy. I got rid of my d810 for this reason and because I wanted the low light performance and the video capabilities. I also realized for my studio work that 36 mega pixels wasn’t needed. I sold my trusty d750 to my son when he started his business. My son has moved on to a full video production crew of six and four of them use black magic cameras and he just bought another one last night and during COVID he landed two huge government contracts for video and he has done work for EA-Sports, which was three weeks ago. I taught him well. He still uses the d750 for photography but he will be ordering a Z6II to replace it. He is busier working at home during COVID-19 then last year at his office.
Thank you for sharing Sid. Your son is on the right path. Kudos to you for introducing the beauty of photo and video. Black magic cameras are amazing, My friend does wedding video and he loves them. Yes there are times you would need to kind of shoot CH. spray and pray, lol. that is one of the times. , baseball on the swing, soccer on the kick, you get my point, the action shots. at weddings, popping a champein or jumping, bouquet toss. But for me in my photography, that happens not to often. If Im not covering a sporting event, then i pretty much keep it on Single. As far as the D4 at 12800, its ok. usable image but not a clean image. D4 was out at the time when things were just getting started in Low light, but if you compare the modern cameras 12800 to the D4, its a little better but not to the level of WOW. I never hsoot at 12800 anyway.
I am an amateur looking to get into sports photography. I currently shoot with a Nikon D7200 and the D4 looks like it would be a great step up for me. How does it cope at higher ISO?
For a 2012 camera, it does very well in low light. I can say its smokes the D800 and its even better or equal to some modern day mirrorless crop sensor cameras. Very good camera the D4. you will not regret buying one.
Brilliant cameras through and through, I trade photographic equipment for a living and there’s a good reason why I own and keep one for myself. I currently have one in stock with 2.3 million shots! They’re tough chicks and the best rounded and value cameras on the market but built to be used and abused, will never part with mine.

Absolutely beautiful. Everything. I've owned a D4 since the beginning as well and it is a workhorse.
D4 was and still is a Winner all around great camera.
2022 just purchased one, excellent condition, 60,000 D4s beautiful piece of kit to use as is the D3.
My sons just bought one (second hand) and is over the moon with it. I’ve sent him your great review! Very much appreciated, Thankyou 👍
Congrats Brian and thank you for the positive comments. He will love this camera for sure. I love mine and I plan on using it till the cameras last breathe. lol
Wedding photos are wicked awesome man, but the aerial firefighting shots... Absolutely insane. Love it.
Thank you Dory for the positive motivating comment. Glad you enjoyed this video and images.
Hi mate just want to ask your opinion If compared to the D750 which one better?
thats awesome. great time to buy a used camera at a low price. Enjoy it. you will love the results of this spectacular camera.

Jeremy D810
Jeremy depends on what you’re shooting. If it’s fast moving sports and you really need the battery life and reliability, then the D4 is the way to go. Same for the D3s, D4s and D5. For more...general purpose all-round shooting, D750 is the way to go. Also has good video if you need it. Best part is the 2 SD slots, so you only need one card reader.
Personally, D4. Small file sizes, good performance in low light, battery lasts for a long time.

D4 was def a hot camera. Built well and it just works. I just shot a wedding 2 days ago with my 8 year old camera. lol
Thank you so much. The D4 is an amazing machine, still have mine and still use it.

I still use my D4s for professional shoots.....The colors are simply gorgeous on this camera.

Great video! My D4s is still a beast and still going strong with 675,000 shutter count!
The D4s is a champ, A real camera not to be messed with.
I’ve had my D4 since 2013, great camera runs flawlessly.

Inspired by you i just purchased one..8000 shutter count.. $1500 ... beautiful...thank you! your pictures are great!
Thank you ASIF. congrats on your new camera. WOW 8k shutter.. Time capsule if I say so myself. thats great.
Used a D4 for Years, a Tough great Camera, like you say why keep spending, it suits me !!!
The D4 still going strong. hehe, 500K clicks and still doing the job.

WOW!!!

Great video. Thank you. Your photos are incredible.

Karma.
Hey brother,
I see that your video was posted a year ago, so please pardon my late arrival to the party.
(I also have a Mamiya 645AFD medium-format with film and digis' backs, but I suppose that's a story another day)
I'd say I pretty much agree with all that you've started about the D4, and Nikon in general.

Thank you for this very helpful video and for the excellent photos in your sample sequence.
Hello Ken. You are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed the D4 review. More videos coming soon.
Thx David. Glad your enjoying my videos. Appreciate the comment. Yes the D4 and 70-200 beast combo. Perfect for portraits and sports
I would love one to go along side with my D3 one day soon
You will love the D4. Comes Highly recommended Jonny. Happy new year.

One of My favorite singers Sarit Hadad ..Great review also, i will go for d4s ,..
D4s for 1200 great price. Enjoy
just got mine 2 weeks ago awesome machine
Congrats Dan on the D4. Have fun with your amazing camera.

