a little bit off topic - should Stipe Miocic still be in the top 5 as a ranked heavyweight? His last fight was 2021, 1 flight 2020, 1 fight 2019... Isn't he retired? Pretty sure Jones - Miocic is not going to happen. Heavyweight division with the whole Dana being in love with Jones is kinda strange.
In the future, Aspinall will run out of opponents- he'll have to fight lions and crocodiles to have a challenge.

If Tom has to fight to defend the interim it should mean Jones is stripped and its for the undisputed title. Jiri and Jamal have set the standard how it shouls be. No holding up a division for over a year.
There is no precedent for that. Renan Barao defended his interim belt while Cruz remained champion.

We shouldn't allow people to hold up divisions forever. 12 months should be an automatic strip. Regardless of who the champ is. If you can't fight for a year you're not an active fighter.

Ian Gary just used this same logic to refuse to fight MVP. It takes a serious level of self-centered thinking to claim you'll only fight people who are ranked above you. If that were the case, then no ranked fighters could ever compete.

Blaydes is unbeaten against anyone that wasn't a scary puncher. Loses to (Ngannou Lewis Pavlovich and shat himself against Rozenstruik and Hunt). That's why Blaydes is a good test for Aspinall before Jon Jones. And neither Blaydes or Jones has lost to a scary puncher so them fighting each other would also be interesting to me.
