    Hi Daniel, and thank you for your very informative and honest video. A tiny suggestion, I just shipped the first batch of coins in nearly 20 years to PCGS and do not know how to ship Registered Mail. So many rules, regulations, correct tape, etc. It took two trips and two scoldings by the nice Post Office Lady, but I finally got them shipped. An updated or new video showing how to pack, wrap and ship coins in detail would be much appreciated. Al

I'm planning on seeking the help of the Coinhelpu Facebook family as far as grading options, etc. I can't wait, I'm scared, anxious, and excited all at the same time. Excellant video to help understand the submission process, as well as show the expense that go into these that a lot don't realize. When I submit, I always write my guess on the grade on paper before sending off, then I am just as anxious to compare what my guess was to the actual graded coin when it returns... I am close on most, but rarely correct on majority... much

    My first submission to PCGS (or any TPG) was the 2021 Morgan Dollars (3 full sets) and the shipping was the hardest part because I didn’t have the stuff they required just lying around and I had to go buy it.
    Like the bubble wrap and coin flips. I asked them if I could just send the capsules and they said no but I could put the capsule in a flip if I wanted to so I had to go buy flips and bubble wrap.
    Then I had to go buy labels because they wanted me to label the flip of each coin.
    It was kind of a pain in the butt however the results I got made it worth it.
    18 coins submitted.
    14 MS70
    4 MS69
    Not bad considering I just sent everything and didn’t cherrypick or hold anything back.

    I've had a beautiful 1880 shilling for close to 20 years now, and have always wanted to submit it, but have been afraid to because I didn't know about what leaving a coin in a flip can do and for a number of years I left it in the flip the dealer sold it to me in. It's still a gorgeous coin, but I feel like it might get some sort of weird grade because at certain angles, it has just the barest hint of a greenish tinge near the edge and it sounds like what people claim is considered environmental damage from the time it was in the flip. I've had people tell me to not bother sending it in because it's a foreign coin, or because if I never plan on selling it (and I don't) there really isn't any reason to do it. I personally would just love to see it grade out as MS as I've always felt it is, but never really been sure if I want it bad enough to pay the fees involved :D

    Question - I do a lot of junk silver and occasionally stumble across something interesting. For example - I got a slew of 1936d Washington quarters in a roll recently. Like 8 of them. Red book had them at like $55 in xf 40. I think they are close to xf for most of them.
    The question is this. Maybe they come back 30 or 25. Not worth $50+ each. If you hold on to something like that for 25 years and have it slabbed - could there be value in doing this with coins? I’m mostly on the silver side of this and not so much the numismatic. However, it’s been nice getting some of these, some walkers, and some mercs along the way which might fetch some value 20-30 years down the road based on mintage and/or condition.
    What’s your thoughts with some of the ‘junk’ silver which is way better than good or very good and may be key dates - but don’t rise to those $100 values, yet.
    Part of me feels that with inflation, maybe it’s a $25 coin I got for junk value at $3. I slab it and break even or even lose $10. In 25 years, with inflation, maybe that $25 coin is now a $100 coin - and something with low mintage that is now 100+ years old might be more scarce.
    Everything I see points to people getting AU or above slabbed. Is there a value in getting some of the better ‘junk’ slabbed if we plan on holding on to it for 20-30 years to build out a collection?

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No one can really answer your question like that, demand and popularity is more of the value than inflation. You will have to go back in time to see what common graded coins where worth 20-30 years ago and compare to now.

    Hi Daniel, I really like channel. I have a few questions for you. I was able to get one of the 2019 S enhanced reverse proof silver eagles last week.
    I am currently learning the coin submission process. I have never had a coin graded before. But I see there relevance so I will be getting some of my coins graded. And I have choose pcgs to submit my coins too. I like the coins better in there holders.
    My question to you is if you were submitting this silver eagle would you send in an unopened box for grading? At first I wasn't thinking about grading the COA. But after looking at the process a little closer. I have decided to encapsulate the COA as well. Also if you was sending this coin in would you get the COA graded? And if so or not, would you have any other grading features added for grading?

    all my coins like my Jefferson coins were collected when i was 12 years old and I learned how to grade coins now, i am 68 now and have not touched those coins in all those years. If wait to send to PCGS to get my collections in order before i die and my learning grading was a learn process and if my grade were so far off should I use the grades I choose for each coin or should I try to regrade the coins now. Also, the pricing was that per coin submitted or based on a complete shipment of coins. I sent my Baseball cards in its cost me 11.00 per card similar, right?

    What would be the optimal number of coins to keep cost at minimum per coin?

    I apologize if these are dumb questions but: 1) won't those hard plastic slip potentially scratch the surface of perfect proof coins?
    2) Can you submit them in custom capsules? 3) Will they not accept coins in their original custom presentation boxes & capsules?

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, these flips don't scratch any coin. I have submitted hundreds, even proofs. PCGS will accept them in original package but charge you to remove them.

    Why is it so complicated to submit for grading

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think it is myself. It's like anything once you do it a once or twice it's easy.

      @@CoinHELPu well, If you are a coin dealer It is easy , but first time submitters its kind of complicated . These grading companies can simply have forms for new , old coins which includes errors , and all related to these specific coins for a set fee , so a newbie can't be guessing, if the form was filled out properly for a proper grading . let me give you an example , if you never use a welder , and you want to weld thin sheet metal , I can't tell you is very simple , but I can show you which welder works better , at a certain setting for voltage , to achieve a good weld without blowing holes.

      PCGS by a small margin