thank you, and great pictures !
Nice review. A reliable tools all those SLR-D Nikon. My D3 is so good that I never had the occasion to change for newer model.
I had 2 D3 cameras in thre past. great body
Awesome video, amazing camera 🤘😎
Thank you Ramon. Rock n Roll!!!!!
This is a great review, thank you!
Great video, I read that the D4 has 300,000 actuation expectancy and takes great pictures, strong body and good features for professional photographers. I like to know what each cameras do before I buy it and not get one with too much features and options that I will never going to use.
The D4 has been amazing to me. still a workhorse for my photography.
400,000..Actuation
Great images man! Question is the D4s as good as the d4 image quality wise and built? (Very good pianist!)
Which is strang as I have headed up a number R&D software company over time
Great review :) enjoyed watching!
Glad you enjoyed it. More to come. stay tuned :)
Nice work Vahagn! Good video!
thank you pourindiesel. More videos in the works hehe . your videos on monster trucks are awesome. lets do a photoshoot with one of those bad boys :)
D4 is still awesome even today
Yes it is Nicholas yes it is.
Awesome video! Thank you so much for making it.
Your very welcome Brian. More coming soon
Congrats on your Z6. take some killer shots. :) I still use my D4 even tough I have a Z6
I know a working pro still using a couple of Nikon d4’s and he has put over 800k shots on both with the original shutters
Yup and one of those guys is me. hehe. I still use my D3X. D4 D5
I have d3s and I am happy :)
Yes the D3s is amazing, Legend of a camera. take care of it and it will take care of you..
Good point and good for you. I try to hang on to my gear aswell. not worth selling it for pennies on the dollar.
You hardly shoot? wow. 1800 clicks. thats like nothing.
Best camera of its time and still its great. I use D3 that is great too
I agree with you there David. I use mine till this day. In fact just got done with a shoot with my D4 tonight. Still delivering results on point.
Missing mine everyday. Considering buying one again if I find one in good condition.
I know what you mean. D4 fits like an old shoe.
I can’t let go of my d4 and 450k clicks after 5yrs of use I don’t use it as much anymore but i won’t let it go. Currently using a pair of z6’s
Same here. Will never let it go. haha I also use a pair of Z6's. Good choice of cameras Clark!!
These photos took my breath away.
Thank you Gary. Much Appreciated . Rock ON!!!
Just got mine a week a ago but haven’t had time to go out and tested in wildlife. I’ve taken some shots of random stuff and it’s great, especially in low light. Got my camera used with only 10K shutter count for 1013 bucks.
I have been going through the features and there some pretty similar to my other camera, the D800 and my crop sensor D3300.
nice congrats Freddy. Thats a bargain price.
@@Vahagraphy i think the D5 and D6 use Sony sensors if In not mistaken. The D4 uses one designed by Nikon
@@TheForge10 Really. did not know that. The D4 is special.
@@Vahagraphy D3 and D3x used Sony. Nikon uses sony sensors a lot in its lower end cameras too frpm the D3xxx to D7xxx and D500 and D600 through to D750

Hey Vaha
thanks a lot for your videos man, they are amazing, thanks.
Quick question tho, how weather resistant is the D4?
THank you so much. Glad you are enjoying the videos. The D4 is very weather resistant. Amazing camera. Mine has been through it all.
@@Vahagraphy Hey Vaha
Thanks a lot for the quick response.
Sure, ok , I just recently bought this monster and man... I m in love :D honestly ... what a beast.
Quite frankly, I wanna do my best to take care of it, so wasn't sure if it's safe to take it out when it rains. But thanks a lot for your comment and videos
This maybe a 3 year old video, but I kept on watching it while waiting for my D4 to arrive. 1 quick question sir, what sony XQD series is compatible with the D4? Will the G series work? And whats the max XQD capacity the D4 can accept? 64gb
Hi, Congrats on this old beast. Yes they work and work well, not sure what the limit is but Ive had 64 and 128 on there and they work just fine.
@@Vahagraphy thats great to hear, thanks
@@Vahagraphy thank you . Your suggestions for lenses that matches D4 for eveyday photography like portraits , landscapes. I am not a professional just shooting as a hobby.
@@MAHINDA100 Your very welcome. Anything to help fellow photographers out. Always remember to have a good time taking pictures and never get frustrated. Its a learning process. Enjoy the process. That is whats its all about.
Thx for the video. I am getting a great deal on D4s. Around $1800. Is it worth buying considering it’s brand new
Wow Brand new D4S? Thats rare and yes, its a great deal. Put it this way, Id rather buy a D4s at $1800 than a D5 at $4000.
These D pro bodies are tanks. I have 425k images shot on my D5, and it’s still going strong.
Always wnted a D5. My D4 really did it for me. If I find a D6 in the future on the cheap, I will pick one up just to have the last of the beasts.
@@Vahagraphy That's where I am right now. I'm deciding on whether I should get a D6 or a Z9 as my next camera. I've been weighing everything I need in a camera, and it's a toss-up in my mind right now.
Hello.....what do you think of a used Nikon D4S...with 200,000 clicks and 3 batteries and a 64g card for US $ 1,100.00..???...should i buy it ?
humm, well, I like the camera and the price. its a bit high shutter , not to say its high for that camera shutter , no its just been used a bit , Id ask if he can lower 300 more.
For nature and wild life stuff. Would you choose the d4 over say an d850?
Just bought used D3s with ~35k shutter count. Absolute beast, still.
Congrats Joonas. Love that camera. Take awesome pictures my friend. If taken care of that camera will last for ever.
Just saw a d3 with 70k for 490 euros and a d4 with 76k for 1099 euros....wich one to go for....I use apsc for makro and wildlife but wanna try out one of these legendary beasts so bad....
@@michaelgerhold5659 I would go with the D4. Very, very solid camera.
@@michaelgerhold5659 i paid 550e for my D3s with ~35K sc.
I am not a professional and can’t afford this camera but damn I want one!
they sell for allot less now used. ive seen them go for as low as 600-1000 depending on miles
I have a D3s would you recommend an upgrade to D4s for my weddings? I have a d750 and D780 too
NIce, the D4s is a huge upgrade from the D3s. Better low light, more pixels. fast FPS. and now you can buy a D4s for cheap.
2.3 million? i think you hold the record hehe that rocks Brooks.
I found the D4 better than the D5. My D5 ruined. Ore photos than I ever got out of it. The D4 was perfect for sunset wedding photos!
The D4 is a legend.
