I think these comparisons (DSLR vs Mirrorless) are good. But like everyone I have seen, and I have seen a ton of them. The newer camera always wins the reviewer over. I get it, the new camera has better options, or it fixes something that the DSLR could not fix.
A couple of years back there was a well-known photographer in my area, that has done all types of photography for well over 40 years. Has an amazing studio and tends to be the first pick for photos in this area. I saw him at a shoot and noticed his main camera was a Canon EOS 1D Mark II, that's right an 8.2 Megapixel DSLR. I could not help myself, so I asked, why are you shooting with a 15-year-old DSLR. He kindly said, "I have no need to upgrade". Blew my mind, that someone that makes a living off his camera choose to stick with a trusty body like the 1D Mark II. But I would assume he mastered that camera and does not see a reason to move up in camera.
Given he doesn't work for a magazine or newspaper. But his work gets printed a ton more than other photographers. That is when it downed on me that the newest, latest, greatest camera's we see on these review video's get overhyped a lot of the times. So I slowed down and started looking at older DSLR's that would have some of the options the new ones have that I would "Need" vs wanted. And well the D4 is where I get most of those needs from. So I waited and found a really good deal on a used Nikon D4.
Thank you for doing these video's it helps others like myself see that the difference between a 10-year-old DSLR and a new Mirrorless is not nearly as far apart as it may seem.

Yeah the D4 is still a beast!! I've moved to mirrorless, but I also don't think everyone needs to. It comes down to personal needs and priorities in terms of how you wanna use the camera. :)

If you turn on flicker reduction on the z6ii, it should solve the issue with fluorescent lights without requiring you to reduce shutter speed: another nice feature added to recent Nikon cameras.

Regarding the split-prism etc. style of focusing (when you mentioned Leica and other MF centric camera's ) - you CAN get that on your dSLR as well. You have to buy a different focusing screens of your desired choice (i.e split-prism) which is user replacable, and very easy to do. Katzeye used to be an amazing brand for it, and that's where i got mine cause i use a 50/1.2 AIS 70% of the time. But they recently went out of business. But sure you can find plenty of other brands/options. Give it a try if you want.

Another interesting and varied video, as was part one. One question i have is, at what time of night were these photos and video done? It's interesting how the neon light pops given different shadows and sky colour. Add to that, the amount of people around that make street scenes interesting.

Interesting video but I’m really struggling to understand how the latest cameras are beneficial to shooting on the street. I still work with D3’s and a D4S but find them too good for street photography. What I mean by this is that the images are sterile and too clinical and lack any sort of atmosphere or emotion. I find exactly the same thing with my Fuji X100s mirrorless and other modern cameras I have tried. I still much prefer shooting film in a manual camera, Range or SLR as it makes you work harder and gives an image that you actually want to look at. It’s very hard now to distinguish between an image from a Z6 and a good mobile phone, all images are ubiquitous. All the great street work was shot on film and even the best work today is still taken on film. The camera companies want to make money so are telling us we can’t work unless we’ve got the latest technology and are pushing hard to sell them. The camera is only a tool and a good photographer can get a great image on whatever they are given.

After owning and trying a couple of lens amd bodies. I start to realise having good lens and a variety of them is more beneficial than different bodies. Just buying the best body (doesn't have to be brand new) and equip with couple of different types of lens is enough for a not professional photographer

Unfortunately, I never used the Nikon 35mm f/2D. Actually, 10 years ago I really wanted to buy this lens, but when I got the Voigtlander it didn't make sense, so I never got the 35mm. The key difference is AF vs. MF. If you want to get into manual focus and zone focusing then I think the Voigtlander will be better. The Nikon 35mm is best use as an AF lens. :)

@@marka.200 Glad to hear it! I see what you mean. I personally like to do things in post if possible. So, things like white balance, picture control, etc. I don't really worry about in camera too much. I did mentioned that I use Neutral and that's just to get a better idea of the image when reviewing them on camera. I also keep the NR off, the vignette control off, Nikon's D-Lighting off.
I do use Long exposure NR on the D4. It makes a difference (though it doubles the time it takes to shoot a long exposure). On my D3 and now Z6II I feel long exposure NR makes no difference, but on the D4 is does!
Other than that, I already explained the ISO settings in that other video... what else... I set it to sRGB in the camera, though I edit in Adobe RGB, again it doesn't matter since it's raw and can be changed later. Also, I use the 14-bit raw option and use lossless compression.
